Is anyone getting more and more rejections because of this recently?

Used to have a few rejections over this in the past but now it seems that they're immediately rejecting anything that includes non-English sounding words in the description. For example, photos of mountains and beaches with no text get rejected if I include their names in the description, since they don't sound like familiar English words.

Had this a few times now and FB groups suggest its happening to quite a few.

Fully English titles, even without local place names are getting it (one of mine was along the lines of "a row of palm trees behind a tropical sandy beach" for example).

Resubmission with zero changes, as per usual for SS, resulted in approval.

I suspect an AI has gone made and attempting to autotranslate English into English, fails and rejects.

There are two possible rejections for non-English text, the first is for text within the description and/or keywords, and the second is for text within the actual images.

I can't find the exact wording for the first, but it mentions a list of problems with the description, including spelling, grammar, relevance, as well as foreign text.

The second reads as:

An English translation is required for non-English text that appears in content. For small amounts of text, please provide translations in the title field. Large amounts of text are not allowed in content.

Was your rejection the first or the second?

Getty Images has always been something special, very special.
So i built keyword set at LR only for istock.
Some kind of CV, and use only generic description in english.

Hmm. Textured patterns and geometric shapes.

Wonder if its using bad AI to "recognise" text which it then cant understand.

OK another batch of these.

In more and more convinced there's AI "detecting" text. In this exactly its a bridge (no graffiti, logos etc) looking towards a city (no TMs).

Its flagged for translation. Looking at the image one of the pillars had water damage and paint flaking that could be confused for text on a cursory glance without looking in more closely.
Another image, identically framed but with that leg in shadow passed.

More idiocy though. Editorial photos of busy billboards and signs at a shopping street in downtown Tokyo. Rejected for translation required. Am i really expected to translate 40 billboards and roadsigns on editorial now?
Also editorial photos of crowds at a busy temple. Again translation required presumably because the massive lantern at the end has symbols on it. (which is the temples name).

If they are going to push this it rapidly becomes unworkable for editorial in particular as you cant edit it. And im more convinced theres AI scanning for "text".

Oddly some near identical images of the temple with the same framing got through.

yes, i just resub those & they're usually maccepted

and it's silly in the firstp.lace to think temples are broadcasting some sort of offensive message

OK and the latest insanity, got it for editorial of a temple (Japanese text).

The rejection is:

OK. So in my title field, just as requested i have "The text in the image translates to the name of the temple (<temple name>)".

Submitted and yup, rejected for "Translation Required".

Clearly there's no person in the loop to actually READ anything.
