Not exactly answering your question, and more for designers/illustrators than photographers, but still about trendy colours : http://www.colourlovers.com/

thanks. I looked.  There is too much info there for me. But may be it is a good idea to subscribe to a magazine on the subject.

I'm in marketing, so these are marketing opinions.

Would a meek woman wear "really red" lipstick?

Agnostic - Don't know what created the sky but its a great marketing tool.

Green has made a huge comeback for obvious reasons.

"Would a meek woman wear "really red" lipstick?". True, true, true ...

Blue, then blue, then blue.

Did I say blue?
jmho.

then yellow, then red

Blue is corporate/professional, Yellow is warm, red is attention getting and aggressive.
who was that CEO that created the sky ? Are really red lips aggressive ?

123RF / Re: 123rf payment?
« on: July 15, 2008, 18:12 »
So, the payment should be today, right?
Coool, got my 140$ today! Sweet! This is my first payment from 123rf...

Lucky you!  I have been waiting for it and still don't have it as of 7:10pm EST.

Hopefully it will arrive soon?  They aren't usually late....

Me too, I did not get it yet as of 7:12pm EST.

What do you find are the most popular/dominant colors for images other than containing people. Red, yellow and blue ?

On 42 st and 5th ave in Brooklyn during Summer months there is an every night bazaar that lasts
into the wee hours of the morning. There are carnival rides, contests, food venders, and arts and crafts sellers as well.

It is a haven for artists and photographers who sell their work for next to nothing, especially in late Summer.
So to answer your question: "why are many writers an photographers  gathering late at night on 42nd and selling their work there ?"
well simply put there's money to be made.

These guys would sell their souls if they could to make a buck.

MIZ, your soul scanning abilities are impressive.

I didn't say anything about censoring him.  I said adding that tag in the title is not free reign to go off on any subject you want to.

sjlocke, why not ? MIZ amuses many. We can't be serious all the time.

" Professional Royalty-Free Stock Photography by Subscription". So will it add only to sub sales ?

To say Snapvillage is a sleeping giant would be an understatement.  I hope Brian's participation, combined with SV getting out of beta, is a sign that things will start moving soon.

I check the Alexa and Compete numbers for SV and other sites every few weeks.  The numbers are still very low relative to BigStock, which represents the bottom of the Big 7.  But that's nothing a well targeted advertising campaign couldn't turn around in a hurry.   8)

not a sleeping giant, but a naive offspring of  Microsoft. They can't do ftp, they can't redo their poor interface, they can't find customers.

I do  not find that reviewing on 123rf has changed at all. If they reject, that either means than image is of not so good  quality or they do not want any more images of the kind. 123rf acceptance rate is very high in general.

136
If you learn from your rejections, you acceptance ratio will grow with your portfolio.

My (all time) ratios are:
123 93%
DT 83%
SS ~83% - estimation, hard to say precisely not having data from the agency
FL 76%
IS ~75% - estimation, hard to say precisely not having data from the agency.

IS has acceptance stats. Click on "upload" that is on the left side of your profile page. You will see your acceptance rate under Misc Stats.

I can't find how to request a payment. I once did, couple of months ago. I am not finding anything about Paypal on 123rf site.

In answer to the question asked in this thread, I received exactly 2 replies.
All other answers were self centered weenie headed idiots carrying on about something else.

Makes me wanna stop posting questions altogether!

Very cheerful greeting on Sunday morning!  MIZ, are people on this forum your friends, competitors or unlearning disciples ?

To maintain sales you have to upload some every week.

« on: July 12, 2008, 08:02 »
thanks, David. I finally got it. Btw, your post about the Dodge tool has helped me a lot.

143
If I were wise, I would upload to only 2-3 sites that are on there right margin of this site. I do not think FP is dying, I think they make a nice profit, we get morsels, but it is our fault of judgment.

144
That's why FP is dying...

you are obviously privy to some inside information. Keep us informed.

145
Perhaps I did not make my question plain enough.
It's not about sales amount, or the amount of money to be made.

The question is which site serves both the photog and buyer equally from a fair price point of view.

FP

146
In my opinion only SS and IS really pay.  Photogs produce images and SS and IS find enough buyers for the images. Other agencies fail in that. For that reason DT
rotates the portfolios.

by Shanghai time it is Sat, by EST it is still Friday.

thanks, I see that I am behind .. But now I do not see why one does not upload the same images to Alamy as to microstock.

Alamy.com / Re: Soft or lacking definition rejections
« on: July 11, 2008, 15:01 »
I do not find that Alamy playing any games with us. My images were rejected when I did sharpen them a lot. When I begun submitting images that were barely sharpen all of them were accepted. My problem with Alamy that I have there around 150 images and no sales ever in 8 months.
