Not to keen on the new swivel screen thats a turn off   ;)

The whole idea of usage for me is candids or grab shots when I do not want to Lug all my equipment around and would have preferred to keep it as compact and convenient as possible with the screen fixed, not bothered about self portraits, may wait and see how much the G10 drops in price

Hardly good news and this from the Agency that ties you in for six months

I am surprised there have not been more protests about this in their Forum, I for one will be uploading with less vigor and concentrating my efforts elswhere. Despite the spin (sub increase on higher level Files will not come close to compensating for me) it will still result in a substantial financial loss for most Contributers other than perhaps Exclusives.

130
Thank you a most useful tip for Shutterstock should i ever take the exclusive plunge  :)

131
Oops good point.... nothing new then

When they change the best match the site doesn't lose sales over it, but individual contributors see an increase or decrease in sales.  If they never changed it the same people would get the best exposure always.  This time it has worked out very well for me the last time it killed off most of my best sellers but I was lucky enough that a few of my new ones took off. It's all swings and roundabouts.

Not to sure about that ( loosing sales ) would be interesting if IS published their monthly figures :-\  a Neighbors Company is one Customer lost due to the misunderstanding of a pricing increase with the latest best match change, just one who has voted with their feet however if my July stats are anything to go by with IS where I have my main Portfolio being -35% with  significant gains at my other Agencies He is not alone.

DT is a total mystery to me these days. It used to be a close second to IS. It now falls behind even 123rf. At this moment, my IS sales are 6 times more than that of DT with the portfolios of very similar size.

I wonder if FT is taking away its buyers.

Yes suspect they have  ... DT has really slowed down for me, hardly drop by any more

Sorry to hear this approach is being used. As regards the vetta I have just enjoyed browsing through, however like the standard collection have found that though mostly stunning Imagery is available within the collection I was surprised  to also find some very ordinary Files in there.  :o Think there is a little work to be done  ;) would hardley call a very avarage blossom Image with a defocussed background cutting edge . Still an intersting devopment still in the makeing

^ yes that has already been confirmed by buyers over in the IS forum^

As you say it could put many Customers off and to be franc seems to create a division within the Exclusive content rather than the bump all Crowns received in a previous best match shake up

Dreamstime.com / Re: No views, no sales
« on: June 22, 2009, 03:40 »
Here what you are saying....

I have been at Dreamstime a good few years and it has performed well in the past however sales have tanked of late (more so since the search change) and with new images not performing for me there and the ever changing stat of the microstock industry had to ask myself what is the point in tying myself to this Agency for 6 months with little reward so stopped uploading. Shame but just think it is rather important to keep options open round about now especially with the Getty strokes and SS less than its usual dependable self ;)

« on: December 17, 2008, 06:44 »
Ivan have you tried approaching any of the Agencies yet? That could be the way to go..

as a Contributer you should now have a feel of what is stock and what is not ... and the little quirks  and niche each Agency holds dear ;) Like many you will properly have learnt more from your rejections than you accepted files.

Guess it is just a case of applying all of the above and do not forget that each inspector will recieve extensive training

Go for it!! and good Luck   :)

Thank you clearviewstock. Well, I can say I am interested. Just, I don't think I am qualified...at least not yet :) but one day... I hope...
This kind of work really attracts me...

To be honest I am not sure about the 'being qualified thing' I was muddling along when out of the Blue I get a request to become a reviewer from one of the top Boys in microstock based on "My Photoshop skills and Forum activity" I was very flattered and somewhat surprised but had to decline as it ment removing my Portfolio from other Agencies

If he's so concerned with dropping profits, I'm still surprised he's going around training his competition.  That doesn't make any sense to me.

Well now lets think about this ... rather suspect that it is because He is pretty confident about dealing with his compitition and rightly so with his talent and set up I dont think He has an awful lot to fear from many

I'm getting lazy and day-dream about uploading to just one site.  ...

...The good thing is, you are free to change your mind and can be released from the contract in 30 days. This is less commitment than some sites require for merely uploading your files to their site.

While that's true, it's misleading. Anyone who has achieved any success on other sites has seen their income rise because of it. SS, DT and FT pay you more for higher sales (either per contributor at SS and FT or per image DT). When you go exclusive you're giving that all up and need to start over if you then change your mind.

I think that avoiding uploads to multiple sites is about the worst reason I can think of for considering IS exclusivity :)

Spot on! ..... I so agree, the often used sweeping comment of 'Oh well if going Exclusive does not work out you have lost nothing'  is anything but true and this is what concerns me about taking the plunge at IS amongst may other factors I have to say lol. I have worked hard over 3 years to build a Portfolio at my chosen Agencies and the thought of having to re-upload or I should say start again from scratch ( as that is what it would be with the ever changing demands and trends of micro stock with no doubt many Files not being excepted ) is something I would not want to do so think hard if you have an established Portfolio elsewhere indeed there IS an awful lot to loose.

Good Luck

Without a shadow of a doubt Shutterstock better income and not all the rubbish going on there...

this time last year I would have said IS but not now ?? no way!!

144
Glaudia as Becky says things are rather strange over there right now with talk of  rejections of work which has been accepted elsewhere on mass this is why I am not bothering to upload right now yet they are worth the effort for sure ......

I have a small amount of Images there, just over a Hundred and they are bringing in a nice little sum in fact they are doing better than Dreamstime for me where my portfolio is three times the size.

Leave it a little while  have a break ... smell the flowers ;) then have another go!

Regards

surprised to hear this at SS as last month was good and this month even better for me with over 800 downloads and an EL sale, also my referrals have had a stella month so all in all delighted with results as my Portfolio is just over 400 Files ....

In contrast to IS which used to be my top earner and is now like watching paint dry  :D it is now the last place I check

Hi there,

Landscapes are often regarded as not the best subject for stock,  however yes they do indeed  sell, in fact some of my best sellers and Flames are Landscapes ...... just make sure they stand out from the Crowd with Impact and Colours that Pop  ;) that said I also lace my Portfolio with all sorts from Grunge to Glam  ;D

Diversity my friend, good luck
