I almost never read the SS forums, nor do I sit in front of a computer screen all day and I'm sure that's true of others here too.

If you do, perhaps you could cross-post useful information when it comes up so others don't miss it and I don't get scolded by you for being AWOL.  :)

Now it says 9pm New York time, and I have no idea when that is. Why can't they use GMT, like everyone in the rest of the world does?

NY is 5 hours behind us, though I confess I get confused around clock change times which differ in different countries.

Thanks. I'm on GMT+3 and you're currently on GMT+1 so that would put NY on GMT-4, which makes it -7 compared to me. So it will be 4am Doha time and 2am British Summer TIme ..... if I've managed to get the sums right.

Why don't you understand what the time in NY is? It takes about 3 seconds on Google to find out or almost no time at all with an app on a 'smart' device. Not even the UK is currently using GMT.

So we live in a world where everything has to be looked up on an app, because people don't want to use the international standard?

The person who wrote the note likely doesn't worry about GMT...just the fact they have to work late on the Friday Night of the Long weekend.... ;D  :o

No, not really. I'd have thought you'd automatically know the time differences between your location and the major centres, like the East and West coasts of the US for example. I do. It's quite important in today's global world. For business, sport, contact with friends, etc. It's really not that difficult!

Out of interest, how have your plans changed now that you have finally worked out the actual time of the outage (which happens to be in the small hours anyway at your location)?

I live in Atlanta. Is that the same as NYC time? I have no idea how this whole time zone thingy works. If I'm not done uploading by 9, can I drive over to Alabama and work for another hour?

Oh, it's all right, thanks Gostwyck, now I know what the time will be there, thanks to  Sue,  I know it won't affect my uploading.
Anyway, thanks for your assistance.

When you try to go to your port you get a hand holding a boomerang and it says.

So the world will take a break, cease to exist for a while and recover from its wounds. We will look at the future with anticipation and its comforting to know that some day we will look back and have a little more clarity on what really happend to our dear SS. :)

Seems to be okay this morning despite all the drama. Screen looks a little blurry - but I have imbibed a significant amount of vino.
