All I am saying is some people simply enjoy collecting images often only to add them to digital collections. They have no interest in prints. I think in many cases they have no intended purpose when they buy them, they may simply like the colors, design or geometry.
Quite frankly I think that any attempt to base any sort of business model on this line of thinking for a photographer or stock agency is pure suicide! There is just far to much free content on the web now and has been for years and will continue to be! I know that I can fall into the description "only to add them to digital collections" as I use some images from National Geographic and NASA as screen savers just because they are great images, why would I even consider purchasing? ? With the increasing use of sites such as flicker were the masses can take what they want for "free" your logic is beyond fuzzy just downright moldy.

First let me say please someone correct me if I'm wrong! This thread has been inspired by a few of the other threads lately about trends and the economy of microstock. Do you think that there has been an increase in the number of "solicitations" in the forums lately or is it just me? Are these just the normal ebb and flow or has the economic downturn been the underlying cause?

Sort of a related question along the lines of the OP. Are you able to sell images that you have purchased say through an estate auction? I have seen some beautiful medium format negatives go up for sale at estate auctions and have often wondered if they did scan well enough would I be able to sell them (landscapes only of course) or would I only have them for personal use?

It's to bad that they havent made a digital back that would work on the older models of the 645. From the links it looks like these backs wont fit the old film bodies and that the new body wont take the old film backs

Found this one just the other day in the ad bar on facebook! Looks like they have more nature images than anything else, no contributors, no sales, no views, but 70% commission! Looks like they are trying to boost their data base by suckering in newbies from facebook with their p&s cameras. HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA http://www.imagestocker.net/

What about using solid state for those with smaller ports? I know that flash drives and cards have a limited number of writes / rewrites but as far as long term storage life are they any good? Should also be easy to store them in a fire proof box.

Does your hard drive ( the non working one) have the jumper pins on the backside of it? If so have you changed them from being set for the primary drive to being a slave drive? I had to do that years ago when I moved my drives to a new box.

I'm considering buying a film scanner to start to achieve all my old 35mm film, a couple of hundred rolls of my own and who knows how many from parents and in-laws. I am wondering what others have used to do something similar? I'm not looking to spend a fortune on one like a Nikon 9000 or a drum roller but at the same time there seems to be all kinds of cheap low end dedicated scanners that look like crap. Dedicated or flatbed with transparency adapter is what I'm looking at now, any thoughts?? Thanks!

My first was a Pentax MG that my father gave me when I was around 15. Five years later it was a step backwards to Pentax ME Super just because it had more control than the MG. First AF cam was a Pentax MZ-50 (died). Now using my first digital an *ist DS. Saving to buy my first NEW cam a K20 although I wonder if it will stand up as well as my MG and ME more than 30 years old and still as reliable as ever!

I love the new look but I have a question. I'm using IE7 and when I view a thread the post section is no wider than the "view the results" column down the right side making posts a little hard to read other than that looks great!!!
