I put mine on the poll. Worst month ever but it was my fault. Had a computer virus stopped me from submitting for 21 days.

terrible virus, almost like a period. my condolences.

He's back!

I like MIZ. his sensor of humor is a God's gift! Sometimes he crossed the boarders of decency. What is  intriguing that there are was a brilliant predecessor of the same extraction.

Dreamstime.com / Re: Portfolio exposure
« on: August 28, 2008, 22:44 »
It's the relationship of the size of your portfolio to the biggest one on the site (currently iofoto, I think). At one point, when Andres had the biggest portfolio there, mine was 22%, but that shrank as the growth in extra large portfolios exploded.

I'm not sure that it has any significance unless it plays into placement in the default search results somehow.

thanks! I would never guess it right.

DT's profile shows Portfolio exposure stat. What does it represent ? Mine is 8%. Is it high, low, average?

Hey guys,

I just got my 4 pictures rejected at QC at Alamy and by looking at the QC report  i know which one is it. Would you advice to resubmit the 3 good ones in my next batch ?
Thanks for your help
L

Yes, I did that and it worked.

yes those $5 sales are adding up.

It is quite believable, but when I click on DT or SS icons below your post they lead to nowhere.

SnapVillage.com / Re: Strange Royalty Amount at SV
« on: August 21, 2008, 23:06 »
Whenever I click on my royalty amount at Snapvillage, instead of getting my sales figures, I get a strange message:

Current month accrued royalty:  No royalties have been accrued

What does this mean?   Does anyone else get this strange message?

::)

it means SV sucks.

@vphoto - was your post directed towards me, cdwheatley or chumley?

toward chumley, I have read two threads too quickly.

I remember a short while ago when Fotolia was weighting placement on the amount of keywords. I did a little test with a couple of similar images the only difference was one was horizontal and other vertical. The vertical one had less than ten keywords and got excellent search positioning. Horizontal version had about 50 keywords and ok placement, not great. Months later the horizontal version with many keywords is winning 34-27 on Fotolia. A single test probably doesn't hold much water but I thought I would offer the info.

also, your talking about fotolia, and we are talking about dreamstime.  Two totally different games.

chumley,
you have certainly missed an exchange of views with MIZ. BTW, he has warned us
of smiling faces and your avatar is smiling ...

It seems that nothing changed after I reached $500 mark. It still adds .25 per each photo. When is thing going to change, next day, next month?

next day. I was also  puzzled by the amount not changing immediately. But within 12 hours it worked ok.

Cameras / Lenses / Re: Buying your very first DSLR?
« on: August 17, 2008, 18:42 »
I dont care about camera material, it can be made out of paper if it produces large and good enough images.

If you take your camera to outdoor harsh conditions, a paper camera would not be a good choice...

There may be differences in life between plastic x metal.

Adelaide

for mentally stable fotogs camera body would not matter much. People with more inquisitive minds could hit it against a wall after a rejection.

For a site with such a low sales volume are you sure it's a good idea to be giving images away for nothing!

RT, are you one of those who would not give even an image away to hungry, poor, afflicted with leprosy microstocks?

Not true. IS is the most consistent in reviewing.

Yes they are certainly the most  consistently inconsistent.

your are right. this obvious truth has escaped me. I would like to improve on
you excellent phrasing. they are the most consistently inconsistent responding to falsehood.

TAnd uploading to a bunch of others takes so much time and energy..

Yeah, but you can upload to all the other sites in the same amount of time as uploading to Istock; Yuri Arcurs did an study:

http://www.arcurs.com/uploading-time-average

Great link and very true. And if you think the submission process at IS is slow for photos, try uploading a vector. You have to submit 2 files per submission and enter all metadata by hand.

IS requires the most time to submit, is the slowest to review, and is by far the most likely to reject stockworthy images for arbitrary or non-existent 'reasons'.

Not true. IS is the most consistent in reviewing.

some designers retire, some loose the data on their computers, some can't find the images they bought, some always look for newer images. thus a  photog would be always to sell at least one image during a lifetime.

vectors are useful but lifeless. Most people would search for photos.

Mine isn't as horrible as I thought it was going to be in July, but overall, it's still down since January.

I'd like to submit my graph but highlighting and  copying does not work. How it is done ?
