Just wondering if anyone has signed up for the shutterstock shutterwalk:

I'm planning to go and thought it would be fun to meet some of you in person if you're there. I'm just an hour from the city - further from Red Hook - but don't shoot in NYC often and I figure this is a good way to get out there.
Anyone know about parking in the area? Better to take the subway & ferry? Suggestions welcome.

Hmmmm. If they're taking the ferry that's probably the way I'd go. I suspect parking would be tough. It has been when I've been to Brooklyn.

I usually mange to find a spot when I visit my daughter in Brooklyn and summer is usually not bad, but I am not familiar with Red Hook and thinking on a weekday it could be busy. Guessing a ride on the ferry will make for good photos though in any event, so good point & thanks for the suggestion. Are you going on the walk?

No...I'm not a photographer, though I've been on many shoots in Brooklyn (I'm in advertising). You're right though...traffic and parking are both best in the summer.

Hi All,
You shouldn't have too much trouble finding parking during the work week. The only public transportation in and out of Red Hook is the B61 bus along Columbia Street to Van Brunt, from downtown Brooklyn near the court. I don't have the exact route, but the connections to the R, 2, 3 trains are there. Possibly the 4/5 as well.

Just a FYI everyone, Alex and I will be at the ferry to Red Hook from New York. Take the Ikea Ferry. I believe it's $5. Pier 11, 2:30PM. Very easy to find. It's at the east end of Wall Street. Alex and I will be wearing Shutterstock t-shirts. We won't be hard to miss!
