If you have 3-4000 images and take away all the ones you have with the big 6. How many is left? Im kinda new with this. but why would anyone pay more at Yay than SS. We gotta be more exclusive if we wanna sell at midstock sites. Am I wrong?
Maybe some of belives that there still is buyers that dont want cheap crap:)
With so many millions of images per site I wouldn't worry that your image is priced differently on different sites. It's impossible for people to have a perfect knowledge of this market place. To shop price for a specific image across these sites would be a huge waste of time. If your image is NOT on a given site you won't make that sale, whatever the price.

There would certainly be an increase in the amount of global warming.

Yep. Zero minus attorney fees = out of pocket. The last judgment that proved noncollectable did provide one satisfying result. The two guys (father and son) that stiffed me ended up in jail. No money for me. But justice was served in other ways.

I'm not a lawyer but I play one on microstock.
This photographer will never collect a dime. The corporate defendants are out of business and the other named, personally, will most certainly file bankruptcy given the amount involved if indeed an appeal to the original judgment is not possible. In my prior business life I've held many sizable judgments that turned out to be worth approximately zero, less attorney fees.

Sorry I just got rid of all my old baseball cards. They were only a bunch of duplicates. Some guy named Honus something.

Don't feel too bad. One of my self-model doctor shots was used on a web site pushing steroids without a prescription. They didn't even send me any freebies!!!

Somebody said their marketing starts in September for some reason. So I'm content not to start complaining until November or so. Now that Lucky O is gone and Snap so far is a puzzling bust, I'll need someplace else to bitch about soon.
Just a matter of perspective. Some are giving the Cubs about 100 years.

No way that verdict will stand. I believe the words are "unjust enrichment" or some such thing. I'd say on appeal they'll be lucky to get their attorneys fees and a few thousand for the work.

Also... will the format change?
Think... beta... vcr... dvd... blueray...
Will our JPEGs have any value in 5 years?
My brother bought a 4 Track stereo system many years ago. It was so new that the store only had 1 tape available in the new format. So he bought the tape. A few weeks later the 8 track stereo system hit the market rendering the 4 track format forever obsolete. Last year I sold all my Laser video disks and player for a couple of bucks. The buyer had never heard of laser disks or the laser disk format. I guess we need to expect obsolescence and hope the microsites have a way to upgrade to whatever format is the next jpg.

Anybody here know of a good skin ointment? Those pesky ankle chains are giving me raw skin again.

Still very slow. I guess "beta" version for them meant "pretty fast compared with what we can really do to slow the site down once we get the hang of it."
Haven't uploaded there for about a month. No loss. Slow site. Slow learners.

If we had a micro site tolerance gauge mine would be buried on empty. It all leaked out during the Lucky Oliver dynasty.

I keep checking every 10 minutes but still no sales! I'll give it another few hours.

If you've heard of Pavlov's dog salivating at the sound of a bell because it's been trained to link the sound with food--that's what shooting stock is like to me.
I like to get some recognition for my work and my gallery sales and Microstock payments satisfy that need for me.
Pavlov called the training method with the dogs "intermittent rewards" because he knew that by rewarding the dog with food with every ring of the bell wasn't as effective as ringing the bell only some of the time. So when I get a sale, or not, I can't wait to upload some more.

Hey, the site has been up a day and I haven't got a bunch of sales yet!!!
Relax. I'm just practicing in case this one turns out to be another LO.

I never uploaded there. But I sympathize with anybody who follows their dream. I thought the letter was well done. And he vowed to pay out what was owed. Classy.

I imagine those who choose exclusivity have their reasons.
I just won't have anybody restricting my work in any way. Period.

I spent a few minutes searching and liked what I saw. Looks like a great place for really different shots that I like but most of the other micros rejected, usually citing "composition" or "no clear center of interest", "incorrect white balance", or, my personal favorite, "too blurry for our taste". I'm talking about only the shots that really work in my opinion, with or without the above objections.
I do think I'll go mining my portfolio amongst the more quirky. Now that LO is finally buried I've got some free time.

The low crap value is probably because the invitations went out to active contributors and not too many "outsiders" knew about the site. Once the site is out there for the newbies is when the junk will start to flow in. I think the reject rate will go up appropriately as we go along.
I wish the site well, although I have mixed opinions about their desire not to use "traditional" marketing. I hope it won't be anything like LO's misguided attempts. The biggest fear I have is that this Government of Norway backed site will have the heavy hand of bureaucracy involved, rather than true entrepreneurship. So far they have done everything else right. My favorite type of soap opera. ---------------- Hey, I've seen MUCH worse than that example under "business". There are 12,949 under that heading, and lots I looked at were excellent.

Face it. We're just the suppliers of ammo. The sites themselves will be the casualties. We can always make more ammo and sell to the survivors. We may be a bit poorer for it but we're not out of business.

Reality Check #1
Like in any other endeavor those of us that want more income in the evolving micro world will do the things that will earn it. Shooting better. Shooting more. Uploading to more sites, regardless of the "income per download".
In retail language, more shelf space. In wholesale language, more sales reps and more direct sales. If it gets to be too much work for the reward, hit the want ads. None of us can change the dynamics of microstock.
It is what it is and what it is evolving into. For us contributors it's either row a little harder or dive overboard and swim somewhere else.

Forums are the equivalent of gathering around the coffee station and bitching about the boss. A healthy outlet. The wise boss has a "plant" that feeds back the info.

Something is going on there. They say they'll be off line all weekend for some updates. Does this mean the arrival of the much heralded Beta II? Or is it Beta VI?
