iStockphoto.com announced today that they are warrantying that files purchased and used in accordance with the iStock license, will not breach any trademark, copyright or other intellectual property rights or rights of privacy. This is a direct hit on the only other micro to offer this, Vivozoom: http://www.microstockgroup.com/index.php?topic=5777.0Personally, I am very excited about the new buyers this will bring, from the many posts, "My employer won't buy from iStock because there is no guarantee". http://www.istockphoto.com/forum_messages.php?threadid=116351

Say I have found a web site using my content in a prohibited way as listed in the license agreement it was downloaded under. They are being unresponsive in taking it down. Can I claim they are using the content and infringing my copyright as I did not give them permission to use it in that way, and have the host remove it? The host I can contact with no problem. "the complaining party has a good faith belief that use of the material is not authorized by the copyright owner" http://www.chillingeffects.org/dmca512/faq.cgi#QID440What do you think?

Saw this on a news site: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/04/22/AR2009042200900.html"There's another online marketplace for buying and selling stock photographs in town, and its name is ClusterShot." I like this line: "Like Adography, the quality bar is intentionally set quite low. Basically, anyone is free to upload images, even amateurs willing to contribute crappy photos of their pets."

Leo brought up something on iStock: http://www.istockphoto.com/forum_messages.php?threadid=86608&page=1About whether stock royalties should be reported as income on Schedule C, or as royalties on Schedule E on US tax forms. Getty is reporting the income under box 2 "Royalties" on the 1099-MISC, instead of box 7 "Non-employee compensation" which I think is where this is coming from. I report all my stock income on Schedule C. Anybody have any discussion with their tax professional on this train of thought? C or E ?
