I don't know how many of you saw this on the SS forums one contributor bragging about how sucessful he was only to have other contributors spot some of his portfolio wasn't actually his, his account has been deleted now

scroll down to the first post by paulprescott

dgool steals all his photos and brags about best seller and uploads a microsoft windows background as his own lying that he made the picture. This is the low life that inhabits microstock. dgool couldn't shoot his own foot with a shot gun. You take photos have them stolen or have concepts stolen while sites sell them for peanuts. You work to take pictures that are rejected for dumb reasons and complain that reviews take to long. Then we drool on our face being happy that we made a sale for a dollar and complain that it takes two weeks to get paid.

You're so right.  Microstock sucks and so do all of us morons who do it.

Ooops - just drooled on my keyboard again.  Better go get a towel to wipe it up ;)

You came here anonymously which doesn't help with your credibility. You only made a few posts and most are complains about microstock. All serious traditional photo stock businesses already realised that microstock business model works and allows to earn quite substantial money. You are too late mate (by a couple of years) :)

I coun't help to feel like a fool working for my money when I read Dgool's post on the SS forum. Actually selling the Microsoft desktop background with the yellow tillups on microstock, and claiming to make many times more than I dream of!

It's too bad there are so many of these dinosaurs around here lately. One more can't-hack-it has-been who hasn't figured out that there's good money in microstock. Oh well. Better for everyone else here I guess.

I see the thread is locked and the OP's portfolio is deleted. Funny seeing someone you actually know - Paul is the first contributor I actually bumped into in person in India.

4 out of 5 chose to attack me instead of problems. These people get a free pass for same complaints.

25 cents or $5.00 both amount are ridiculously low and there is no real difference.  Neither amount will buy a new camera, pay for a studio, models, computer or internet.

SS is the only site that has developed the kind of volume that makes sense of the subs model. Everywhere else it's dribs and drabs - just enough to be irritating but not enough to really add to the bottom line each month.

It gets old waiting a year, two years, almost three years to reach a first payout, and the idea of waiting another year or two or three for another payout seems totally ridiculous.

LOL :D that is really funny and the contributor is probably a 13old hacker from siberia  ;D.
I doubt that a fraud like this is possible at places like Corbis or Getty so maybe another reason why buyers prefer places like this.

Keep an eye out on all the major microstock sites for your own images uploaded under a different username. So far, I've found that someone has stolen (and re-uploaded) a large collection of my portfolio at Fotolia and BigStockPhoto. I have a large portfolio at both agencies, so the thieves obviously aren't very bright.

Just today, someone bought up $250 worth of my portfolio at BigStockPhoto with a stolen credit card.

Not been a good year for me at FT....Subs,odd rejections, below par sales, and now this!

Bad of them to let this out without any announcement too. I'm way off moving up anyway so I wont be affected, but I feel sorry for those about to jump up a level. Cry

All in all unfair treatment yet again from them!

This forum is comprised mostly of casual and part-timers with absolutely no professional experience,

I am sure a lot of others are like me, sick of the boards being spoiled by bullying and petty jealousy.

I agree

Hello Mr Yadayada...

I make $1.50 per image per month. What is your ratio?

I actually saw some second hand dentist tools for sale in a market in Hong Kong, like other than hunting down dgool who would buy them ?? Maybe setting up an illegal dentistry would be more profitable to submitting microstock. hmmmm

Yes you have 150 photos and sell 100 to 150 a day. I have 3000 and don't sell that many a day.
Goes to prove that thieves make more money than the honest hard worker.

People like dgool tend to piss me off too. I know Yada hasn't got the language skills, but when someone brags about their sales and their portfolio is stolen and copied images, it's rather frustrating. It takes away from the honest, hard working people and the general impression of Microstock, to have stolen images, people selling copied images, CC sales reversals because of Internet thieves.

I hope that the people who complain about stolen images are not using stolen software. On another forum a while back there was a thread in which a bunch of microstockers were hinting heavily that they were using cracked or otherwise pirated versions of Photoshop.

Would I be right in thinking that Shutterstock and Dreamstime have a recurring problem with people selling stolen images?

yeah that royaly p*sses me off too. You can't complain about having your stuff nicked if your trying to earn money using stolen software.

He even has his own photo as avatar!  At least the Microsoft background is not there. Perhaps everyone should just have a look at his portfolio and make sure he hasn't uploaded any of your images.
