I have some doubts regarding how payment is done and commissions are taken by photoshelter. I opened my basic account there few months ago. and i got some  sales last month and paid all money immediately through paypal. Then last night i noticed that some money from my credit card were paid to photoshelter. I enquired to my bank and they said that these money were paid to photoshelter for your purchase but i had not bought anything from PS so i mailed photoshelter and they said these are the commission cuts for the sales you got last month.. its bit strange for me as i normally have to enter my CVV number and other security options for making any payment from my credit cards. More over i was paid from photoshelter through my paypal but commissions were taken from credit card after a month. These were my 1st sales from photoshelter so i have no experience with them. Can anybody please tell me if this is normal for photoshelter payment ? Do they (PS) save our credit card essentials ? The other stock sites and POD sites generally take their commission 1st and then pay remaining amount...

I'm with Photoshelter and yes it's normal. Like most other automated billing systems they automatically take monthly payments and commission fees from my credit card. Sales payments come immediately through Paypal.

WOW, thats ridiculous. So you pay interest over the commissions they take. This business keeps amazing me.

I'm guessing it's this. PS pays the full amount of the sale to you and then they send a monthly invoice to charge you for their commission cut. Most agencies do it the other way around where they get the full sale amount and give you your commission.

You get paid in full on PayPal and then the commissions are deducted from your credit card. You pay interest over the charges on your credit card, no?

No, I haven't seen this. It's actually the other way around. You get the full sale amount at the time of the sale and then once a month PS sends an invoice for you to pay their cut of the commission. So you have the full amount for the whole month and could be earning interest on it.

Doesn't Paypal charge a fee for taking a payment anyway?

They do, but it depends on how you get paid. Mass payments, like you get from SS, are charged at the sender of the money. If PS pays you in a single payment, only to you, then you pay the fee.

oh ok. Thanks pauli. My credit card statement came as purchase from PS and i thought when did i make a purchase from PS..! Yet i would see PS to take their commission before giving my money for a sale. But i am happy from PS SEO functions and auto synchronization google SERP.
One more question.. I paid for whole 1 year. So my renewal would be auto or i will be asked for renewal?

I'm pretty sure it's auto-renewal.
