This morning called me a friend working for a company (news online), Shutterstock customer.

Two days ago they renewed their Shutterstock subscription.
All seems okay except that when they want to download some image they get an error message.

They have contacted the support, as asked, but they still have not got any answer

How can we sell our images if the customers are not able to buy?

Still no answer from the Shutterstock support.
Then the emails sent to [email protected] have returned with an error message Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently
They have tried from different email addresses, with the same result.
At last they asked me to contact myself Shutterstock, in their name, because it seems that they have no way to contact Shutterstock.
But I am a little reticent to do that. I don't want to much to meddle in the affairs of others.

Of course Shutterstock has been paid and has already got the money!!

He cannot download any image, no one. (Not even yours ;) )

Edit: but in a way my topic title is not right, it should have been "Unable to download Images"
(Mea culpa)

They have told about it

Well, I have some news.

As in Ukraine, (where is the company where my friend is working), there is no Shutterstock phone support, and as the emails sent to SS returned with an error, the best for them was to find the way to contact the Shutterstock support in Russia.
The problem is that the phone number for the support in Russia is a green number (800) accepting calls only from Russia, so it is not possible to reach it from Ukraine.
So my friend had the idea to send an email to a Russian friend living in Moscow asking him to contact the Shutterstock russian green number. What he did.

<sarcasm> Simpler than this </sarcasm>
 :D :D :D

At last my friend has finally been contacted by email by Shutterstock, promising that they will investigate the problem. (Hallelujah!)
Then nothing problem still not solved, still waiting.

The ineffectiveness of Shutterstock is really exemplary in this story

I'm curious if this case is unique and random, or if such things happen every day with the Shutterstock customers.
It could explain the lack of sales lamented by some contributors here.

How can a company that boasts of being at the cutting edge of technology have such problems?

Their cutting edge technology is to help them make more money. It has nothing to do with helping the contributors.

well maybe so...but not necessarily.
the cocky shitterstock playing pingpong eating free pizza in NYC HO can go like, duh, buf, we have so many
...million almost fotos and vectors, we don't give NFA how many contributors get pissedoff
.
like telemarketing companies used to do.
but guess what??? most telemarketing companies go bankrupt due to that cockiness.
your friend and other customers if they keep getting  error messages is not going to
stay with ss long
look at what happened to istock.
you cannot screw customers like that and get away.

Here we are speaking about their customers

When a company begins to treat customers this way it is bad sign

As has often been said its a buyers market same goes for the agencies its very easy for customers to go elsewhere to find almost identical content and from what I know few are tied in with long contracts. I guess Corporate accounts may take a while but I believe any stock company is in a precarious position if buyers lose faith as there is little to tie them in...another supplier is just a couple of clicks away.

that's for sure!!! the buyer chose microstock for quick service all in one . the person is not going to
tolerate downloading from ss if it keep on getting error msg...
ss is cutting their throat f@rting around with search and flipping switches .

or maybe as someone said before here, there is a reason why they keep making stupid glitches here and there.
maybe , someone who knows more about web-traffic and bandwidth can explain if it is because
ss have now too many images that they need to blackout some portfolio flipping earning limits
etc.
some ppl say it is all conspiracy theory , but you have to suspect something is going on
when an agency got so big and top-notch now becoming like some two-bit dirt bag.
smells dirty to me.

Except we really have no idea what is really going on here. This is somebody said that somebody else said.  No different than the numerous SS closed my account for no reason, SS won't send me my money, and all the other semi-anonymous accusations that pop up here at least once a month.

"Except we really have no idea what is really going on here"
Sorry, but as the problem has been solved, now we have a very clear idea about what really happened ;)

I think it is normal that the company prefers to stay anonymous on forums.
I have just related the facts as I know (understood) them because this Shutterstock customer is my customer too and I was happy if I could find a solution to help them to solve the problem.
Forums are used to that (I mean to help people), right?

____
So, finally the problem has been solved!

If I have understood well it was due to an error from both parts.

1) Customer error: last month when the customer has registered to the site he did not write the address correctly, forgetting the number of the building.

2) Shutterstock error: beside this, there was a little fail in their security system which has accepted the address written in the bad format.
For this reason the customer had no problem to download last month.
Then, this month, Shutterstock has corrected the security fail so the address was seen as wrong, and the download was blocked.
(Shutterstock explained it in this way)
