Epixx, you just discribed how macrostockers feel / felt about microstock.  Yet you're in for microstock !!  But now that they could be cutting into YOUR profit (and not that of the macrostockers) it's suddenly all hell and doom.  Why don't you tell people to quit microstock, than we all can ask $50 an image.

As I see it, it's just 'go-with-the-flow'  and when it's not profitable enough (and that day will come) I'll just quit, no problem.

The microstock model is doomed to give low profit at some time.  So just grab what you can as long as it lasts.

how did you override it?  I have had to delete the double words making incomplete sentences or leaving out part of the description.

a week ago you had to delete the words.  but yesterday I noticed you could override the warning.  Not sure how it will affect search ranking.  But because BigStock is that small for me, I don't bother.

dreamstime for me.

1) they are the cheapest :
http://www.perrush.be/art_buy_stock_images_ZEN_02.html

2) they have a subscription plan

Selecondly IS  >:( -> still a very good search engine, a lot of good vectors and of course some exclusive content.  But the most expensive of the lot.

I doubt IS will ever do it, it's the only good point about IS that they at least value the work of their contributors to some extend.

TNX, now I know the reason why they have the lowest payout ratio (20%) of ALL, and I repeat OF ALL, stocksites.

sharply_done will go exclusive as soon he reached diamond at IS i wonder why

And what will he do when IS introduces an subscription too ?

StockXpert.com / Re: Subscription Coming Soon to StockXpert
« on: September 28, 2007, 18:34 »
I have mixed feelings about this.

first DT offered subscription with the same reason as StockXpert now uses :

"We're only offering what other sites already offer"

In case of DT they ment SS.

But what they didn't tell was that a shutterstock subscription is for 750 images and costs something of $199 (please forgive me if mess up the numbers)

Then DT went in with a subscription of 300 images for only $90. Meaning that there will be a lot less downloads "given away" because 300 image / month is much more reasonable than 750.

DT also said they pay the same as SS -> meaning $0.25.  In the meanwhile SS raised the payout to $0.30 ... .... but we're still stock with $0.25 at DT.

What will StockXpert do ?  Offer a subscription of 200 images ? for $60 ??  And the next site ?  100 images for $30 ???  Before we know it we have 'subscriptions' of 10 images.

THATS MY CONCERN  in the end the competitions between the sites will lower are payout.

Remember, this is a little bit different market

indeed, and this is my problem for the moment.  Which kind of images sells better on macro's than on micro's ?  I don't have any idea.

And because microstocks yield me around $1.2/image/month , there is a certain risk involved for me putting a certain amount macros.

well, I guess I have almost 3 months to think about  ;D

the upload limit as Istock has always bothered me.

simple, there are just harassing you :o)   Exclusives have a much larger upload limit, so they just want you to become exclusive.  If not ... you'll have such a 'waiting list'

Maco,  of course there are exceptions.  But as you can see in the table under 7.1
http://www.perrush.be/SYF_micro_E_7.html
IS is for most of us not the big seller.  At average on 23% comes from IS.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: iStock - slow sales
« on: September 26, 2007, 10:16 »
strange enough sept will be my BME on IS.  But yet SS and ST will be a BME too.

I do understand those who went exclusive a few years ago, that made sense back then.  But I don't understand why someone would go exclusive nowadays.

firstly, it doesn't pay off.  IS makes only around 35% of the total income of those who contribute to multiple sites.  So even when you double your royalties (diamond) you're still losing money.

Secondly, it doesn't seem wise to put all your eggs in one basket in such a rapid changing business as stock photography is today.

There is only one reason why I could understand someone goes exclusive.  And that is the improved protections when you're images are misused.  BUT ... does anyone has ever heard of legal actions taken by IS to copyright offenders ?

There are 2 pirate CD's going around with only IS images on.  Is IS taking legal actions ?

I don't know ...

Well I must agree with the critiques.  Both images don't really visualize the theme.

But it's not the fault of the photographers they were chosen, I think the judges didn't do their job very good.

Nevertheless, someone has to win.  and then I rather like someone from 'us' to win then a complete outsider :o)  So enjoy your cam little penguin :o)

General Stock Discussion / Re: earn 1% extra with Moneybookers
« on: September 21, 2007, 04:39 »
Madelaide,

not sure about your question, I would just ask paypal support the same question.

About that request of payment I could say this :

-- quote---

When you reach the minimum payout amount, don't order a payment right away. Because then you have to wait until you reach that amount again. In the mean time you can't get any payments.
Instead wait until you reach twice the minimum payment amount. Then order a payment for only the minimum payment amount. In that way you can always withdraw all of your earnings at any time you want.

General Stock Discussion / earn 1% extra with Moneybookers
« on: September 20, 2007, 10:45 »
okay, I did the test.

used both Paypal and Moneybookers for payouts twice.  In both cases Moneybookers had an exchange rate which was 0.01 point (around 1%) more profitable than the rate from paypal.

So I think I'll switch to moneybookers completely.  It isn't a lot of money, but I don't have to do anything extra for it either.

Did write everything in a little article :
http://www.perrush.be/SYF_moneybookers_or_paypal.html

any remarks ?
