if i have received something in the first wave, i will also get something in the second wave?

Yes and No: Both is possible. I hope for you!

52
Folk,
please publish here, when you got your first upfront sales from the second wave.
Last time no image was selected from mine, so I just want to know, if I still can hope or not.
Oh, yes: Best for me to know, if you goth that sales via Wirestock, which MIGHT take little bit longer (in case of so many and different artists) until Wirestock is ready to inform us?

Is Wirestock definitely included in this then?

Seems like that.
I asked wirestock after the first wave and they checked it for me: No sales to Adobe for me. All others in that similar time were instant pay for me from shutterstock.

Why I am not surprised that this POLL does not generate that much interest?

I am usually reading this forum from phone and poll is not visible in Tapatalk app. So I went to my computer especially to vote, but it possible that most people won't even notice and that's maybe one of reasons why there isn't much interest.

Thank you Lina for your vote and extra work to be able to vote.

First I thought, many do not vote, because they do not want to blame Mat. And that is defenitly not my intention by asking for votes. It is Adobe, who should explain it. And if Mat is allowed to do it here: Great!
Side note: Nobody can see, who votes what. So, no matter about it. Just vote. Thats it.

New Sites - General / Re: Wirestock new Instant Pay Program
« on: August 10, 2021, 12:38 »
How many days takes Wirestock for processing images?. I sent some image, they are on Status "Processing".
Seems to be very different... my experience:
-> editorial with keywords included are reviewed quickly within a day or two
-> commercial images with keywords included are reviewed within some days
-> images using easy submission can take up to some weeks - I ususally send an email to the support then, which works well

Another experience:
-> upload commercial images using easy submission (keywords done by wirestock) seem to be rejected with a lot higher percentage then images where the keywords are submitted too

I have the same experiences. And your another experience is also true!

I just uploaded hundreds of photos via easy submit. Keywording still needs to improve, but got partly much(!) better.
The ones I thought needs to modify, I sent them a list with the corrections/adds of keywords. They are now working on it. Well, if you upload your own to several agencies, you can modify yourself afterwards. On wirestock you have to send them an email. BUT: Hey, they do it!

Side experience: Of course they do better keywording, if you write them a kind of title/description in the notice for the reviewer. But even many commercials without any notice for them, got good enough keywords and titles from them.
After this run I got a better idea, where they are now.
So, now I know better, which photos I can just easy submit and which I better still do my own keywording. Even if I do it myself: Dont forget all the other benefits, if you upload via wirestock: more exposer comes clearer and clearer: Seen by much more sales than on the agencies. Higher revenue because of higher level. More ways of sales like instant pay, extra channel and now also via your portfolio on Wirestock. I am still curious about footages, but I know many using this also now with all these benefits.

because my EPD is much better on CanStockPhoto than most other companies  ;)

How comes? Special photos?
However: Congrats!

...until end of September. But I just got the new one and unforutnally the number of the credit card this year didnt change. So FAA might take it again next year, even if I cancel it early enough. Side add: I could not find, WHEN exactly I have to cancel it, if I do not want them to expire next year. Really tricky they are! And if I ask for that on FAA forum and they can read my critique between the lines, they might close directly my thread and who know what else, because they do not accept any critics.

too much paranoia - first, when you card expires no one can charge to it until you give them the new expiration date.  you can cancel at any time prior to renewal and FAA sends a renewal msg.  finally, if someone should charge after you've told them to stop, just contact the cc company & they'll reverse the charge

also, there's no, indication there's retaliation for criticism of FAA - such comments occur regularly

expire date! Thx for remind me! LOL

And yes, just yesterday I got a similar answer from Abbie (FAA) about 4 ways to cancel. I screenshot it for next year, in case I need it.

Well ,after so many negative reports about difficultness of cancelling membership on FAA, I am not paranoia, but just prepared for it in upfront, to have no big problems later on.

Adobe Stock / Re: rejections due to technical issues
« on: August 08, 2021, 12:25 »
There can be only two reasons for it:

1. They us API like SS now.

But I am pretty sure they do not, but instead:

2. They are very selective on the KIND of images are uploaded:
If they have already good sellers from that topic, they reject it. Or if some of their supported artists have similar photos - no matter of the quality! - they then reject new entrees.

Why they do it?
They prefer to have a portfolio, which just has enough diversity in any kind, but do not want oversupply it.
They offer special collections only for Adobe software users or other kind of customer . They do not care about getting new stuff at all anymore.
New? Well, OLD, never sold images they offer for free. Thats it!

Region? Yes, another important new point, but Adobe put it on secret, what it is about.
So, they offer special collections - selected from Adobe - to selected KIND of buyers.
Poor countries and Moslem countries cannot reach the whole portfolio from Adobe, except the clever ones, who knows how to change the region. Why Adobe put this big stone in the way for that regions? No idea! Their secret! I asked many many times about it and many others too, but no reaction from Adobe. SECRET!

If you want to offer new stuff: keyword order is NOT important anymore and most likely not a kind of interest for Adobe.
And if you upload stuff from that discriminated and partly blocked regions: Even if accepted: These special regions, who might buy the most of these kind of photos, will never see them - even if they search for it. And US customers are less interested in that stuff.

So, if you are a good seller on Adobe with your old stuff: Do not delete them! They will maybe more supported now, because all new stuff will be difficult to get accepted or appear in search results for that important regions.

It is a kind of different classes:
first class sellers, first class buyers. All others are not interesting for Adobe anymore.

As usual:

Mat answered promtly in another thread, but does not care about this thread and theme.
It is not a critique personally about Mat, because we do not know, what Adobe told him to do or not to do.  :-[

i found contests to have little worth other than seeing your name listed for a small group of artists - my wins never made any difference to views and no increase in sales

and many group administrators ban asking anyone to vote for your image, so be sure to check the rules (eg this one specifically says to ask for votes)

I got emails from members, who asked me to vote, if I have one left from the 25 votes limit. That shows again, how artists there fighting for votes and even views. More views (even from members) might put them up in ranking.
Look at all the groups and in the discussions: All about getting views, views, views. And of course exposer where you still do not have one.
Also one theme discussion only about this contest, where everyone can put in the links of their contest photos and ask for votes.

I am not really a friend of using a website, which is doing NOTHING for exposer your work like FAA. But FAA has other customers and sells in the USA - different to other POD-sites, which I like much more: Best is photo4me in case of exposer, getting views and even if just new uploads: ranking on top for 90 days! Unfortunally not yet in US and still sales focused on UK themes and these strange aviation war things.

I will try out FAA now and see what is going on. And in a year also I know, what about the plans from photo4me to reach the US market.

Alexander already asked, but I think there was no answer yet:
is it possible to pay the years fee for premium via paypal?
I thought, it is the right time for me, even if paid with credit card, because it expires until end of September. But I just got the new one and unforutnally the number of the credit card this year didnt change. So FAA might take it again next year, even if I cancel it early enough. Side add: I could not find, WHEN exactly I have to cancel it, if I do not want them to expire next year. Really tricky they are! And if they put the effort into direct sales that they did into helping get my work in front of buyers within agencies, then good.

Yes, and they did it for everyone! thousands people has his work in front!... BIG front!!!  ::)  ;)

But if we imagine that this "agency" closes in the future. What would happen with images?

Lol, maybe it will. Maybe SS will or some other agency will, or maybe the industry will collapse entirely. Who the heck knows?

People will do what is best for themselves. This works for me right now. That's better than what I have been doing previously. Results may vary. I can only speak to my experiences and those have been pretty positive after a long decline for the last few years. Just my opinion for what its worth.

Totally agree!
For now and hopefully longer time.
We still have lots of alternatives, if worst case would come - upld again to thyt agencies, which are worse it that time. And that could be change. Who knows, maybe another new agency arrives or what ever.

Pond5 / Re: Pond5 halving prices
« on: August 07, 2021, 00:52 »
I just noticed that the prices for all my videos are lowered...

Edit
After testing with various proxies it appears that Pond5 is setting different prices for different regions

Yes, Pond5 indeed does that! It is included in the contract - I did not know before too, because who read it full, right?
But this happens only with all NON exclusive items (footage, photos, music,...).

I asked pond5 about it a few weeks ago and told them that some artist now doubled the price to get their wanted price. And Pond5 told me, we are free to do it! But we should also have in mind that this double price is shown in that regions, where they do not half the price. BTW: It could be half prices or different to that and depending on the region.
Interesting for me: I could not find any of my (non exclusive photos) for prices like 1$ - I guess because my footages are exclusive. So might be they only select artists who are non exclusive with footage.

64
...
Did you try the premium? with how many photos?
I will try it out soon. But I am also pretty sure, it will be not worth it.

i've had about 1000 images online for last 2 years and gain slightly more than the $30/yr so i'll keep as passive income but not upload many new images

Thank you for sharing your experience.

Alamy.com / Re: Commission lowered to 20%
« on: August 06, 2021, 09:34 »
Who knows!
Maybe start on 24 July and they check if you reached your 250 pounds unti 24 July 2022?
So, if you want them to give you the payout now, it might be calculate as you did not reach it. And if you wait a year - and Alamy can work with that money for a long year! - you MIGHT/hopefully reach the 250 limit and get the usual percentage. If you do not reach it, you get the 25 or maybe 20%?

I had this idea in my mind already when eyeEm started similar things, but in Quarter years. So they can delay the payout and get benefit from that on top!

BUT: Because they calculated 25% and not 20% in your case, I guess it is a totally other sale - maybe not direct sale on Alamy?

Adobe Stock / Adobes new REGION strategy and plans
« on: August 05, 2021, 10:35 »
I think it is clear what the vote is about.
There are two threads or more, where it already got discussed.

67
I did not even know about this region thing until recently. I feel ashamed that all these while, I have been sharing my portfolio with such limited visibility. I think only 5%-10% of my entire portfolio are actually showing up.

I think I need to change my strategy and start promoting other sites now :(

I feel your pain and completely agree with you. And 5%-10 is a good number to be honest, I think it is lesser :(

Especially if you not only upload photos taken in that regions, also if Adobe knows via upload, even backgrounds with no regional background, but uploaded from these countries! You can be lucky, if 1% is visible!

And until now no clear statement from adobe (via Adobe support) or Mat - only rhetorical answers with no mean.
That is why I left Adobe with my personal account and upload via Wirestock again to Adobe. In  that way I still do business with evengelists sects and the devel, but not official with my name anymore. (What would my friends from these regions think about me?! >:(
Best after that move to Wirestock:
Much more sales there on Adobe AND NOW Adobe even do not know, my photos got uploaded from where - only left the photos taken in my country, which is treated bad and discriminated together with many other poor countries or just Moslem countries.

AMERICA FIRST!!!!
 >:( :'( VOMIT VOMIT VOMIT

68
Is this the contest where you have to chase 100 votes just to qualify for the judging round? Looked at that and then deleted the email. Got far better things to do than market a website that hasn't sold any of my content and charges contributors to upload more than 25 images.

100 votes, THEN the final jury.
I guess, most of them just follow to get more views - like me, to find out if it helps in any case. Even I am pretty sure not.

Did you try the premium? with how many photos?
I will try it out soon. But I am also pretty sure, it will be not worth it.

69
Just a backside view:
Soon I will check, if it is worth it to invest the 30$ yearly fee on FAA with my around 300 POD photos i have online elsewhere already.

Luckily I have a credit card, which expire until this September, so FAA will not be able to take the money next year and I can relaxed decide, if I want expire for another year or go back on 25 images. The minimum benefit from this invest will be to find out, which photos would have a chance to get a sale, after analysing the views and hopefully sales. The top 25 will be than kept there and maybe changed regulary with other salable photos.

You can't ask on FAA which is a FAA rule, not just Admins. As for the rest, I'd agree, it's just for fun and I doubt that anything makes any difference to rank or sales.

Just for fun.

Would be interesting how views from other artists and views from real customers count and do not forget about all the bot views. LOL

What I always read and see, artists on FAA searching for VIEWS VIEWS VIEWS! - the only chance to get a higher ranking - beside luckily sales inbetween.
But as mentioned: How these different views count and influences the ranking?

What about views via social medias and for example pinterest, the new way Steve Heap tries - until now without any difference, but who knows, if keeping on.

71
Nice answer: One made a big mistake and all have to pay for it except SS who get profit from everything and anything.
But I have no cloue about that damage. nowadays I hope SS had that big damage LOL

72
Oh, yes, I forgot!
Means for all who still want to upload selective photos to SS again via wirestock, should wait that 90 days.

73
To be honest:
I did not YET closed my account on SS only because I did not reach the payout yet and I got different experiences here: Some even got the payout, others not.
But I left SS in two waves:
1. 90% I deleted short after June 2020
2. two month ago I deleted the rest - poor bad quality photos! But as mentioned: My plan to close my account did not happen for the reason above.

NOW I just found out that one of these very bad photos (just submitted again to SS via wirestock), deleted two month ago, got rejected for similar photos found on personal account.
MEANS: As mentioned above from other contributors: They still selling my photos after deleting them.
I have no idea, if they would not do it, if I at least closed my account (with no ZERO photo on it and still appears the amount I sold in the past as usual).

SS is not only supporting thieves, SS is a thief itself!

NB: Photos I upload/submit to SS via wirestock, which I deleted in the first step, most got accepted and no sign that they still selling them on their own.

Photo Critique / Re: What to do with these photos?
« on: August 03, 2021, 10:09 »
And my most important question is:

Lets say, I did new shots with much better quality photos and videos:
Which agency is the best to sell that kind of stuff?
Where are these game producer searching for their photos/videos?

Photo Critique / Re: What to do with these photos?
« on: August 03, 2021, 10:07 »
If you want to sell these as game backgrounds, you need to make them seamless.

This and a few more ideas coming up in my mind.
BUT: Before that I would like to travel to that place again or similar places and take better shots. and maybe also videos.
