Today I briefly had a banner in my Shutterstock dashboard telling me that there would be some exciting changes ahead. There was also a link I was supposed to click on for more information, but it only lead to the contributor FAQ page and I couldn't spot anything new there. Now it's gone again.
Anyone else seen it? What do you think it will be?  I really hope it's just something as harmless as the redesign of the dashboard page.  :'(

I have not received such a message/banner, Firn. But I will pay attention to it.

Of course there is. They have to show they can still squeeze more out of us for their Q1 Earnings call on the 26th.

Didn't see it. Yet. Guess it means popcorn time. Nearly two years after the previous hit.

Unlimited download plans for customers with revenue sharing for contributors?

The way it was placed in the dashboard (above the "Your Tax Forms for the 2021 tax year are ready." line) made me think more that it was some change on the contributor's site. It doesn't make sense to announce new download plans there, so I am still HOPING that it's just a new submitting design or more stats in our dashboard.

New minimum payment - 5 cents
Other 5 needed for upgrade of AI reviewer, so there can be even more fair contributor opportunities

Yep, it shows up for me too. It says "We are in the process of rebuilding our platform for better performance and ease of use. Exciting improvements are coming soon. Learn more about them here". The link takes you to the support page where I can't find anything new.

Is this feature new? I mean the ability to exclude artists by country? I tried Russia and removed ~20K images of Eiffel Tower

I get the banner too, but no more information to be found on their FAQ page. Now, I can think of a lot of things that Shutterstock can do better, but improving their contributor dashboard is very low on that list. Maybe improvements are mainly to be found on the customer side, like Unamas already found out one: selecting or excluding artists per country. Not sure where the added value is in this feature. As a customer I would not really be interested in where the content that I download comes from, and as a contributor, I would certainly not like the fact that I'm getting punished for foolish behavior of fellow countrymen I don't have any impact on and who's actions or opinions might strongly differ from mine.

Now I see the banner too, Firn. And also with me no information is deposited with the link. It remains to be seen what innovations are to be introduced there.

Exciting, but for whom? The contributors? Or the shareholders?

Trying to log in to SS this morning it tells me that my accout was disabled and i should contact shitterstock support. Which is no possible as I can't log in. I will not bother about that lost account but about the 52$ earned in April.

You don't need to log in to contact them. You can write a mail to [email protected] though you'll need a lot of nerves.

Much like the major update they did, was there anything that contributors requested? Did they ask anyone here what they'd like to see different? I just want them to sell more images and remunerate me fairly. I pay little attention to the front-end system.

I'm more interested in keywords used to find my sold images

they say "Wed love to hear your feedback on the new site as you use it"

For their last "improvement" on the contributor side they added all sorts of stuff contributors didn't really care about and got rid of some things they did with as far as I could tell no response to feedback or support from contributors. All I really care about is being treated reasonably and making a decent return. SS completely failed on both of those.

???
Who are they kidding?
Since when does Shutterstock LOVE to hear feedback from their contributors? They have shut down the forum and let expert contributor take over their support system to make it as difficult as possible for contributors to communicate with them, even when it is about something important, yet alone to give them feedback.

Shutterstock Contributor Platform Gets an Update in 2022

Exciting updates are coming as we improve the contributor experience.

With the launch of 2022, Shutterstock is hard at work improving the contributor experience, starting with the backbone a refresh of the contributor account. We are updating our contributor platform to improve site performance with cleaner navigation; where earnings, portfolio and insights are more easily accessible, so you can keep your creativity productive.

Were excited for this refresh, which will allow us to roll out new features throughout the year.

Phase I

The work will be completed in phases, giving you the opportunity to explore the refreshed navigation with just a few pages at a time. Here is what you can expect starting in March:

Earnings Summary: A centralized view of your earnings with filters to drill down into asset types or products used to license your content.

My Referrals, Account Settings and Public Profile: A redesigned page layout with easier navigation.

Payment History: A cleaner presentation that isolates the key information on a transaction, giving you the ability to dive into the details when you want to.

Tax Center: A new look and feel with the same ability to manage and download your tax forms.

Navigation

Youll notice that the navigation bar on the refreshed pages has moved to the left, which will eventually be present on every page. Until the migration of the entire contributor experience is completed in late spring, the navigation bar will remain at the top on pages that are yet to migrate.

Phase II

Once the above work is complete, well get started on laying the groundwork for Phase II, which will bring exciting changes to the following features:

Uploading and Submission

Overview of Pending and Reviewed content

Catalog Manager

Homepage

As the migration continues, we will update this article with relevant information to keep you informed and help you get acquainted with the new experience on our site. Check back here for more updates soon!

Wed love to hear your feedback on the new site as you use it just use the feedback link in the banner on the redesigned pages.

Hahahaaa. Oh boy. That's the soft warning for whats coming. Here's the translation.

We are in the process of rebuilding our platform for better performance and usage (and this is costing us a ton of money). Exciting improvements are coming soon (mostly for buyers). Learn more about (how we're going to soon tell you that because of these improvements and huge costs that the royalty model will need to be changed so contributors can pay for these improvements while we simultaneously achieve record profits and executives get richer)

There. Fixed it.
