Ironarrow,
You talk a good talk. But several times people have asked to see your port, or to get a link, or something to back up these incredible statements. And you never answer.
Go on, tell me you are afraid someone will "steal" your ideas. Well, I think if you are making the numbers you are making, several that would have considered it have already done it.
This is a professional forum, and we come here to share ideas and to learn and grow.
I'd love to see your little speedometer thing. It would lend a lot of credibility to your statements.
But, without any proof offered, I have nothing to do but take whatever you say as tongue in cheek.
Ha..ha.. that's the same thing I was thinking... wanted to see his port with his claims. C'mon Ironarrow, let's see it
I can't anderstand you guys.... if want to find someone portfolio you can find it "i did" if you cant even find someones portfolio ... it's too soon to have opinion about microstock. hey Ironarrow As you know i agree with you about crestock, but you forgot to mension few more things about them. (i don't have curent problem with them since i have decide not to upload since last december) Just for newer guys... 1. They have hevy bad attitude 2. They make rediculus and mass rejections (the most rejections ever had from all sites) 3. The sales of the site are one of the worst in the industry 4. They pay the lowest comisions of ALL??? i think those are few reason why not to submit images with them.

you have write a lot!! in this post
i read some and in my point of view is something like that...
phase 1
Upload to new sites since they give better prices than the existing sites
(about prices low high etc in that case the cheaper sites should have downloads ONLY but as we can all see the price is not that big issue if it was all that Mid stock and Macro wouldn't exist)
phase 2
Get rid from sites with small fees like crestok - canstock etc
if photographers go from sites with small fees this crap "30 cent a photo will stop" as long as we feed the beast the beast is going to alive a well

Nice images Cyril! I have been on Alamy for a year with about now 68 images. I had 2 sales in the first three month. Since then nothing... Probably you need a couple of thousand images to have regular sales there.
hi freezy your port is small (i see on IS) but beautiful, i believe if you upload more images to Alamy you will get twice USD from IS with out selling off your work -i'm telling you that because i like your work very match it's "different"-

There are two big differences between SS and every other microstock that does subscriptions and per-image sales.
1) SS only does subscriptions, so if you upload a reduced size image (those with 12 - 21MB images sometimes offer only a scaled down version at SS) you don't lose anything. With sites that do both, and don't limit the size or level (DT) that's available via subscription, you lose out on the larger commissions for per image sale when you try to limit what a buyer gets for a subscription
2) SS is the only site that has developed the kind of volume that makes sense of the subs model. Everywhere else it's dribs and drabs - just enough to be irritating but not enough to really add to the bottom line each month.
i agree also but... SS is the inventor and the others try to get something (earnings) from SS on US!!! as one friend of mine said "don't try to make a new circle just try to reproduce the original" this is the spirit among the sites.... it's time to sub out from sites that they don't wearth to have subs last month i sub out from SV (very small amout for my earnings) and had no dls since. SV is a VERY GOOD EXAMPLE better than others who are trapping us in subs with no way out than to leave the site. The stock business was a clever one throuth internet but i think that the guys who runs the sites are not so clever!!!! If they where photogrphers and selling their own work they will find the prices rediculus - i find them also as graphic artist 20 years - example: if i want one image for a client i will search for few hours, i will download the image (low res preview or hires depenting on nthe client) i will do the designs the the defferent images!!!! and finaly beside the cost of design (guess the amunt ) i will ad the cost of images, and guess... i dont care if the cost is 0.20 or 30 USD BECAUSE I WILL GET 100 at least for the image (for searching and etc) conclusion they can see the forest but... they can't see a tree bye opps i forget one example i find one of my images cover page (1/4) in a sunday new paper a month ago and for this i get 0.33!!! do you think that they would have a problem pay ... what ever for this image since it was according to theys main issue???

Do you still have download after you opt out?
no downloads but i prefer no downloads from 5 or 10 dl of 30 cents
94
« on: July 18, 2008, 07:50 »
took me one week
to opt out from subs
900 images one by one... :-(
if the sites want to have sub sales at 30 cents they should have and a lot of downloads first...
like shutterstock
don't you think?

well...
ounce upon a time there where some image library books that they where distributed by image banks,
i suppose many of you have this books also do i, so if you look at the images they were selling you will find them VERY good although if this images were submitted to IS for example i'm sure that they are going to have 20% acceptance, most of them for "over filtered" they might be right about the technical side of a rejection SOMETIMES, but one thing is for sure they have no imagination most of the images in microstock looks fake and all microstock sites follow the leader and his aesthetic about images.
I'm not photographer just shutting and submit images to microstock sites to get some extra money, my basic job for over 20 years is graphic art designer, so i think they should judge images also from the artistic side, and not only "photoshop expert" or "photographer expert" because the designer is creating a concept and gives the order for a certain image production to photographer or photoshoper and not the opposite.
