Does anyone here have any experience as a reviewer for SS? Specifically how much they pay and the hours. Do they pay by the image reviewed or by the hour? It certainly sounds like an interesting job, but so far I'm very short on details and want to know if its worth pursuing.

They all sign non disclosure agreements. I am not sure if you'll get a response.

Why not? It sounds better then waiting tables or flipping burgers at Mickie Ds.

I think flipping burgers might be more profitable and less boring, but I might be wrong.
But I wouldn't call it interesting, that's for sure.

Yes, They are paid pennies per Picture. They should be compensated as Professional Curators and they are not. I reviewed for 3+ years. Then I wrote this. A fun Read.

At least flipping burgers or waiting tables you can interact with humans. Maybe even meet the love of your life.
My guess is the image reviewers flip through the images on the way to the fridge to get more WOW snacks.

I always wondered about reviewers who work remotely, and guessing that the amount of files they have to go through is probably huge...much more then if they were a contributor....I wonder if they have to review the highest resolution images, larger files, and what this would take in terms of their internet bandwidth consumption...and everything.

And I thought the tree bark was an original idea... :(

They are paid for each rejection ;)

That explains it!

Least risk option. ;D And then you get paid again on re-submission....and I'm not being serious!

I reviewed images for a popular Stock Photo Agency for a few years.
One day back in 2006, in total frustration, I wrote this rant as a way to rid myself of toxic stress caused by looking at junk images for hours and hours and to try to regain a sense of purpose to what was left of my day.
I allowed Laurin Rinder to post it on one of his forum threads here at Shutterstock. I didn't want to post it myself back then because I was working as a reviewer at the time and didn't want to broadcast it to everyone at the stock forum.
It turns out that my little rant was a popularly re-linked essay over the past 7 years. And now a nice lady named Svetlana Koryakova has requested permission to translate it to Russian so she can share it with her compatriots who do not speak or read English. I have given her permission to do so.
Yes, this is my essay, my rant, my stress-reliever ... whatever you'd like to call it, I wrote it. I confess.

And the link Rinder left starts with the following text
"This was sent to me by a very good friend and reviewer of long standing and a great photographer."

All clear.
Kind regards.

gee, they got it all figured out at SS, huh?
-
They are probably paid the same as contributors ie not a lot so they wouldn't be able to afford to live in a Western country. Maybe they work remotely in the Philippines Thailand etc.
