But as a photographer, I may also decide in this case to upload only the lowest acceptable resolution as StockXpert and SS while keeping the highest resolution for IS?
I've seen at least a couple of people here mention that they only upload 2MP images to SS. But you can opt out at StockXpert. Wonder how much this will affect sales of those who do opt out?

If this trend continues, it may become a very good reason to go exclusive with IS.
With all of the goofy stuff and changes going on elsewhere this is looking more attractive. But what are chances of IS adding subscriptions at some point? They have the volume.

Uhhh, okay, since it looks like Madelaide skipped mine let's try this again. If you feel this image sucks please pick something else that doesn't suck or at least act like you like it. And Madelaide, is the "gross comment" referring to the comment I left you on the previous image? http://www.stockxpert.com/browse.phtml?f=view&id=5623421

I corrected it, thanks.

This is really funny. I just had an image rejected for keyword spamming. All I could figure out is that it was rejected for having "in, and, or" as keywords. Dummy me... little did I know you could add everything else besides in/and/or and get approved.

I just started with Fotolia a couple of months ago and unless something changed, they don't have any audition qualification process. Just upload what you have.
Although they've had some problems, FT is starting to really pick up momentum for me and is my second highest earner behind IS. I would guess your models should do pretty well there.
Also, their approval times have been very fast. In some cases within 24 hours.

Seems like MySQL hasn't been a real good platform for micro agencies lately.

Good question. I was just thinking about this same thing. I would think that existing customers would buy less due to their customers shelving marketing projects to conserve money. But like you said, some customers from macros may move to micro. Not sure if anyone really knows how this shift would increase/decrease micro sales. Seems a recession would definitely tank macro sales.

Thanks for the comments. Maybe I need to tighten keywording up a bit for StockXpert. I started adding stuff like "a, at, on" because of Fotolia. With them, if someone searched for "apples in baskets" and "in" wasn't one of your keywords, you wouldn't show up. It's not like I have "hot girls" and "customer service agent" as keywords.
What bugs me is inconsistency. To me, IS is rock solid with rejection/approval consistency. If they reject it, I normally will agree with the reason. It starts to become a major waste of time when there is no pattern to rejections. Especially when they do stuff like rejecting an image they had already approved a few days ago.
I'll give it another try. If nothing improves maybe I'll give StockXpert a rest for a while until I see some signs of this stuff blowing over.

Here's some StockXpert fun for your enjoyment.
1. I submit a picture of a car. They reject it and say "please remove brands from metadata". Okay, I had Porsche in the keywords. So remove the word Porsche, resubmit, and it gets rejected for "Keyword spamming".
2. I love this one. I had a photo that was already approved. I used the Replace File function to upload a better larger MP file, didn't touch the keywords, and it gets rejected for keyword spamming.
I don't think my keywords are even close to spamming and I've never had this problem before. Seems I'm now officially a victim of the mass rejection issue. Good times...

I just started with StockXpert and have about a 60% approval rating. Odd though that they seem to be skipping around by paritally reviewing batches and then coming back later to review the rest. Haven't run into the mass rejection issue but I'm only uploading batches of 20-25.

The rest of the sentance is missing. It should say "The server is down for maintance... because it just crashed hard and we're going crazy trying to get it working".
Hope they get it straightened out. Fotolia has been picking up momentum nicely for me.

I don't think there is much QC. Right on their FAQ it says:
Is there an image review process? Yes. We arent picky, but we do review all submitted images to make sure they meet our basic legal and technical requirements.

You can still do a screenshot which takes all of five seconds. It needs a watermark.

I can verify the keyword reorder works. I reordered some of my keywords and downaloads literally came to a dead stop. After a couple of weeks I'm now starting to get downloads again. Seems like it takes a while for their search engine to reindex any changes.
Also seems that it doesn't search keywords that are entered as phrases ("hands typing" as opposed to "hands, typing"). And even if you have individial keywords but are missing one word in a search phrase such as "on" (hands typing on laptop), it doesn't work.

I just had my first download there today after uploading about 50 images last week. Hope this is a sign things are picking up there.
