Adobe Stock / Re: Adobe Stock 101 Webinar on Tuesday Feb 9
« on: February 08, 2021, 18:39 »
Hi Everyone,

I'm kicking off a monthly Adobe Stock 101 session followed by an extensive live Q&A on Tuesday, February 9 at 9am. The presentation is geared towards new contributors primarily but there may be some useful information as a refresher for you veteran stock contributors. After I run through the presentation, I'll stick around to answer as many questions as I can. I hope to see some of you there!

This is truly awesome news.
Tomorrow I fly from NC to Minneapolis, then onward to WI for the Ellsworth Cheese Curd festival where there will be 20+ cheese curd dishes.
For me fried curds are the way to go.  ;D

« on: May 07, 2019, 08:12 »
Used to be about 2-3 every week now its about 2 a month. I think there are still plenty of EL sales across the site, but its simply down to quality content growth exceeding EL demand. There is an ever increasing number great photographers submitting quality content than there used to be.

Same here, nothing on Shutterstock or Adobe, very weird, usually 20+ sales by this time of the morning.

Ok so my $396 sale was an error, but they need to either correct this line in my reported stats or show a negative credit on my account for this month so I know the exact amount that was taken back. This is so F'd up.

Adobe Stock / Re: Adobe/Fotolia earnings falling since end january
« on: February 14, 2019, 07:41 »
Been with Fotolia/Adobe since 2006, this month is already a BME thanks to a very large single sale, but on average they have been holding steady whilst other sites are trending a slow decline. For me the litmus test is how new submissions perform and with Adobe I've seen sales on new images that compare to Shutterstock ie a few float to the top and gain some momentum selling well whilst many new submissions just sink. The few 'successful images' make it worthwhile to keep uploading.

Not worth the effort

I sensed the writing was on the wall about a year ago, there just seemed to be less attention and communications whereas as previously there was more of a marketing effort and buzz across social media and briefs were closed fairly soon after they expired. I made $2700 with them in my first year 2015/16. Also some briefs that I shot specific images for and weren't chosen were removed from the site and submitted to Shutterstock, one image has gone on to make about $750 as RF. So wasn't a complete waste of time for me, now I have over 800 exclusive images that were on ImageBrief to upload somewhere..... ::)

Wow, I've gone from level 4 to level 1, from 0.324 to 0.216 per sub DL.
Inability to sell = slash the commission rate based on your 12 month points total. Time to pull the plug on this site.

Nice going 123rf

General Stock Discussion / Re: AUGUST SALES
« on: August 02, 2017, 08:47 »
Thanks to a few big sales August is already totaling a third of July's sales after 2 days :o. Feeling optimistic for the month but still a long way off the totals from a few years ago.

General Stock Discussion / Re: ImageBrief and Exclusivity
« on: July 26, 2016, 12:24 »
I sold one today through their non brief Marketplace search and received $500 as I get 100% commission because I signed up and paid for premium. Sales has been enough over the last year to make the $500pa premium cost worthwhile. Of course everyone's experience will be different but I'm alright with them. Nice responsive people to work with and I do believe they are sincere in what they are trying to achieve.

I just got my first EL under the new structure, I got $30.

Did you get $29.85 or $30? I ask because 30% of 99.50 ( the current price of the 2-pack in the US) is $29.85. Possibly if the purchase were made in another country, the price amounted to $100 when converted into USD, but nice round numbers on currency conversions suggest shenanigans with the exchange rate

It was a $30.00 EL

Did it show under SOD? I got a 30 dollar SOD (as well as some really good ones) today too.

It showed up under EL, not SOD.

As far as I can see, "Marketplace" is just another stock library.  I paid to be in Shutterpoint 11 years ago.  Wasn't worth what I paid.

Sorry to hear that. I will see where this goes with 'Marketplace' as its an added 'paid for perk' to premium membership, I'll add a few hundred originals to their library, see what that generates and make a decision whether I renew the premium membership based on the return from 100% commissions next April when renewal fee is due.

24
I decided to test the waters with Image Brief in April, I have submitted to quite a few briefs, mostly archive stuff from old shoots and unused images. Whilst I am disappointed at the low number of briefs that are awarded and converted into sales I remain interested as I have actually had some good sales there. I signed up as a premium member and paid the annual fee of $499. So far I have had 3 sales since April ($1250, 100% commission as a premium member) and still have a number of images that are shortlisted.

This week they launched the beginning of a new way to get your images in front of buyers through their 'Personal Marketplace', thus allowing me to create a database of searchable images as well as the usual method of exposure by submitting to briefs, I can select images to be sold as RF or RM, minimum selling price remains at $250.

My advice is not to write them off, keep an eye on the briefs especially the specific ones where you might have something sitting on your hard drive that fits the brief criteria. This may not be a good fit for all photogs but look at the briefs and see if your work suits some of the styles the represented agencies are looking for. I am enjoying being with them right now, their communications have been excellent every time I posed a question and I am am making sales. New developments like the 'Marketplace' shows to me that they are expanding their operation, hopefully this will in time bring more sales. I hope sharing my experience helps and wish everyone good luck in making some sales in this super-competitive field.
