When I see the sales map, I don't see much sales coming from Asia like China, Japan, Korea and India. These are potentially big market. I hope Shutterstock will make more effort to sell there.

I have several vector illustration images selled in Asia, if you sell photos and dont include asian models then this could be the reason

When I see the sales map, I don't see much sales coming from Asia like China, Japan, Korea and India. These are potentially big market. I hope Shutterstock will make more effort to sell there.
As I think there are couple of reason for not seeing much sales from Asia.
It's cheaper to rent a photographer/vector artist in most of the Asian countries compared to buying from stock image sites. Especially in India and China, labor is much cheaper compared to Western countries.
And.... many of them don't care about copyrights and only few countries have proper laws in action against copyright violation cases. So, Google images work for most of them.

not just asian countries and even other non-asian countries don't care about copyrights.
google for those illegitimate stock sites "if you like my free photos, buy me a cup of coffee" theft sites .
these guys are not asians, but caucasians .
but yes, asian countries are bad too... they will take anything for free if possible
eg china pride themselves of legitimate imitation wine and rolexes. they sell these wines openly in wine stores. in fact, there was a write-up some time ago on this issue .
