Pond5 / Re: Pond5 New Agreement
« on: March 17, 2022, 05:11 »
Are photos included in the partner program as well?
In case, it can't actually get any worse (i.e. no sales at all).

GPP only applies to videos.
https://blog.pond5.com/14237-pond5-launches-global-partner-program-with-adobe-stock-integration/
LLP probably applies to all media, I'm not sure.

Artists will no longer have the option to opt out of these programs as they did previously.

This is the crucial change. We can no longer enable or disable LPP and GPP.
I don't like that at all. A very bad development, in my opinion.
I had LPP disabled until now, the revenue is very low, about $1.80 for a video sale.

Adobe Stock / Re: Announcing Adobe Stock video subscriptions
« on: March 16, 2022, 06:44 »
Either you are new, or the first videographer to ever make more money from subs than regular royalties.
I also have significantly more revenue via subscription models than regular sales with my videos. At one agency, I earned 6 times more from subscription sales than from regular sales this month.

By the way, today 2,80 for a video sale at AS.

General Stock Discussion / Re: This month's sales
« on: March 01, 2022, 11:55 »
SS Jan 2022 Photos : RPD 0,41 $
SS Feb 2022 Photos : RPD 0,20 $

SS Jan 2022 Videos : RPD 6,54 $
SS Feb 2022 Videos : RPD 6,86 $

Over 60 picture DL's at SS in february and only 12 picture DL's at AS.
Over 20 video DL's at SS in february and only 1 video DL at AS.

AS has been selling very little of my media since the beginning of the year.
It seems like there is an unofficial reset there similar to SS where the reset is official.

Shutterstock.com / Re: 0.25$ footage sales
« on: January 22, 2022, 09:20 »
I have not had a video clip sale with $0.25 yet.
The lowest sale brought about $0.90.
And the highest sale brought $82.50

I have only had videos on AS and SS and on P5 since August 2021.
In comparison, SS is 1st with $$ and downloads, AS has 2nd place just behind and P5 has 3rd place.
For me, there is no reason to worry about low sales on SS yet.Still, I'm a bit depressed at the moment because of the slow start at SS this year.

The chart shows all video sales in the last year. I also have another older P5 Exclusiv account, but its sales are of course not included in the chart.

Great.
Looks very useful.

Is there an option in the statistics to see the $$ and downloads of videos and images separately?

I know i went back to level 1 January but allthough the number of sales not much different than last years January, im getting way too many 1 dollar 2 dollar 3 dollar sales since January 1
Did something changed about sales policy of SS
Any similar situation out there?
I also mainly create videos.
I didn't have any videos on SS in January 2021, not until August. That's why I can't compare.
But I see a gigantic difference compared to December last year.
Now in January my portfolio was in weekend mode for the first 9 days. Only then there were a bit more downloads, but much less than in December. Mostly for a few dollars between $1,- and $4,-, but also one for over $10,- and one for over $20,-.
RPD for my video sales last month (december) is $10.06

My AS portfolio was also in weekend mode for the first 9 days of January, but then it took off very well right away. Fewer downloads than SS but already 3x as many earnings so far.

Pond5 / Re: Pond5 deals and more deals and less sales
« on: January 09, 2022, 02:55 »
Actually it's always been less sales on SS vs P5,

Went from $3500/month on P5 alone (editorial) to about $400/month as of April 1 2019 when lightning struck and people all of a sudden stopped buying .

In another forum topic you wrote that before 2019 you had up to $160.000,- income from stockfootage per year.

https://www.microstockgroup.com/shutterstock-com/i-reached-level-2-today!-how-is-your-progress/25/

Great point although before April 1 2019 happened I was making $140k to $160k/year when you added up my P5, SS, and videoblocks revenue, and I've read that others did much better in stock before the agencies cut pay and started doing direct deals with distributors and buyers leaving us with a few one-off sales.

Your stories do not match.
You are the only contributor so far who went from $160.000,- to $0,-, I haven't read a similar story yet.
Even if you went from only $3.500,-/month to $0,-, that is also very unbelievable.

112
My downloads at SS have declined alarmingly.
None of my best sellers have been sold yet.
My portfolie has been in weekend mode for 7 days.
Also at AS things are unexpectedly very bad.
Nothing is going on at P5 so far, but that's nothing new. I've always had very few DL there.

Its about the talent not uploading, sure your going to get the odd person who will continue too, but overall the bigger picture is, the majority of creative people are not going to be uploading and this will in time have an impact, I predict (and it is the Season for predicting) that five years from now Shutterstock will be a mere shadow of what it was five years ago.
When I started in 2019, SS was number 1 for the majority of contributors in terms of revenue and downloads.
And that is still the case today. Still the majority of contributors write that SS is the 'best horse in the race'. Also with me.
SS are the best sellers. There is no downward trend to be seen.
Anyone who wants to make money must logically be with the number 1 agency.

Pond5 / Re: Pond5 deals and more deals and less sales

and in searching around to find out what's going on at PA media/Alamy I found this, so you're Pond5 content is being given away on Alarm, I'm sure you get a little "incremental income" for it somehow, don't ask because I don't know.

https://www.alamy.com/blog/you-can-now-access-premium-video-through-alamy
P5 does not give anything away. P5 has a deal with Alamy.
And I think this is similar to the deal P5 has with Adobe : GPP, Global Partner Program.
That means Adobe customers can buy media from P5 on Adobe's website. These sales are named in the P5 account with GPP license. We get the payout every third month.

Went from $3500/month on P5 alone (editorial) to about $400/month as of April 1 2019 when lightning struck and people all of a sudden stopped buying .
If you were making $3500 a month at P5, you should be making at least as much or more at SS. Why are you whining about your bankruptcy?
And what about all the other agencies? Are they not selling your media anymore either?
You uploaded your media to several agencies, didn't you? Haven't you?

115
... because this is really great and exciting news, your content will be pooled together with many other contributors in this program and we think there will be many as this is an exciting new way to earn incremental income and you will receive this incremental income based on the percentage of the average of all the contributors commissions from clips that sold in this group so if the average sale was for $15 you will get a percentage of that which is divided by the number of contributors in the pool.
It sounds like that when you talk about P5 and their membership program.

So I said, so I am going from 50% commission to a fraction of a penny per unknown sales volume divided up among everyone?, he said yes but this is great news because you are going to be earning incremental revenue.
If it is P5, then the revenue from that pool is not a fraction of a penny. The RPD for my videos is about $12.00 (non-exclusive) and about $17.00 (exclusive).
And I have many more sales from this pool than regular sales.
Without the revenue from this pool, I probably wouldn't be supplying P5 anymore. The regular purchases are far too few.

116
I think the main stock sites need to explain to stingy buyers the advantages of paying for content instead of going to the freebies.

I don't think that's necessary.
First, buyers know that free images are not necessarily safe images. They are afraid of penalties.
And secondly, and this concerns professional image buyers, it is embarrassing and shows a lack of success when the website is decorated with free images that have already been used thousands of times on other websites.

Don't be so negative.
Instead of a new camera lens, some of you could give yourselves a positive thinking seminar. ;D

Shutterstock.com / Re: New Look on SS pages?
« on: December 20, 2021, 11:55 »
Isn't less information sometimes better tho?, if it's all about content content content these days maybe info like fps etc could throw off some customers?.  also, maybe they are copying the free sites, after all the free sites have some way of staying in business with no revenue.......hmmm.
Did you forget the sarcasm smilie?
I think so.

If I were a buyer, I would not buy where there is not enough info.
Dreamstime doesn't have fps info on footage either. I would never buy footage there. When I had a look at the website and some videos, my first impression was : totally unprofessional.

Perhaps the new SS designer is an 'undercover' brought in from a competing business.  8)
But I hope everything will be fine.

« on: December 20, 2021, 06:31 »
The new look looks unprofessional. From my point of view.

Some media info for footage is missing, like the fps info. Has it been deleted or just hidden?
And the title is half hidden. You have to scroll down a bit first and then unfold the text if you want to read the full title.
Instead, the buyer is offered other videos, right next to the object of desire, which are not relevant at all.

I mean, the new look is almost as bad as the look on some free content sites.

« on: December 20, 2021, 06:19 »
how hard is it to subtract 1 number from the total?
;D
Quite simple, if you have to subtract only ONE video a month.

120
Shutterstock.com / Re: does SS do not like anymore new photos???
« on: December 19, 2021, 02:49 »
both, but 99% images.
there's a breakdown in the 'earnings summary' for 'cart sales'
Then you take the image sales and subtract the video sales out yourself, manually?
I was hoping to get a listing in SS's system that shows image and video downloads separately. So that I can see the RPD.

121
Congratulations Dumc!
I had received in October 90,-$ for a picture.
That was also a joyful surprise.

my SS port this year has had RPD of $.60-.80 each month ...
You create images and videos?
In SS account there is no way to see the downloads and income of pictures and videos separately? Or is there?
I have not found anything in my account.

I am very happy with my sales on Adobe Stock.
This month is the best of all.
Likewise with Shutterstock, I'm having my best month ever there too.
I'm uploading new media almost every day.
