Sean, iStock is the biggest loser, not just because they will be missing your images as they certainly will, but, as well, by kicking you out without a valid reason they are making very bad publicity for themselve by spreading a cloud of doubt over all members, would-be members, buyers and would-be buyers. Your images and spirit will survive as no one can take that away from you.

Maybe you can ask them if their 'Sales' System is down as well  ???

In the last three months, Panther has started to work a bit better for me. Two 50,95, one 15,25 and several between 0,69 and 4,00 euro sales. And that is only with 493 files. I find their uploading process a little tedious when it works. I don't like having to fill in the most important 8 keywords as it takes a lot of time. But I guess, it could be worthwhile to upload some more.

Thanks Dan! I Just noticed and in the process of uploading a few files through FTP2. Will let this thread know if it works for me as well.

Yes, I am having the same problems too.  Coincidentally and in addition to Pond5, myself and someone else have been reporting similar problems with Panthermedia.

Hi All,

I FTPed 10 files to Panther yesterday (Saturday) and they are not getting imported into my account.  I tried uploading them again and the same problem.  I then tried uploading them via the browser method which can only upload 5 files at a time and those are not showing up either.

Anyone else experiencing any difficulties?

Cricket

Yes, I am experiencing the same problem. I sent an email to support about this.  Weird...a few of us are having similar problems with Pond5 as well.

I pegleg, are you the one that has posted a link of my blog in the Flickr contributor forum, because I did get a lot of traffic from there yesterday but could not get in to check it out because as you say it is a private forum.  Thanks for your side of the story!! Denis Pepin

Hi Denis, no, I'm not the one but I read your blog post and it was very thorough, thanks! What happened was, a separate private group has been set up by another contributor to discuss details related to the Google deal and the link was posted there.

Thank you for your positive comment and sharing your dilemma with us! I will update my blog as well.

According to Lobo we should get another response soon

Are they even trying to stop this? Has anybody officially said something like: "Oops, this whole Google thing has not turned out the way we wanted. Sorry! We'll try to find a way out."

Lobo:

We will have a follow up to this discussion very soon.

Marina, known here as Sunnymars, is very active in promoting this D-Day protest.  She's created a facebook event here:

And a really effective graphic for anyone to place on their blogs, news stories, etc.

What an excellent find!! That graphic certainly gets the point across. I will update my blog with this, followed by a link of course.  Thank you Marina! and Lisa for finding this!

The actions people are taking now are entirely appropriate to the situation.  At this point, Getty doesn't care about 20,000 images, or even a few hundred photographers.  But a big steaming garbage barge of bad publicity  is another matter.   The goal is to do whatever we do as loudly and publicly as possible.

Agree 100%

I agree, interestingly just today, so far, I got over 260 unique users landing on my blog about this deal and I am only a needle in a hay stack. It is a captivating story not just for photographers and artists but the general public as well as most like an underdog story.
I guess big media are reluctant to touch this partly due to their possible affiliation with Getty. Unfortunately for us Getty plays a huge part in today's big media. However, the story is getting traction across the web within many other smaller media outlets which will eventually and probably add up to the same amount of exposure as big media.

I'm revamping my web site (related to possibly leaving iStock February 2nd) and posted a blog with some thoughts on this mess

Excellent blog Jo Ann!! Certainly like your analogy of us the contributors "Cinderella" versus Getty "the ugly sisters", very fitting, thank you. I have included your link on my site as well.

Just got banned as well

``...From my perspective, however, this issue should have gone immediately to a lawyer. Instead it was openly published here and a call to action has now been taking place for something to occur in February...``

My response:

You must be kidding right...your perspective is similar to what a Getty lawyer would probably say.. How can keeping a secret about images being redistributed for free, by such a powerhouse as Google, would make it right for their owners?

Lobo

Thanks, Cybernesco. I get to now show what is going to happen if people don't read what I post. Enjoy your ban.

Feb 2nd projected total is now 44,516+ deactivated or deleted files.

If I don`t see any significant increase in members coming forward to report their willingness to deactivate or delete files, this will be my last projection.  Denis

This was also to strengthen Blends position and relations with the largest distributor of imagery in the world, and that it did. In the end of the day you have to ask yourself " am I happy with what my agency is doing for me and if not is there someone else that could do better ".

I am surprised that such an intelligent person as you Jonathan could write such a nonsense post......
