I don't know if all of his portfolio is lifted from other artists, I just know that three of mine were. SS took those three down after I reported it.
I looked at 5 or so by screen capturing ones that were unique enough for an image based search to match. All of them were other artists.

there is plenty of evidence online that shutterstock uses reviewers from all over the world. You just need to look on linkedin

Wanting to believe something is true doesn't make it so. Shutterstock's financial position is quite strong from what I can see or do you have evidence to the contary?
Revenue has plateaued, Net income/margin is down and declining for the past 3 years Not to mention all the bad policies. Just look at glassdoor and some of the recent reviews. Seems like the good ones(not all) might be written by HR. It took masterfile 6 years to go under completely. I think masterfile's lease agreement for their office was one of their biggest issues at the end. Take a look at SS lease agreement see what you think. https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1549346/000110465913040280/a13-8713_1ex10d1.htmlots of other signs but I'll leave it to you to research. I'm not saying that SS will total go under but they've made lots of bad choices that are similar to what masterfile did. SS still has time to turn things around.

Glad I left that sinking ship years ago.
Shutterstock is doing on of the same things and is sinking fast.
Yeah, but no. There is quite a difference between blue whale Shutterstock and plankton Crestock.
The writing is on the wall. Whether you choose to read it or not. That's your choice.

Masterfile filed bankruptcy too. They haven't been paying contributors for years. While trying to startup new businesses. (picrights.com) which they don't pay the copyright owner as well.

I got some nonsense rejection about my motion graphics clips being "pillarboxed", whatever that is. Well, let's try again....
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pillarbox
I figured that's what it meant, but anyone with eyeballs can see that's not the case.
Check the resolution and aspect ratio to see if it matches their acceptable resolutions and ratios. That rejection has 3 possible issues with the video.

Are there any Russian contributors here that were affected? If so, did you use a VPN to get around going to the shutterstock submit site?

In my experience Alamy standards have dropped as I get stuff through that I wouldn't in the past. I can't say I've noticed AS have raised standards...it may seem that way as everywhere else has dropped them! All the agencies probably have a rating system on a per image basis. Higher rated images show up first in searches. The lowest rated images never show up unless the client search produces 0 results. The standards are just hidden from contributors in the form of better search algorithms.

As always, it depends on the image or video clip and what story (if any) it is telling. And, to be honest, moderators are looking at thousands of assets every day and so like any agency we don't always get it 100% correct all of the time. Wish I could say otherwise, but that's the truth.
For video, I have challenges in trying to get moderators to differentiate between a good rack focus and being out of focus. And some wandering focus can be okay if it's done well. Sigh, there's never any perfect method, but we're working on improving guidelines and continually train our moderators on what's appropriate to accept.

Transparency Kudos to Adobe for actively speaking to the stock community. Crickets from ss. Which is one of the reasons Adobe will over take the top spot in sales soon.

Seems like Shutterstock is trying to suppress content to let Adobe take the lead in sales.
Now if only Adobe would accept editorial content from all contributors. I think they would pull ahead.

The model signing date and witness signing date probably don't match or those dates have been altered.

I love BB as well and the 15% is a wash as you get a higher % from SS per download as you would on your own.
Since Blackbox is in Canada. Do they disclose the 10% that the IRS withholds for Canadians on Film Royalties? or have they found away around that? That seems to be more like 23.5% rather than 15% and Does the CRA withhold another 10% when Blackbox pays out to US residents? 31.2% if that's the case.

Well done. I appreciated hearing what you had to say. I think you hit the mark on all the agencies.

Maybe reviewers feel the same about some contributors?

Any opinion on whether it is better to use .MP4 or. MOV as a video file container format?
Everything I found online says they are about the same. MOV was developed by Apple way back and MP4 was developed later as a more general standard.
I recently switched to h264 and mp4 to reduce file size on the uploads. I was embedding the metadata with in the file in .mov with exiftools, since fotolia didn't have a way to import the metadata otherwise. Now adobe does have a way to import the metadata with a csv file.
