The sensitive use doesn't explain why I sold a picture of an office desk for $97.33  ;)

Mine 7 day rank is 124 at the moment. A bit worried that being so close to the top100 gets you so little money ;)

I am very impressed by one big site and have gone exclusive. Has any one else a comment?

even the ones with tens of thousands images are reporting no sales since friday !
A weekend without sales. That sounds scary.  ::)

If you don't spend any money on marketing where do clients come from ? Is it mainly Google/Bing ? I'm sure with the publicity you were getting for years your name and "stock photo people" are probably high in search.

Just don't spend it all in one place.

I'm one of those dummies who now has everything on micro AND on Alamy.   At first I never believed I'd sell anything at Alamy, but actually I've sold enough that I'm fairly encouraged and thinking seriously about taking everything off of the micros and just doing Alamy.

We have no way of knowing how many Alamy buyers might also search the micros to see if they can get the same image for $1.   But it has to be happening.
Unless you have something very unique I don't think it will be a good idea. I personally think that submitting images to every single CrapStock is a bad idea, but pulling out of the Big 4 might just mean that someone else will get the sales.

Thanks.
The Russian version has the 'filter by content' drop down menu, which lets you show only people with photos or illustrations. Very useful in my opinion.

I think this russian site gets all the data from Shutterstock pretty accurately and they also have a graph showing more or less what you're asking here.

Thanks, but I didn't meant it as a public "post your earnings" thread. I was hoping we might get this automated and most importantly anonymous. I don't think many people, including me, are willing to post their numbers in a public forum.

Interesting. I even registered on Zazzle a long time ago, but somehow it didn't seam like a place one would be making any serious money.

Adobe Stock / FT rank ... again
« on: October 06, 2012, 04:39 »
Since the original thread about FT rank turned into a general discussion about Fotolia I was wondering if it would be possible to create some kind of weekly anonymous poll for FT rank, to get some kind of a graph/trend line to see how individual  earnings correspond to the 7 day rank.
My guess is that the graph will look something like that :

With a bit more variation in the top contributors of course, since we're dealing with the real world here, not a mathematical model.

Would that be technically difficult to do? Users would just post two numbers - 7 day rank and the amount earned in the last week. The graph would be calculated based on the data points.

Logitech's gaming devices are really great. Very tough and precise. The one I'm using came with a bunch of weights to customize the whole 'feel' and balance of the device. Couple of customizable buttons, two extra buttons for a quick change of the device's precision. I'm really satisfied with it.

I also have a Wacom tablet which came with a mouse, but I rarely use it. The only good thing is that it's battery-less and cord-less at the same time.

I hope this works only for people with a buyers account.

Down 10% to last month, and up 18 to September 2011. Best four: Shutterstock, DepositPhotos,  Zazzle, Photospin
Seriously ... Zazzle, Photospin ? Were those like a single $1000 sale that just skewed the results or are you seriously getting regular sales?

you went from $600-700 to ZERO ? Or is that just the new 'quarter' that just started.

I have two accounts @Fotolia, one where I stopped uploading about two years ago. My graph looks very similar to the one you posted. 80% drop in less than 2 years. But the other account where I keep on uploading new stuff is doing pretty well actually.

Looking at the 'Balance of account' page I noticed that in the "Paid" column along side the dates (for the 'cleared' sales) there are also 'x' and 'o' signs. Does anyone know what's the difference ?
My last cleared sale is from 17 July.

All the answers are on Alamy. Exactly on the same page right above the word paid.

Paid Key - X = Uncleared, O = Cleared, MM/YYYY = Date paid

Try this, it's the ultimate solution to the X's and O's on Alamy:

When you get three X's in a row, they pay you.  ;)

Now that makes more sense actually ;)

@Poncke Thanks. I feel like a total idiot for not seeing this. What's the english phrase? The darkest place is under the candlestick

As for sales ... last 3 months were pretty good. Hope this will continue.

General Macrostock / Re: submitting to Getty

Try SPL (Science Photo Library), it's a Getty partner, RF and RM, mostly illustrations, 3D, CGI, photoshopping.

http://www.sciencephoto.com/

I see their images used every day on BBC for instance.
No idea if you can get rich with SPL but it's probably the only agency doing sales in that field.

They got back pretty quickly and seam very nice, but the deal is to get into a 5 years long exclusive agreement with them. Deal breaker for me I'm afraid.

The economy is not in a bad state. Take a look at the stock indexes.
That's just printed money. Easy come, easy go. I'd rather look at the unemployment rates all over the world going up, debt both private and public sky rocketing ...

Well, for years the common knowledge was that in time of recession the advertising industry was the "canary in a coal mine". When things were starting to go downhill most companies used to cut marketing spending. So something change here. Either companies figured out that it's the time to increase marketing (there is some logic to it), or they moved from more costly marketing strategies and that's why microstock is doing good.
Or ... the whole structure of the economy shifted to more services, more internet based businesses and this whole shift just happen to occur during the current crisis.
