Hello guys, great that the topic ios going further with new propositions like Payhip which looks great. It a great variant for peoples who doesn't wanna dig into the hosting.

As I said, I'm a videoguy. Managing BIG files. That payhip, if they host my file, can be great option, especially that they say, the host the files. But as said, you still give your creations to someone for them to sell it. Security issue there for me.

I would be interested to see how you go with video if you decide to go ahead with Payhip. I have a lot of 4k stop motion footage, so I may try it for that as well (but at the moment they are all on Pond5 Exclusive). So far, Payhip have done well with my eBooks and other digital downloads. No complaints from my buyers with regard to receiving their downloads.  Instant payment as well from Payhip for all my sales there.

As for trust, I guess it's the same with other sites who one uploads to. I have not had any problems with Payhip. But if you're interested, here is their profile on TrustPilot:

It is totally worth it to invest in your own website or through a hosting site.

However, it will take some time.

My website has now reached over 900,000 views, and I have regular sales. but it took me about 14 years.

14 years is a good amount of time. You made a start at a nascent time. Demand is hugely competitive now.
But I am happy for you, can you tell, in these years does your own website gives liberty to quit microstock and focus on your own thing?

No, I didn't quit microstock but am doing the minimum to keep sales coming. The microstock agencies are still generating stable income. I have always been doing my own thing. Now my focus is using my YouTube channel to direct traffic to the sales of my photo prints: https://www.youtube.com/@charlinex5186

Mine never took off. Still have views according to Google analytics. May I see your website ?

My sales did not take off suddenly. But you keep at it, you will see sales keep increasing over time.

I noticed you redirect your YT back to your FAA/Pixels website. That's a good idea.

But unfortunately, I can't. So this is a good alternative for people like me, with only 5% commission going to the marketplace. Especially compared to the fees I used to pay for selling digital products on sites such as Etsy - or my husband pays to eBay - this is a real bargain. Plus the more buyers go to the site, the more you build up their buyer traffic, so it can be a win-win for all.

Good luck! I hope you make lots of excellent sales  :)
Have you considered using WooCommerce (a WordPress plugin)? It's completely free to use unless you need very specific features that require paid extensions. In that case, the only real ongoing costs are your domain and hosting. I personally pay about 8 € per month, and there are even cheaper options available.

The downside of platforms like Payhip is that you don't truly own your shop. If they decide to raise their fees or, in a worst-case scenario, shut down, you'd have to rebuild everything somewhere else. With your own independent shop on a platform like Woocommerce, you stay in full control and can simply switch to a different hosting provider whenever you want.

Yes, that's nice, for people who can get WooCommerce to work. I spent hours and days and never got the shop working and never got the payments to work the way they should. WP makes changes and everything blows up, the apps don't work. That's the history.

For the possible shortcomings of Payhip, there is the benefit that it's easy and simple and can be embedded into my own website. I just started, so of course I'm optimistic. I'll give it a, looks nice now, lets wait and see?  :)

Pete, I just updated my Payhip store so that it looks more like a website, with more promotional info - and not just a shopfront. Here's the link if you want to see how it can look:
