Title: .60 cent footage??
Post by: trjiii1 on August 23, 2019, 15:00
Today I see shutterstock has sold one of my video's for .60 to me. I just removed my portfolio from istock for simillar footage numbers. Is anyone else seeing footage sales for this low? I'm hoping its a one off because shutterstock has been pretty ok in my book and I would hate to see them go off in the istock/getty direction. Hoping this isnt going to be the new norm.

Yes !!!
I had two 60 centers this week. Clip packs I guess. Today I had an old SD clip sell for $180. Is that mean it went to clip pack too? thought the max a SD clip could sell for is $65 or something ?

Yeah, but Shutterstock also gives you 150,200,300$ commission per download just as often as the 1.5 sales.

No one in the industry gives you 300$ per download.

Just curious: what kind of clip does it take to earn $150, $200, or $300 per download at SS?

Is it 4K? 8K? or something else???

I assume it’s 4K
I wish I could tell you that I’m God’s gift to cinematography, but I’m far from it, so I assume it’s just a matter of a client needing this specific clip for a large commercial use (by the commission size).

Thanks for your response.

Again, just for clarity… are you the one who earned such sums for clips? Or have you heard of someone else earning such sums?

I find the inconsistency of income from similar kinds of assets to be really mind boggling.  :o

I’m definitely the one that got them and hopefully keep getting them and wish the same if not more to you.
And yes, I also get 1.5$ per sales but I’m good with them.

I always mention that I’m a Huge fan of Shutterstock.

The $150, $200 or $300 would have to be extended licenses. The higher amounts are more likely to be 4K, but a 4K clip alone wouldn't bring in an amount that high.

I'm a big Shutterstock fan too. :)

And I'm happy for your success with video there. I've just uploaded to SS 600+ videos, which literally have just gone live. So I hope to see some of those nice sales too. :)
