As long as the copyright holder (photographer) himself does not tell us the pic was misused without buying a license I assume the license was paid for and there is no misuse.

As we all (hopefully) understood this is NOT an iStock image but a plain picture (hopefully bought) which later on was altered with a watermark assuming it was an iStock picture.
And buyers have the right to alter pictures as we all know....

I didnt laugh either, I thought it was stupid. Wonder if the copyright holder thought it was funny.

So whtats the problem when you sell your picture to a humorous page and they make a funny joke of it?
As a stock photographer you never know what will happen with your sold pics and in what context they will be used.

Although this isnt april 1st I find that article quite funny.
It reminds me of all the obejects I am (as a photographer) are not allowed to phtograph because some brand or architect or whatsoever holds the rights on that object (like Eiffeltower at night, Sydney opera house, german ICE trains, etc etc).

So the point is somebody (iStock) now holds the rights on Mt. Rusmore. Good point.

I had files on the Deposit uploading account (which I uploaded via picworkflow) queueing for ages and not beeing moved further to the inbox.
I then started uploading to Deposit with an FTP uploader (File Zilla) and that works perfect. Files go smoothly to the uploaded box nearly the same minute I upload them.

Alamy.com / Re: 10 years in alamy, should I give up?

I have a strange decline in views since beginning of december.......
I usually had about 800 views per month and it suddenly dropped to something like 300...
Over the last 4 days there were only 15 views of my pictures.....

Has anybody else noticed something like that as well?

I mean I dont really sell much stuff on Alamy anyway but if nobody even views my pics I might opt out as well......

-They have some serious issue with the "non licensable content":

Had a complete series of graveyard pics rejected as "non licensable" last weekend.

I submitted more of that series nearly a year ago, and it was no problem, and they do sell quite good.

Now I wanted to add more of them and the were rejected as "non licensable" :(

I earned the unbelieveable amount of 59 Dollars for one picture in december on Deposit!!! (so the buyer must have paid around 166 Dollars for my picture).

I had only a very few sales with less than 3 $ altogether on Deposit before and couldnt believe my eyes when the mail came in telling me I earned 59 Dollars

Made the payout right away and got the money just before christmas  ;D

Ive been submitting pics directly to microstock agencies like SS, Adobe and Alamy for a year now.

I recently signed a contract with easyfotostock (part of agefotostock) in Spain and now discovered they sell my pictures on Alamy using their own pseudonym as photographer to be credited. Meaning my name will not be credited on those sales, although I have the copyright.

I didnt know they use affiliate programmes and I couldnt choose any of the affiliates as well. I also cant delete my pictures on their site.

I want to sell my pics directly not through that agency and I will terminate my contract now.

Is this common? Do agencies sell pictures they dont have the copyright on under their own name with no credits or mentioning the copyright holder?

I always thought I own my copyright and have to be mentioned when selling through stock angencies.... Am I wrong?

I wrote to Alamy about that subject but they responded I have to talk about that with agefotostock, they use the pseudonym given with the photo.

And this is how they sell it

Newbie Discussion / Re: What is your fastest reviewing site?
« on: January 06, 2020, 05:30 »
That differs- sometimes agencies are very slow and it takes up to a month for review, sometimes they accept pictures while Im still uploading the batch....
Dreamstime and Bigstock are usually very quick. And at the moment Shutterstock is very quick as well- I cant upload as fast as they review....
The worst I contribute to is several agencies (like Pixta) I contribute to via Zoonar. They havent reviewed pictures for more than six months....

Newbie Discussion / Re: Possibility to pirate images on EyeEm
« on: January 06, 2020, 05:25 »
I started submitting to EyEm and discovered that problem after two days as well. I was able to upload all kinds of pics of other useres making a screen shot.
I then decided I do not want this for my pictures- deleted all my pictures and left EyEm for good.

The rejections on shutterstock are ridicolous sometimes, but you will have to live with the decision without getting too angry...
I even tried to discuss decisions twice but it did not help at all.
With shutterstock I have the feeling they often (not always) only accept pics with the focus in the middle of the photo. So when I take a pic of a subject which fills the whole space and the main focus (like a head) is in the upper third of that pic it gets rejected as "the main subject is not in Focus".
Have to live with that.....
