Getty has been into news since forever. It might be million+ : P

I personally don't find finding mine in thumb size on thrown together crappy loking sites too flattering, I'd rather not even bookmarks those, tho I don't find that much uses being semi-new to this. I also wouldn't want to show my models how their faces are being used on some poor looking thing.

I remember Yuri saying in a recent interview that other agencies have been check-mated by istock years ago, that IS just does everything better, they are way ahead, and ceos' of other agencies are just amateur photogs... quite outspoken which is much appriciated imho. How does all that look now?

I personally don't think it's the economic situation yet. (it will be) Altho it's heading for a collapse, it works in weird way (thats one of the reasons it's likely to be a total collapse): despite being buried in debt, the western, developed world still has money to burn, loans on top of loans, untill everything implodes. The empty space from entities that have gone bankrupt and stopped buying, is likely getting filled up by the ones who are only on their way to becoming bankrupt and seek cheaper alternatives... so imho it's oversupply, maybe for different reasons. Oversupply on IS because they lost customers. Oversupply un SS simply because they have so much stuff, and they have a lot more high volume, high rate contributors. Almost 17 million shots as I remeber? vs. IS with about 10 mill.

Interesting how dropping sales means new markets opening up to some : )  I get suprisingly big batches of downloads from india if the SS map is trustworthy, their ratio is increasing a lot.

"Nobody does?. WOW, thats naive, Poor Photographers, How did they survive for 125 years before Digital and Photoshop?"

Do you even know where the the dodge and burn tool in photoshop come from, Mr. old-time pro photographer? : ))

...and many of the other similar tools and blending methods for that matter....

Istock is losing customers, and the problem with SS is that since there is no upload limit you gonna find a lot more ppl with similarly large collections, and pretty good quality too. It's simply oversupply

I don't really understand whats the big deal with depositphotos. If you are heavily involved in microstock you have already been giving your pictures to crooks anyway. FT, IS, f.e. their directors and many of their employees would be fleeing criminal charges in a properly regulated world, so whats the difference?

??? I think I smell a weird kind of smoke....... Maybe I should get some as well, then I might be able to decipher this ....statement?

or maybe you'r a bit simple.

The Canon RAW converter has a built in option for correcting chromatic aberration on Canon lenses. I suspect it has a separate algorithm for each lens so that it knows what colour aberrations there will be at any given focal length and just shifts the pixels in each channel to cancel that.

However it does it, it works brilliantly and eliminates forever those irritating "colour fringing" rejections. That, alone, is good enough reason for me to stick to shooting RAW+jpg, since no photographer - however good - can "nail" CA in the camera.

CA correction is not an option for jpgs in Canon's software (at least, not in the converter supplied with my camera).

Is there a CA eliminating program for jpgs? I haven't come across one (but I would like to know if there is), but even if it exists it can't be easier or more accurate than Canon's own.

It seems silly to me to say that you shoot RAW for clients but not for 38c microstock. My best-selling stock files have earned me more than my day-rate. For that reason I will put the same amount of effort into any file that is being sold. A rejection for a blown highlight that could have been recovered in RAW or for fringing  could cost me more than $1,000 in lost sales .... OK, it probably won't because not many of my files make that, but isn't that what we are hoping for from every upload?

That's my take on it.

You can open jgps in adobe camera raw and that has CA controll

ohh jesus... just set what looks good. done.

agreed with SNP here, most ppl who stick to these 'scientific' ways of setting wb often produce the worst looking stuff, it doesnt work. they don'l realize that for example if you have a face on a vibrant background -especially if its a single color- the face need a lots more warmth and saturation to to look ok. they just stick to their gray cards, and the person will look like a dead body from the morgue freezer, as you see in so many ports on SS f.e.

shooting into jpgs nowadays is nonsense. they don't even load faster than raws, and the storage space difference isn't really an issue in 2011 anymore.

I don't think sales are popping up realtime at all, in fact many sales happening one day are accounted for the next... etc.

Why do you need to apply for a mastercard now?

Because the old one has been breached. Or do you mean why do I need it and not transfer the money to my bank acc?

Yep... you have no card for a regular bank account??

Well I'm not going to explain the reasoning behind it, but surely you'll get it if you give it some thought ;)

Well they just stole your money because there was a card for it, give that some thought. I don't think state's revenue agencies will go around diggin up your accounts any soon, they have bigger fish to fry.

Is this a prank? Maybe you should donwload some of jaffbanke's ir rinder's ebooks... I heard they are fabulous : D

The Joker - and I thought my jokes were bad

Don't need to be mean, man! If anyone are not willing to share some thoughts, simply don't do it.

Okay, sry, but here's may take on this: you just have to go on any site that can list pictures ordered by popularity, downloads, etc... Search for keywords of things that are available for you to shoot ('dog woman house' in this case f.e.), check out the best sellers, thats what you need to emulate. Asking around in forums is pretty much useless compared to that for several reasons, and a picture is worth a thousand words anyway...

lets make it serious ok? if you are going to search every single picture you plan to do, you better get another job, there isnt a picture that the market actually needs it, there are more than enough and done in perfection! so you better not shoot or just shoot family stuff!

BUT as you know and you havent said here is that stock agencies still approve apples, fishes, architecture, people and all other stuff even flowers! (I love the way everybody keep on saying that stock is this and that and they know thats not right! but yeh everybody have a strategy)

p.s: I am not saying you will get rich doing stock, most certainly you wont

You don't need to search everything unless you are naive. You look around and 'get the picture' of what is necessary in terms lighting, composition etc. It's not rocket science, is it? I also don't understand why should anyone diss doing some visual research on a subject matter, it's lot more helpful than listening to everybody's philosophy about it, that just gets most ppl confused imho. It's useless.

Trolling should not be a crime in this chap's case, as he appears to look like a troll.

He's more like a gnome. : ) Do I get jailed now? Dumbdo titles btw, almost makes it sound like a free-speech issue... how about slander, defamation?

Maybe it's the new iteration of sunnymars, disguising herself as "Peggy".
;D
I raise my hand, I don't have any avis (whatever they are) mpegs or mp3s on my drives, in fact, I don't have any illegal software whatsoever.

Just because some people's morals are below average, doesn't mean the whole world's are.

that's nice, because I didn't mention anything about software : )

had several batches sitting over the weekend - about 150 images. then suddenly 100% reject - they must be clearing their backlog!

I'd really curious what are they like, after 150 all getting rejected...

123
She has a point, by not giving the sites any extra back links. It takes less than 10 seconds, to sort the urls out for anyone who really wants to know if their images are there or not. Or u could just spend the 10 seconds saying oh come just give us the links etc.

Ohh jesus, that single link wouldn't do f*** f*** so how about sparing both of those 10 secs? : ) The real annoyance is of course not the 20 secs, just how dumb this is, truly sorry for being rude but I just can't stand subject illtirate ppl wasting other's energy because they have an urge to play smartasses. This is the big problem with most you ppl, this nonsense attitude... picture this: you let your shot get downloaded a zillion times with hardly any controll, you intend to leave it like that for the next 1000 years, then you want to lessen all the sleuth surrounding it by putting  spaces in the f-reaking url. This is just stooopid, sorry.

...and if you still can't get this out your head, just ask the admin to make links in comments nofollow. It's pretty much standard on most sites.

Illiteracy is a problem I agree.

I'm still stuck on "f*** f***" "'ppl" "smartasses" "f-reaking" "stooopid" "controll" "plz" and probably some more.  ::) I kow English and I don't know text talk or whatever that short code is called now. Part of being old is still using full real words most of the time.

However I do understand NoFollow and maybe we should ask if Leaf has it in the BB code here, in which case lthn makes an excellent point. All the spam posts and links to whatever or us posting a link to an image thief, have NO EFFECT on internet ranks, and doesn't help them. In which case we can post full links without worrying about giving them any benefits with trick dots or spaces. Plus one (.) and it's covered, we don't have to go to extremes to make it useless for the creeps and cretins of the world.

So Leaf? are these forums NoFollow?

For anyone interested... http://www.inverudio.com/NoFollow.php

Ok, so now we know that you are old. The links are not nofollow afaics (as far as I can see), that wasn't my point, it was making that an option. imho, thx, XoXo, cu laterz 8 )

Best option (I think) - Hold fire on your images till this flattening hurricane called "Rejecta" blows over.
Only thing is - it could take time!

Good idea! I'll keep uploading tho : P
