Title: [Shutterstock] Lifetime Earnings, what does it mean
Post by: Beppe Grillo on August 15, 2013, 04:37
http://submit.shutterstock.com/earnings_schedule.mhtml (http://submit.shutterstock.com/earnings_schedule.mhtml)

It is not clear, and I am not sure about what they mean exactly.

"Lifetime  Earnings" is related to:
- the whole gains (for all the photos) on the site
- the gains for a single image
?

I thought the word ALL means ALL, apparently the word ALL still confuses people.

"Lifetime Earnings" is related to...

I'm sorry, but how is this not clear? I don't think they could make it any clearer.

Putting aside your limited facility with English, do you really think Shutterstock expects someone to make $10,000 or more from a single image?  Hundreds perhaps, maybe even a thousand for a particularly successful image.  But $10,000?  Simple reasoning should tell you that's as empty a promise as RC levels at iStock.

To be even more obvious, we have seen plenty of comments from submitters who now earn $.38 for every subscription download.  (I'm one of them.)  Not every download of an image that has made $10,000, of which I have none; every single download of any image.  Knowing that, the other entries on the same row of the table must also relate to your overall earnings tier.  Simple, isn't it?

Wow. That's extremely childish.

Look, Shutterstock is an international company, with international contributors and customers. I think they do the best they can to make things as universally understood as possible. I'm not sure there is any clearer way to say exactly what was intended here, that those are your earnings for the lifetime of your account. Lifetime Earnings. Simple.

The OP asked a simple question that's it.  English is probably not their first language (if I'm wrong please correct me).

Ever wonder how these simple questions turn into a lovely string in the end? Maybe this one will go several pages as well...
