Alamy.com / Re: Zero Tolerence at Alamy

8 months for 50 images for your first sale isn't really all that bad.  If you put it into the numbers perspective, 50 barely registers as the overall percent of their 10+ million images.

Yep - and that's primarily why I gave up on them...It was encouraging getting the third sale last month. I've had two at over $200 and one at a little over $100. I'll be uploading more knowing that it is possible to find my image out of 10,000,000 images!

Yes, very slowly... took me 8 months to get my first sale with a portfolio of about 50 images. I gave up contributing to Alamy for awhile because of the weak sales. I'm now at 3 sales with a portfolio of about 80 images after almost 2 years. I'm going to focus on them again knowing that it is possible to make sales on a very small portfolio.

I just got a rejection from iStock copyright issues on wooden ABC blocks. They've been accepted everywhere else but IS. I even removed the little pictures on the sides of the blocks so it was all wood grain on the sides and the front had the letter. I can see where they're coming from but it still pisses me off...

October: .74 per image at SS with 232 images

3.82 per image at iStock with 41 images - which puts SS and IS neck-and-neck with about 35-40% per site of my total earnings... September was $4 per image with only 31 images up. I was really surprised at the earning power of IS.

Dreamstime.com / Re: New DT Search Engine Sucks!

My sales are steady. But what gets me is that mine are the only ones that seem to get rejected for "similar submissions"

Search for "newborn" and you see a lot from one contributor - Moshi (or something like that), most of which look the same. Then do a search for "blocks" and there are a whole load from Beatricekill that look very similar.

Nothing like doing a search and the first 4-5 pages are all from the same contributors - likely to make a designer go elsewhere where they will see more variety.

Adobe Stock / FT search working?
« on: November 02, 2007, 12:08 »
I am starting to get sales every day again after a period of about 5-6 months where I was only getting sporadic sales - maybe 20 a month. I haven't really added anything groundbreaking to it that would account for the sales increase. I only have about 240 images total. Up until recently FT was accounting for about 3-4% of total sales - tieing with StockXpert. Even 123RF was beating it. So is the new FT search engine finally working correctly?  I'm glad - it's like the good old times where I was getting anywhere from 3-6 sales notification emails a day.

Off Topic / Re: Domain Names. What's yours and why?

vividpixels.net - which there is nothing really there other than a canned rapidweaver design as a placeholder. I am hoping to get something up someday.

I too spent a few days looking through the online thesaurus looking up words and their synonyms and finally settled on "vividpixels"  - .com was taken  so I went with .net, .org, and .us
I am a retoucher and do stock in my spare time, so I thought that vividpixels was a perfect name for what I had in mind for my future plans, which are still a bit cloudy but at least I have a good solid name to start with!

Remember you can promote an image or your entire gallery once a week at StockXpert.

How do you do that? I just tried to search the SX forums but it seems there is no search tool there...

Thanks!
