Hi,
If you design a shape in SS earning Schedule based on 6 levels and a different % scheme i think you will find the pyramid shape. But Definitely it will not be the traditional "pyramid scheme" scam but rather something that was thought since Pitgoras and applied by SS to earn more.

It is a simple shape of bad business for you.
Nothing really illegal. But you have a choice of not doing business with them.

For instance my business shape/scheme with SS was like this: 50/60% for me or SS will not have my content.
SS could not match my demands. So i left SS. that was my choice.
This was 10 years ago.
I am still here. still selling with my business shape philosophy and living on stock sales.

Hope you can do the same in future.
Just go to other websites. leave ss.
all the best

If we consider the Shutterstock Report First Quarter 2020 Earnings Results with statements like:

"We are well positioned financially with $296 million in cash and no debt. Our strong liquidity position combined with the progress we are making against our margin enhancement initiatives make us well positioned to meet our financial objectives when demand returns to historical levels," concluded by Jarrod Yahes, Chief Financial Officer.

it's time to ask: "For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?"Mark 8:36

Instead of just having faith act now! Protect your work. leave SS before end of month.

It's time to end Shutterstock.
Simple math will say the obvious: bad business
if you consider the cost to make footage, eventually in some or most of cases, you will be paying "passively" to sell your footage. Moreover the reset button is a killer for anyone that wants to invest in doing stock.
all the best for your sales.

Canva / Re: Canva announcement
« on: April 06, 2020, 15:09 »

In order to make this happen, were going to include all premium content in our Canva subscriptions for use within Canva. At the same time, to make sure you are fairly compensated for your work....

Fairly!? ::)
Premium content in subscriptions? pfff... i hope i can get a Premium camera in a subscriptions model too.

what do you think will happen? more 0,03 for video sales or starting to see sales like 0,001 for you? And you won't remove port right? At some point i rather wash stairs of buildings for 25/30 an hour.

I think Its time for clients to shoot their own footage or hired people for that purpose. They need footage but not hire because is less expensive to buy online. if they cannot find online...what do you think will happen?

i can guarantee that clients and microstock sites will not wash stairs. They hire people to do it.  :-)

Maybe i am wrong.... but if SS sells stollen images dosen't usa government collect taxes from that too? I mean when a sale happens SS gets around 65% but it has to pay taxes from that stolen sale.

So my point is in some way Government is collecting taxes from stolen images. My guess is beside collecting taxes I bet the government would love to receive a major Fine from SS too. Don't you think?

Therefore, instead of even go to SS why not go directly to authorities and explain this? legal authorities can only start investigations if there's a complaint or denunciation of illegal acts. And if not maybe newspappers like the story.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Coronavirus ?

Hi, just some useful info about this virus and stats:

https://medium.com/@tomaspueyo/coronavirus-act-today-or-people-will-die-f4d3d9cd99ca

Although we dont have so manny cases yet in my country (Portugal) we are already starting mitigation phase. Last 24h there was rush in some supermarkets ending with shelves completely empty. There is no need for that since is a panic behaviour and not lack of food but people will start to do it.

Some simple steps like wash hands frequently, avoid close contact and gatherings will help to fight the spread. This is what was told by our DGS (general health directorate).

i am curious... why are you people still in SS If you can't control your onw copyright? for 1,50? Shooting video is much more expensive than a coffee.  ::)

Hi, Thanks for your feedback!
Ok maybe spreading passive income oportunities is better since stock photo/footage is dropping a lot from last year. Doing a channel could balance a little bit. Probably i try some tutorials first or little 1 min docs since I am not much of a review for unbox items person. At first sight it seems to me maybe more suitable.
Again thanks a lot for sharing your thoughts on this.

Hi,
Thank you for sharing this "simulation". In other words SS doesnt care if someone is a thief as long as they get their share of sale. Implement best practices against piracy? it is not mandatory by law and it costs money.

They will only act if these guys are discovered by someone. It's a jungle business where no government actually review or rule company practices. They dont care about contributors. they only care about customers. :-\

Hi people,
my first post here. although i have been in this microstock market for at least a decade, i have never been much of a forum user. Perhaps now, with the need to better understand what is going on, I have tried to at least read what I am finding on the internet.

Thank you very much for the forbes article. It helped me make some decisions. I was never a big fan of SS. Especially since I never liked that others put a price on a clip that nobody knows its cost better than I do.

What I feel is that in recent years sales have been steadily falling. Subscription plans have taken over market networks. All contributors have recorded losses - am I wrong?

What I don't understand is how this company and others, who live off from artists who contribute, have their headquarters in the empire state building and 1200 employees !? - probably with a much higher salary than most of we who spend hours and hours making stock photos/footage.

It is best to do the math ... we are enriching others and not us.
I have a feeling that it is better to upload the works on youtube and offer to others free. At least I will be able to make a audience and earn from advertising what seems to me to be more safer and fairer than selling at a bargain price.

whishing all the best for all of you!
