4 more Superyears!

The thread is about Trump getting rona. And then infecting everyone around him. But go ahead and ignore that, and deflect to a superman shirt. As if thats funny.  ::)

With hindsight it's easy to say she should have retired but there very well could have been another Democrat in after Obama.

Actually, history doesn't support that argument. Neither one of America's main political parties tends to hold the presidency for more than two terms in a row.

There are exceptions, of course (Reagan's 2 terms + GHW Bush's 1 term), but generally you'll find a long-established pattern of two terms/eight years of one party followed by two terms/eight years of the other.

I have a strong hunch that Justice Ginsburg knew that.

Yet HRC won by almost 3 million votes. The country wanted another Democratic POTUS. Hanging chads, the supreme court and the electoral college have handed the presidency to losers. The Democratic party needs to grow a freaking backbone and fight like h*ll against the gross unfairness that leads to these outcomes. At this point only 29% of registered voters are Republican. Dont blame Ginsburg for the nefarious machinations of the Republican party. Point the blame for this farce of a presidency and a stacked supreme court where it belongs.

Dead right you are!..problem is the Democratic party and its the same with Labour in England. They are lost for leaders! Just look at them now with a "demented" Biden who is just a compromise to a real leader and its the same with this weird guy  Keir Starmer in England. Losers.

Why are you calling him demented? You sound like Trump, calling everyone names. Sleepy Joe 😡 He has overcome a lifelong stutter, so he speaks carefully. That doesnt make him demented. Hes a helluva lot more presidential than Trump.

The aforementioned, Trump, is the president, because that is how the people have decided.

You can say that a billion times, but it still doesnt make it true. The people, the popular vote, elected HRC. The electoral college and its aforementioned-in-great-length flaws, elected Trump.

The Democrat party of today is slowly reverting back to the Democrat party of the early 1900s. They are encouraging mob rule. They are trying to silence people with revenge culture. They are trying to take free speech away from people. They are trying to promote segregation in the name of social justice. Many are not going to like what I've said, but that's just the truth.

LOL Your truth, maybe. To me, that sounds a lot like Trump and the Republicans. Just watch Trumps ads. Just listen to the names Trump et al. love calling people. Just watch Trump rallies and the violence. 🙄

Oh FUN, Can I play :-) Please wear a mask if you feel you need too!!! Please don't wear one if you don't feel you need to. I will love and support your free choice either way. Will I wear one, if they ask yes if they don't care no I am pretty easy to get along with. Now what are we missing from my medical training ohh you mean washing your hands is more important?? AHHH YES but go ahead and don't wash your hands grab your mask wear it to a bunch of stores keep touching it and then go out for dinner. Just remember your mask kept you safe. Or better yet wear it on your chin or below your nose and feel safe. All is good.

Thank you for being reasonable and leaving the politics out of this.

Everyone play safe, wear your masks, wash your hands, and think of the other people, who might be more seriously effected health-wise if someone selfish is inconsiderate and doesn't care if they transmit or cause a big outbreak. One of the local deniers got the virus and he had no symptoms, he works food delivery. Imagine that, someone going from store to store passing on the virus to destination after destination.

Yes, I do agree, it is free choice, but I advocate that people be responsible and think of someone elderly or with a weaker immune system, that catching Covid-19 could kill them. That's beyond oneself and why people should do the right things and be careful, not because there's a mandate, or because they reject the mandate.

Stop already. Should I go on a diet to lose weight for the person standing next to me who is obese? Personal responsibility. If someone is immune system-compromised, they need to stay home. Or wear a mask. Or whatever they need to do to protect themselves. And take responsibility for their own health. It isnt my responsibility to know everyones health issues and change my life to try and protect them. Reminds me of the parents who expect the whole school to give up peanuts or anything with even the smell of peanuts because their child has a peanut allergy.

If someone is scared and worried about catching a virus, THEY should stay in their bubble. The whole world shouldnt have to live in bubbles. Where does it stop? I will demand they stop traffic on the streets whenever I drive, because Im afraid of getting hit by a car. I gain weight when I drink soda, so therefore soda should be banned for everybody. A healthy person being expected to wear a mask because of some maybe danger to someone else is just as ludicrous.

If indeed, the death tolls are correct. I read a report of how cases are counted, and there are games going on. Less than 1% of the people who get it, die. So most dont die. (according to cdc. true? who knows, lying has become a national sport under trump) Every year, tens of thousands die from the seasonal flu. Yet I saw no one in my community making a stink about wearing a mask or distancing pre-rona.

Is This Site Down Right Now:  https://www.isitdownrightnow.com/

You can check for yourself without asking the forum, and get an immediate reply. Instead of hours later, when the site is back up again. Any site, anywhere.

For example here's Adobe, and it says last down a week ago.

https://www.isitdownrightnow.com/contributor.stock.adobe.com.html

Whenever someone reports it, I go check. I have never found it to be down. There must be an issue with a browser, an update or something. Not sure whose end its on. Last week when it was reported, one person said it was on their end, and they fixed it. Mat said they hadnt had any reports. For those having issues, Maybe look through that thread and see if there are any clues.

President Trump is the president of the USA legitimate. He is the one who won the elections. The one the American people wanted to represent them. The election system is not perfect. It will change, for sure.

There are many very good things and some very bad things in the USA. Great country. All in a big way. It does not matter if there is no work and a pandemic, cutting the campaign months so as not to need so many millions in donations was a possible good detail from the politicians. But no matter the virus, or the lack of work, or not being able to pay the rents, nothing matters, except winning the elections. Great country.

No, he isnt the one the American people wanted to represent them. Hillary won the popular (the people) vote.

OK...MSG account closed, Im done. be well.BTW. I don't get 10 cents.  got a raise today from SS.

Im sorry things got a bit hot and that you decided to leave and I can just wish you the best.
He said last week that he was going to leave here very soon.

I only pop in here from time to time so missed this bit of drama.

Can anyone explain the "I don't get 10 cents.  got a raise today from SS." bit?

It sounded to me like he negotiated a deal with SS for more money. I think people who sell alot can do that. Im pretty sure Africa Studios negotiated a better deal with SS, too.

Hell be back. And Ill be pleased. In the years Ive been in the group Ive learned more about b/w photography from Lauren Rinder (in posting asides, not in actively seeking his help) than anywhere else.

I agree. I just hope that physically hes ok. Hes always been kind to me. As for blowups, I totally get that. Ive seen lots of people over the years do the same. Sometimes people here just try your patience.

Their practice are almost scam-like.

Setting forth terms and allowing you to accept or refuse isnt a scam. A scam would be if you didnt have a chance to read and refuse beforehand. Have you checked the contributor agreement to see what it says? If nothing is in there, then you might be able to call it a scam and see if you can get the money.

Check the contributor terms you agreed to before uploading, it might say that in there. When you agree to something, you should probably not expect human considerations. Most of these microstock agencies are sticklers that way. Some are just greedy. Look at Shutterstock, for example.

I always reported them as royalties, too, because thats where the numbers were entered on the 1099s.

When someone buys a license to use your image, they can use it however they like, as long as it falls within the license terms. So no, you cant forbid anything, unless they are violating the terms of the license. But you might check to see if your FB account has been hacked. Or check that your privacy settings are set to only allow friends to see your friends. If you arent friends with the person using the picture, they shouldnt be able to see your friends.

Back to the actual topic. I had my computer on, so checked my contributor account. All good Mac Firefox. Im still on OS 10.9.5 Mavericks. On the Stock Coalition FB page, some were thinking that their mac OS/browser was too old to work correctly.

Yet when someone steals Netflix content, their lawyers are right on it. Corporate b*llshit at its finest.

Yeah, they made a big stink last year about people sharing their login with other family members or friends.

And yet...Netflix has also seen significant gains to its net income and revenue in recent years. For the fiscal year 2019, annual net income was $1.9 billion, up 54.1% year-over-year (). https://www.investopedia.com/insights/how-netflix-makes-money/

In 2018 Netflix brought in a total of $16 billion in annual revenue, up 35% year over year. The online streaming platform also grew its net income to $1.2 billion last year, double what it was in 2017. https://www.fool.com/investing/2019/03/14/how-does-netflix-make-money.aspx

Also be aware that FAA's main (not 'only') market is the US*, so you should prioritise providing material for them. The base prices (even without artist commission) seem very expensive to me (in the UK) but I've heard a few people say that the prices are fairly standard in the US market.

Be careful about believing too much of what they say, both officially and on their forum. Things aren't necessarily what they seem there.
That said, I've heard that the quality of purchased products is good, and I get a few sales there, so I just keep going.

*This is a "random selection" of recent print sales, so you can get an idea of what sells: https://fineartamerica.com/recentprintsales.html

I was looking through the recently solds...its kind of incredible what people will pay good money for and hang on their walls! 😀

I had some things there a long time ago. Never sold anything, but I mostly shot for print and web, not much nature, etc. Did they always charge the annual fee? If not, thats probably why I left, when they instituted it. I just didnt think I could even recoup the fee.

Shutterstock.com / Re: So they do use AI to review then...
« on: September 19, 2020, 12:33 »
If they pay 0.05 for each picture to the reviewer, then there are no humans involved when the program runs. Seems to be automatic.

Ask Laurin Rinder he worked 3 years for Bigstock researching his best selling book.

@LaurinRinder was a reviewer? Why doesn't he answer what they got paid on Bigstock? After they sold to SS the contract is done, not secret.

Why would he answer? Every time he posts here, people call him names.

Give Martha a smarta$$ apology too. She corrected you first. LOL. 🙄

Martha politely corrected me. You insulted me, checked my account, called me a troll and personally attacked me. That's why so many people here don't like you but they all like Martha. You're a passive aggressive forum bully.

Waaahhh! People like Martha but not me! Waaaahhhh!  :'(

Negative comments because if everyone had sacrificed a few weeks of income SS would have been forced to roll back their draconian royalty cuts and we'd ALL be back to higher royalties.

but that was NEVER going to happen - boycotts never get that sort of cooperation and a boycott with a publicly stated end date tells the boycotted they can ride it out. In addition, the vast majority of contributors likely never even knew there was a boycott.

that still doesnt excuse the negative comments and ad hominem attacks on those who think differently

Quote
Instead, the vast majority stayed, accepting a big loss this year and an even bigger loss come January, rather than a temporary, much smaller loss for a few weeks in June. We own the content. The agencies are nothing without us. But whatevs.

and again, you're mis-stating the case by presenting it as either /or rather than a large loss for everyone AND a slightly larger loss for boycotters

Well, today's a sad day for me. I just read in the Stock Coalition Facebook group that your work is featured in the Coalition Collection on Pond5. You argue against boycotting and haven't had much nice to say about the Coalition, but you stepped right up to take advantage of the deal they got with Pond5.

So now someone who thinks boycotting Shutterstock is useless reaps the reward of the hard work done by others who sacrificed their income and worked their butts off to try to make a difference.

From now out I'm looking out for number one and nobody else. Because what's the point if my work benefits someone like you? I gave up thousands of dollars in income so YOUR work could be featured while you continue making money on Shutterstock? Ehf that.

Yep. Dont blame you.
