Finally Russia have send a clear message: dear Americans, your time as world policeman is over. You have been dropping bombs on Syria, Iraq, Libya, Serbia, Vietnam, Japan, etc., but it stops right now. What you gonna do? Will you crap your pants? Yes you will.

Yahahahaha

Hungary 1956 & 1968, Afghanistan 1979 to 89, Chechnya, The Warsaw pact keeping everyone under the thumb and Syria and now Ukraine.

Russia propping up dictators like Sadam and Gaddafi plus dozens of other wannabe genocidal maniacs.

Vietnam the forceable reintegration by the Communist north supported by the Russians.  Korean war started by the Communist north supported by the Russians and Chinese.

Whats the one thing in common?? Yes Russian imperialism

So keep your Putin kool aid and read a bit of history. 8)

I forgot to say "Botski"  ;D

Already stock markets are crashing, oil prices are rocketing up and COVID is still in the mix.

Recession next?

Ugh.

Putin enjoys sowing misery and chaos. It's the one thing he does very well.

So now he's having his way with the whole world, spreading misery and chaos everywhere, not just in Ukraine (although for sure they are getting the worst of it).

I'm sure he's loving it.

Very biased. Guilt goes to NATO and American politics. They have caused this tragedy and only Europe will experience tragedy. Sad but true.

Keep drinking the Putin kool aid Russian botnik  ;D

I'm not pro Russian. I just try to observe the world with open eyes. Try yourself sometimes. It helps.  ;)

Perhaps you'd like to explain what your open eyes have taught you to the rest  of us*.
I take it to the Off-topic forum, though.

I am aware that Trump has praised Putin: "He is pretty smart. Hes taken over a country for $2 worth of sanctions,... really a vast, vast location, a great piece of land with a lot of people and just walking right in.
Him against the rest?! Do you see how you put it? And he explained it to you, and the rest, whoever the rest are. The reason Russia had to take this action is because NATO (read -US) was planning to bring Ukraine in NATO, which means US army on Russian borders. Anybody informed about military, geopolitics and anything related knows that is an extreme danger for Russia's safety. Russia warned NATO million times in the past years about this. Ukraine in NATO means balance of terror would be disturbed.
The war and the invasion and suffering of innocent people are horrible, but I don't remember this kind of hate (not strong word enough for what I see here) when US invaded - Iraq, Syria, Libya and Serbia. And killing of all those people there.
I'm so disappointed in this community, not because taking a side here - it can be easily explained, it is a side of a victim. But, for not taking the side of a victim in the previously mentioned invasions made by US.
Which makes it clear - it is a horrifying  and an unbelievable hate of everything Russian.
I'm not Russian myself, but being someone who went through a lengthy war, and being on frontlines, and being hated by enemy   and knowing how this hate ends (terror and massacre) it wouldn't surprise me that if you (and the rest, whoever the rest are) had a chance to be in the front of a captured Russian solder - you would torture him. I've been there, and I guarantee, after reading your words here - that you would torture a captured solder.

What nonsense. Countries have freed themselves from the Soviet Union because they no longer wanted to belong to it and for fear of Russia they joined the West.
Things weren't so cheerful under Stalin either. And also think of Warsaw Pact invasion of Czechoslovakia in 1968.
We have absolutely nothing against the Russian people. It's just sad. I even wrote that we have a monument in the village in memory of the Russians, who died here together with the English against the French of Napoleon.
Ukraine itself has asked for membership, which has been refused.
Finland and Sweden, which are now also thinking of membership out of fear, are under threat.
But strange that as a new member you immediately join this discussion. Are you also going to talk about photos?

What do I think when I hear Putin calling a leader of Ukraine a Nazi, when the man is Jewish and has lost family in the second world war??
When I hear Putin say that it is an exercise and that troops are withdrawing??
Come on. He's just taking a piece of land like our ancient kings used to do
We Dutch should attack Flanders in Belgium because that used to belong to the Netherlands after all.
You talk like five year old. Complete nonsense. You skipped all the classes after elementary school. I'm not willing to get in conversation with you. I can talk about video if you want. This is not photos exclusive forum.
He is a Jew, but also a cocaine addict. used to play piano with his d.ck
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HbmZrzN3WFE
Not a serious individual at all, installed by US.

I already had removed the comment about photos. But it surprised me a bit. Also because you regularly read about trolls.
I have been a teacher for thirty years and 72. Then you will say you are getting too old and you must have been a bad teacher.  ;)
As for what I wrote. There is no falsehood in that.
But I don't want to argue with you any further. Keep fantasizing.
Nice long thread, lets make it longer. Oh, another oldy. I really didn't know what I'm getting involved in here. What  a waste of time arguing with a bunch of nursing home residents.

Spoken like true Putin kool aid drinking Botski  ;D

Now get back to posting on RT's comments section  ;D

I'll heading shortly to a protest at the Russian Embassy in Madrid to get some content. Wish me luck!

Good luck! Stay safe! Give Putin hell!!!!!!!!!!!
Excuse me, but this is not place to talk about politics or geopolitics. Who are you to decide who is good and who is bad?

Excuse me, but I have been on this forum since 2013. You just joined 3 weeks ago.

I am classified as a "Diamond Member." You are an "Active Newbie."

So who are you to decide what is good and what is bad in anything here?
Everything I told you is reasonable. What a member's status has to do with common sense and with being polite?

In case you had not noticed this forum will allow discussions about any subject in this case its related to stock sales.

There is also a section to discuss anything at all if you wish.

« on: February 12, 2022, 00:19 »
Shutterstock is on an irreversible down path. Adobe is already the leader and will be for a long time (quicker than I thought). If they would add editorial they would crush even more Getty and SS.

Getty has long arms and still a big foot inside many doors. If they get the money they need selling their BCC- stock with their return to the stock market the nexts months they might also surpass SS. Oringer chose the way out and cashing with his pal. Good riddance to both. They will be gone quite soon and whoever owns SS in the future I doubt they will be ever recovered the trust of their stabbed in the back contributors.

Dont be surprised if Adobe follows the practices of the other companies at some point. Some of you should recognize the pattern.

"Getty has become evil! Istock is great so we need to support them!"
"Istock has become evil! Shutterstock is great so we need to support them!"
"Shutterstock has become evil. Adobe is great so we need to support them!"

Lets all hope this wont happen!

General Stock Discussion / Re: This month's sales
« on: January 31, 2022, 01:26 »
Shitterstock is a pile of beans this month but I'm sure Stan Pavlosky is doing alright  ::)

To put some context on shitterstock

Jan 18 ~ $318 sales 287 rpd 1.11
Jan 19 ~ $212 sales 287 rpd 0.73
Jan 20 ~ $125 sales 225 rpd 0.56
Jan 21 ~ $100 sales 218 rpd 0.45
Jan 22 ~ $50   sales 157 rpd 0.32 (up to Jan 28)

 :(

For a few moments there, I thought you were talking your daily rates for January 2022, not your January totals since 2018 (had to read an older post for context).  Was thinking, what's wrong with this guy, he earns hundreds of dollars a day on a bad month ha ha.

Oh, that would have meant over $9,500 just in shutterstock in one month for Mimi for 2018. There weren't that many sellers who could do that at the time.

I did correct the post to show whole years  ;)

Anyway in the meantime my RPD dropped to $0.31 while Adobe is $0.87

I'll make just over $50 for January 2022 on shitterstock

Just reached 101 with a piss poor start.   ::)

Extrapolating based on this months earnings for 2022 I'll be lucky to see $600 this year as opposed to $3,000 on my best year in 2018.

shutterstock no longer has the capacity to maintain the forum. It's all the more amazing how often they ask me to participate in the contributor survey. I get it at least once a week.

After months I uploaded an image again. It was rejected because of noise. With all other agencies the problem did not exist. But I don't care. If they don't want it, they don't want it. I do not make a second attempt.

I saw an ss blog and an example for noise they gave in a photo was the factory ceiling at 100% but I can't see it. https://www.shutterstock.com/blog/how-to-avoid-a-visual-noise-rejection
There may be color noise but I'm not sure. The other examples are easy to see though. I had to start shooting in RAW to get rid of this color noise but SS still rejected some of my pics for another type of noise or grain especially ones with trees or foliage. The same pics were accepted on adobe and they are pretty strict in what they accept.

They should be so fussy for 10 cents  ;D what a joke.

Their quality rules are really all over the place judging by most of the poorly lit and poorly framed junk they take these days.

Alamy.com / Re: Alamy sale for 7 cents
« on: December 31, 2021, 11:35 »
Add me to this proud list.  I just netted 4 cents.

For a while this year I thought things were improving, as I had a few substantial sales.   But that petered out.  And now this.

The start of a new year is a good time to clean house.  Alamy was my only remaining microstock; I kept some photos there because the sale prices didn't make me feel like a chump.   But there's no way to spin 4 cents.

Sorry to be vindictive, but it would be a good lesson to Alamy if the response to this "exciting new opportunity" was a loss of a bunch of contributors.

And if you made less than $250 gross by July 2022 they'll put you on the 20% royalty scheme instead of their generous 40% royalties. :'(

If they keep up with these penny sub micros sales we'll all struggle to make the $250 threshold.

Or perhaps thats the aim

Is there any option to shut off this distributor channel?

If there isn't I will probably just close the account.  I don't need to be insulted with 4 cent sales, I get enough putdowns in my daily life :-)

Yes but they only allow you to opt out once per year in April.

Doesn't make any difference as I was opted out of Chinese distributor sales years ago and they still have my images selling through a distributor.

There's no point complaining here they don't read it.

« on: December 26, 2021, 01:12 »
...after Envato effectively withdrew the bonus scheme in 2019, then shutterstock cut rates and Alamy chopped 20% off royalties.

The greed of stock agencies is now beyond the joke.

You make it sound like they did withdraw the bonus scheme when they didn't. If they did then sure, we could put that down to greed. But they didn't withdraw it, they just changed the way its distributed. They still pay it out, and the total amount they pay out is still calculated the same way... and as subscribers have increased a lot since they changed the way it was distributed, they're also paying out a lot more than they used to.

So yes, the bonus may have been 'effectively withdrawn' for you, but the bonus scheme hasn't gone anywhere... and as a result, it has nothing to do with greed.

The only thing I have to say to you is

Envato
July 2019 $290.89 Total Earnings  Content Bonus $266.09

August 2019 36.82 Total Earnings Content Bonus $10.63

Total Envato earnings for 2018 $2715.74 in 2020 $244

So there you go

Envato / Re: Envato's 2021 Public Impact Statement

I used to make $200 to $300 per month with Envato

Now I'm lucky to make $15 per month

I used to make similar amounts with shutterstock now I'm lucky to make $100

I used to make decent amounts with Alamy until they cut rates

I used to make a reasonable living but now I don't and finding a job at my age is next to impossible.

So now I go hungry a lot of the time and use my dwindling savings to pay the bills

Thats my impact statement  :'(

So I'm not the only one......my biggest regret was staying past April 1 2019 when sales imploded on that very day at Pond5, now I am facing bankruptcy.

I won't ask your age but that's an issue and it's getting worse, they want under 25 with the looks, fitness and face of a 16 year old and it's like this for everything from the local car wash to fast food places to grocery stores to cleaning and building maintenance to high tech and if you have the slightest health problem you're unemployable for good.

It's been one heck of a wake up call for me this fall as my sales ended in stock and I started looking for work, I love driving, put a steering wheel in my hands and I'm happy and can easily go for 18 hours and I love working around cars and trucks but I got told by the boss at a local car rental shop that "This job isn't for you buddy....you need to find something in your field" (video) and when I told him that my field, stock video is basically gone away his response was "you can find something in your field just keep looking". "you don't want this job".

I'm too young to get the pension and too old to even get interviews for simple jobs.

Though I've turned my hand to volunteering to beef up my CV as well as casual work.  I even applied for shop work but never get interviews even though I have a good CV as I don't have relevant experience.

My sales dropped 60% from 2019/2020 and the whole try harder thing is negated by 10 cent sales and a few bucks here and there from Alamy.

As to the other agencies Adobe is on track to make $1000 this year exactly the same as last year and the smaller agencies no longer even make payout in 12 months.

However the bills keep going up  :'(

Competition will grow always. You have to run, run and keep on running.
Technology will evolve and will make things easier.
Young, energetic and creative kids will adapt to new technology and will find success in short span.

The key is to keep on learning and remain in the field.

I'm sorry but I no longer believe that kool aid nonsense

I spent years looking after my elderly mother using stock income to support myself from 2012.

She died in 2020  not long after Envato effectively withdrew the bonus scheme in 2019, then shutterstock cut rates and Alamy chopped 20% off royalties.

The greed of stock agencies is now beyond the joke.

So no I don't believe this nonsense and the virtue signalling from agencies.
