No doubt you are aware that many people are reporting slooooow sales so in way way the answer to your question is simply 'yes'. However, I fear it is likely to be a very long dead season.....

Shutterstock shares apparently down 30% virtually overnight, another key player deserting...

The remaining Big Bosses will seriously want to deter more shareholders from bailing - inevitably they will want to boost profits which is unlikely to help us......

but that's exactly what i said about shareholders quick money scheme with total disregard to the interest of shutterstock's long term existence.
it has always been this way in the markets with speculators. they are not interested if whether
the contributors who made shutterstock what it is today
nor do they care if tomorrow shutterstock no longer exists.

if Oringer falls for their demand to deter them from bailing out, he is a bigger fool that i give him credit for.

Thats what happens when companies start behaving like financial institutions. We've seen similar examples in the past decades and we know how they end.

All their future desisions are driven according to how they want to appeal to the "markers" and as you have already guessed the ground beneath us will be shaking once again.
It's not like stock agencies produce anything anyway. They create growth and that's it.

I'll be expecting more "hey, good news everyone" as time goes by.

SSTK was totally overvalued, but SS the company is doing just fine.

That is what is the problem, investors will want their money back. So yes SS is doing fine, nonetheless, they will be under pressure to get those stocks up again. Guess what happens next.

I'm still doing much better with SS than FT.  Not seen any improvement in sales with FT since Adobe took over.

Yes. Companies stop to produce anything except excel spreadsheet. And they die.

SS far behind IS,DT,FT (and even DP) for me this month.

July and August are also known as Summer Holiday Months™, which means buyers are on holiday, therefore sales are down. It's happens every year. Expect an increase in downloads in September.

Yes, 15th July until end of August is the dead zone everywhere.

Good time to produce content for autumn!

This has always been the mantra but I'm not convinced it's true.  For me June, July and August are often a little slow compared to May and Sept but not by much.  In 6 years I have never had a WMY during the summer and have had BMYs in June and August.  This year it is very different with Canstock dead all year, DT dying fast and SS down about 20% compared to last year.  It really started dying about last September - I had a WMY during last Sept-Dec for 6 of the 8 top agencies last year including SS.  I hope things will pick up in Sept but won't be holding my breath.

July equalled my BME, which just proves it is 'YMMV' on the whole topic. Summer-slump is a real thing, but it  all depends on the subjects in your portfolio really. Diversity rules.

Same for me. It's the summer doldrums, sales will pick up in August or September, but never again what they were in 2009.

Worse than the usual summer doldrums which I barely noticed. Besides, the doldrums started some months ago!!!

We are exiting the dead season. I found this today. 50 things to do for the end of Summer. All but 5 or 6 are SS images. You'll recognize some of the names.

I wonder if SS entered a permanent dead season with footage when they came up with the genius 1000 video for a few pennies scheme at BigStock. Thankfully they haven't loaded much more than 100,000 videos however the damage may have been done. Either way my footage sales are on a downward trend and I think SS had dropped the ball somehow.
