You are welcome mjb,

What is your target market area (just Finland, scandinavia or world wide?)
Our target market area is worldwide.

Quote
I see you company has just started (registered date 18.03.2009), but how you are going to enter market and get buying customers?
In terms of buying customers, if a buyer needs a photo or an illustration on Fotomina which is not available on other big stock photo company, he will verify first if the company is legally registered and then he will buy for sure... Unfortunately, we have few photos and illustrations but we are trying to invite Artists like you to upload their stock and we are working on vector and photo stock now. When we will have a good stock we will start our marketing project (Google sponsored results, etc...)  We will give also the chance to amateur artists to upload their artwork and photos since it becomes very difficult to approve photos on Big 6 even if it's perfect and like that we will have our unique stock..

Quote
Lot of new companies are entering in the market place and many will fail because lack of funding to even get things running 6-12 months.
Don't worry... We have studied the project very well; we know what buyers need and contributors needs like:
- IPTC import.
- Good SEO.
- Minimum of 10$ payout.
- Fast approve.
- They can delete their photos anytime.
- Good support.
- Etc.

And all that is available on FOTOMINA...  ;D

Is  FTP  Available?

Since I only shoot food and stilllife my prop cost me no more then  $5.00  ;D ;D

How about bombs away ;D

No don't crop.  Empty space is good for advertising, also called copy space.

Hi everybody

I've sent a lot of different images (persons, backgrounds, textures, signals, buildings, animals, nature...) and all of them were refused with ther same problem:

"This is a very well covered subject in our data base"

what about it?
they have enough images of everything?
I'm not original I guess...
As An example I searched for soft boiled eggs result =318 images my photo was approved.
If I would have uploaded textures the result would be 30,290 images  result = "This is a very well covered subject in our data base"
Always search for the photo Idea before uploading
My 2cents
hmm you are probably right, but would it not be more accurate to compare food with textures?
try food against texture of a sunfloer seed against a green background covered with snow flakes  ;)

Sunflower seed texture 204 images  would work well over food which has 453,992 images

Bigstock.com / Re: How to delete images here?
« on: March 15, 2009, 05:36 »
How can I delete an image?
Make a request at the Contact Us page please. Remember that by uploading, you do agree to allow BigStockPhoto to use and sell your photo, and pay you for it, forever basically. That being said we are reasonable people and if we get a request to remove a photo, most likely, we'll take it off the site for you. But we can't prevent anyone who has already downloaded/purchased it from using it.

Also be aware of the 90 day window - you cannot under any circumstances remove a photo from our site within 90 days of pushing it into the Approval Queue. This is to prevent photographers from requesting removal of their photos after our approvers have spent significant time, energy, and resources approving, editing, adding keywords, categories, ranking and reviewing the photos, not to mention bandwidth, marketing and overhead costs.

They ALL start out overly user friendly.... but when/if (big IF nowdays) they become successful is when things start to change.

Just look at Fotolia, they started out as the most user friendly site of them all, and then when they turn successful, based laregly on OUR work, they screw us over.

FOTOLIA.... first agency to LOWER commissions

Lets  have positive thinking.  I have been with dreamstime .com from the begining they where nice then and still are now
I believe John will be the same.

Dreamstime.com / Re: Dreamstime Just Broke ProStockMaster
« on: February 20, 2009, 14:29 »
Well, yes it says it has uploaded the files successfully, but they never showed up in the "unfinished files" section. (I do have the registered version of ProStockMaster.)

Were you able to finish the files? Are you on a PC? I'm on a Mac.

I am on a PC  my file uploaded fine  sometimes it takes awhile to appear in the unfinished files

Dreamstime just broke my favorite upload tool, ProStockMaster. Dreamstime now requires you to enter a number code before uploading.

Prostockmaster is working fine  no need for number code for my version

Just noticed they have a dreamstime and shutterstock collection

Dreamstime.com / Re: Advise on DT Please beefore I upload to them.
« on: February 13, 2009, 14:11 »
Thanks to all for the help and valuable information on DT. I'm getting close to signing up with them and I have one more question.

All people require a model release even if their back is to the camera. That I understand .... but how about if they are a long ways from the camera?  (Like this sample I found on DT.)

There must be some point where a release is not required on long distance shots.   Yes?

To the Photographer, I posted a link to your port here without permission. Hope it is OK. ( ..and I like your shot!)

If people are recognizable at 100% magnification yes you need a model release

General Stock Discussion / Re: Get Paid Shooting Nothing
« on: January 29, 2009, 05:36 »
I think this blog post is not shooting anyone on the foot, and it is about sharing. If I'm not mistaken, that what we are on this forum for, right ? Or are you guys giving false info to drive new comers like me in the wrong direction ? Hope not...

If he had given the 20 main specific subject matters that make his portfolio unique, then maybe it would be shooting himself on the foot. But this is not the case. What I get from the post is the general message that you don't need a big infrastructure and world class models to be productive, keep your eye open, you might have gems around you, and don't underestimate what you could consider as commodities. For example, I personnally got some great textures on public domain websites for some projects, so I considered textures as a pure commodity and didn't think about uploading them on stock websites.

This is a general approach to share, a starting point. Thank you so much for this.

I agree with totony  xposurepro is being helpful and informative I have been taking pictures of senseless objects and making money at it for years.  ;D

« on: December 30, 2008, 07:04 »
Which software do you use for automatic backups?

Acronis True Image 11 is very good you can set this as a task to backup your entire
harddrive. on a particular day and time

For 30 bucks you can get a pro account on Fotki with unlimited uploads by FTP. You can even download your stuff by FTP if you loose it. I signed up a couple of months ago and I'm pretty happy so far. You can integrate your Fotki gallery into your website. Here is my Fotki site

http://asianimage.fotki.com/

Hi shiyali
Your website on fotki is very nice I am thinking of  signing up for a pro account selling prints may be a good idea
my question is are you selling prints on a steady basis.

Hi, Shank!

It would be great to see you on SS!

I heard they give 35 cents after you have sold more than 500 files. I've already sold 331 after joining in the end of July this year (compared to 209 sales after 2 years on iStock). Beware, though, that they have a rigorous entry exam...

Here is my ref link, if you still need it :)

I think it's $500.00 not 500 files
