I joined MostPhotos recently and here are the reasons why I will put my time and effort into them in the long run:

Here is referral link if you find my posting has influenced you to consider checking out the site:
http://mostphotos.com/index.php?mwp1969=3065

#1 I've done my homework  ;)

#2 The Website is slick, silky smooth, loaded with useful features for both buyers and seller ... basically the most powerful and all around useful site that I've seen so far ...

#3 Established Swedish Website that is going global and is starting to attract a strong  a strong following to its existing client base

#4 Sweden is becoming a technology mecca (I've traveled to Gothenburg on business before)

#5 I believe that ultimately "Midstock" companies will prevail over time as the microstocks debate the entire subscription issue

#6 Their pricing imodel is such that it can support paying the photographer a decent commission

#7 Their algorithm's for the MP Index ACTUALLY work really well which drive the best images to the top

#8 The default "Top Rated" photos window showcases the highest MP Index photos for the last 3 days. You can apply different settings for while your browsing or searching, but the settings always go back to 3 days for the first search. This allows new images to be shown to anyone that is searching for the "Top Rated" photos fairly often

#9 The Photo Community concept really works. In my first few days there I have had plenty of feedback on my images that has been entirely useful. Those Swedish photographers that have been on that site from the beginning really know their stuff ! I am starting to see some familiar names that I've seen here on MSG if that's any sign ...

#10 There is member point system that encourages the ranking of your fellow photographers. You also get points for commenting on other's photos. All in all ... the point system is geared towards making MostPhotos an interactive community that works together to QC itself. From what I can tell so far ... this seems to work

#11 "Portfolio Summary" will show you things like you point total, and the distribution that you are receiving from the voting that has been done on your images, and the votes that you have given as well.

#12 "Request Critique" on an image is an incredible feature. New members are allowed to have 1 image listed with a request for critique which lists temporarily lists it in its own high traffic area of the website. As you earn more points helping others ... you can have more images per week listed in this area

#13 There is a "Members Online" feature

#14 There is a "Hall of Fame" page which appears to be those with the highest Point Totals from all of the rating, and feedback that I spoke of earlier which generates points.

#15 Finally ... aside from checking it out for yourself ... it has a pretty nice referral program paying you $1 Euro for every image sold by a referred member or bought by a referred customer

I hope you found this information informative. When you see me logged "online" (denoted by a green dot) on MostPhotos ... please feel free to shoot me message anytime.

General Stock Discussion / Questions about "Rights Managed" RM
« on: January 20, 2008, 16:23 »
All

I have a couple of questions about "Rights Managed" photos.

#1 Does selecting Rights Managed mean that you can no longer sell your photo RF or any other way?

#2 Could someone give me an example of theirs of how they received a fee for Rights Managed and how the images were put to use

#3 What limitations are there when you select RM and someone accepts?

Please forgive my ignorance about RM

Adobe Stock / Problem Uploading to Fotolia
« on: January 19, 2008, 01:01 »
I've tried uploading 3 files 2 files or all 5 with the web uploader and it seems to be hit and miss as to whether they make it to the blue arrow pending state ... Actually I'd have to say after about 7-8 upload attempts between today and yesterday, I only had two that worked.

Has anyone else encounterd this problem?

All,

I'm trying to figure out how to "downsize" or "downsample" my images to 4mp for the purpose of either noise reduction or once I am approved at Shutterstock.

I have Photoshop Elements 6.0. (Full version)

I currently know to go to Image/Resize/Image Size which then brings up the dialog box of choices ... depending on whether "resample" is checked or not I can edit the Pixel Dimensions and the Document Size. The only place I see the mega pixels is in the pixel dimensions so I believe I have to have "resample" checked. Is this correct? If so to what width and height do I set this to to achieve a 4mp image for shutterstock.

Also there is a box where I can enter the Resolution which defaulted to 180 mp

Any help with how to do this in Photoshop Elements 6.0 would be a great help.

I am new to stock photography and would like to see your most marketable or popular image based upon the number of actual downloads.

Here is mine with a reminder that I've only been doing stock for 3 1/2 months.

123RF / Making my first sale at 123rf :) + question
« on: January 14, 2008, 23:24 »
Hi All.

I show that I have .42 under credit earnings for 1 image. I presume this is my first sale at 123rf.com however, I can't seem to find an area of where I can see what images have been downloaded.

Anyway ... its great to have a first sale on 123rf even if I can't find it :)

Dreamstime.com / Approval Frustrations over recent weeks at DT
« on: December 19, 2007, 22:09 »
What can I say ... I need to vent.

I've been very successful getting my new and growing portfolio uploaded to many sites. DT was my second site, and a personal favorite of my due to the very cool forums there :) That being said, my approval rating continued to drop (mostly due to my experimenting with my model photo shoots, isolations, and editing skills) and it has been an outright struggle to get photos approved there anymore.

I've been there over 2 months and have only been able to achieve 17 uploads approved out of 64 unique images that have received approval across all of my sites.

I received my first download from any site on DT :) That was on Thanksgiving day :)

However, I have not had a download there since ...

I continue to look at my shooting, editing skills, and patience (which is getting a bit weary at DT) and continue to hope for improvement ...

Any words of encouragement would be helpful as there is lots of traffic at DT and I really do want to be successful there ...

Albumo.com / I'm new to Albumo and I like what I see :)
« on: December 19, 2007, 20:54 »
Hi there. I am really enjoying Albumo's interface. I especially like their suggested keyword feature.  I hope this site really takes off as they seem to be doing "the little things" to the contributors experience.

I'm uploading as fast as I can on this site :)

123RF / Is uploading to 123rf worth the effort?
« on: December 16, 2007, 18:24 »
I was recently approved at 123rf and have started uploading my images there. They're web form interface for uploading is very simple and I like what I've seen so far ...

What is traffic like to 123rf and how does it compare with say DT, FT, and BigStock where I am also currently approved and have portfolios ... being new to all its hard for me to tell. I've had my first sale at DT :)  ... but am still awaiting my first sales at all of my other sites.

Any comment would be greatly appreciated regarding 123rf and its comparisions to those other than SS or IS where I am still awaiting approvals ...

Adobe Stock / Fotolia's "Set your price ..." feature
« on: December 10, 2007, 17:40 »
Does anyone know when you are able to select higher pricing on Fotolia? I am new there (19 approved images) and there doesn't seem to be an option for my photos to be at any other level than the .30 range selection.

General Stock Discussion / Your signature and Portfolio links ...
« on: December 02, 2007, 15:49 »
Can anyone see my "signature" and make it to my various portfolio links?
I click on "preview" and do not see my signature ...

I'm not sure if they're working as I am new to this site ...

Thanks

Mark
