Title: categories... wedding?
Post by: gillian vann on March 28, 2013, 03:23
so just doing up some random wedding things (bouquet/cake) and there seems to be no category for this.

misc?
I'd be loathe to use Holidays as that's just wrong
Food is wrong
Vintage is my secondary option, but I don't like to spam.

shall i presume categories are just a waste of time, like everywhere?
do any designers use them?

The best would be a holidays and celebration category. I would choose objects if they are objects, if they have cake and champagne food if there is a large flower bouquet flowers. but wedding should either be part of celebrations or have itīs own category.

no people.

objects? to me that means: things on white.

I dont' see a bridal bouquet as an "object"
i think I did "misc" and "vintage' (I did a vintage wash on them, plus they were muted coloured rosed, simple, very vintage)

what "celebrations" category?

that category is not there. But maybe admins reading here to change either the Holiday category to Holidays and celebrations (wedding, birthdays and new year) or have a separate celebrations or weddings category.

Do categories even matter? When I put my buyer hat on I never use them.

The one that gets me is the lack of a Politics category. O.K. if you have pix of Barack Obama then the Celebrity catgegory is a valid substitute, but I do cringe a bit putting the Conservative party Member of Parliament for Altrincham and Sale as a "Celebrity"  ;D That said, do any buyers ever use them anyway? Regards, David.

I vaguely understand the categories option. Certainly it's useful on eBay. So I suppose if you're searching "painter" and you want house renovations only then you could refine it? however, on SS it didn't seem even that option was possible?

overall SS aren't bad, but an "opt out" of categories would be best. (we just don't care, and the categories are too consuming. Frankly, anything more than 1 second is annoying)
