In one word - prostitution!
First 6 months of 2022
I sold 662 image - for 354 US Dollars!
How did they go so down! Why do we still contribute???

Down from where? What were your earnings before?
Need context: Some would consider your sales a good result. Great even.

Averaging $420 per month in 2022 (Jan to June)
2021 $367 per month
2020 $361 per month
2019 $670 per month
2018 $624 per month
The cuts in rates from shitterstock and alamy really wrecked things :(

So you are a Masochist? Then you would like the SS pay as they take the money and give us some spare pocket change in return.
I really could make more dumpster diving or going for recycling cash. As it is, I make more on some very random and occasional eBay sales of vintage items from auctions. The old "buy and sell" business with a big win now and then. Many times I end up with unsold paper items, that I might try again in the Winter.
Real simple, if I can't make $5 profit, after cost, listing and shipping, I throw it away, or store or give it to someone else.
$5 is at worst 50 downloads on SS. Why not just work for myself in antiques and collectibles?
The one way Microstock is a winner is residual sales, over the years, for some images. Buy and Sell, once it's gone, it's gone. One time deal.

My sales are getting lower each month.
4000+ on average per month during 2020 and 2021
but now in 2022:
JAN 4200
FEB 4417
MAR 4133
PRA 3481
MAY 3723
JUN 3587
JULY 3211
AUG 3017
It's going down and really fast for me.
I also have noticed that new images don't sell like old ones. I have almost no sales for images I uploaded after March 31, 2021. Most of my sales are images uploaded prior to that date.

I wonder how low can it go (below 10 cents) until everybody understands they pay too little.
So folks, tell me your number. What's too little? 9 cents? 8 cents? 7 cents? 6 cents? Not too low yet? 5 cents? 4 cents? 3 cents? 2 cents? 1 cent???

These are nevertheless impressive figures!
I haven't even come close to having that many downloads - not even in the better times. It was just under four figures for me - I'm a long way from that.
May I ask how big your portfolio is?

Yes, but someone might have an opinion that the reason is competition, as in millions of new images also new at the same time, vs less competition for images before your example date March 2021? The competition is growing exponentially, making it more difficult to look at sales for the number of our own images.
I upload 100, they upload 100,000. Years ago, I uploaded 100, they uploaded 10,000. As an example.
I know that in 2010 it was much easier to upload a new image and have it get some sales. The same images, for many of mine, now get no sales. So yes they sold better and faster before, but are dead now.
Your really nice successful numbers also show that images that sold better before, assuming you are adding new images, are not selling like they did before? And new images aren't selling like new images did before.

If its of any benefit I made more money tidying neighbors gardens for cash than I made on stock photography.
I made more money on a flea market in 4 hours than I made in 6 months with some stock agencies
I'm signing up for an accounting course to retrain and get away from this pathetic treadmill
