Has any else noticed recently that new images aren't given as strong of a search placement, or is it just me.

I don't think the algorithm has changed. I think it is simply that new images are not selling as well as they used to so therefore they don't gain the top-order placement to carry them further.

There are also many, many more images being uploaded than before. Images that I uploaded about a year ago are numbered in the 9M's. Now my latest images are in the 25M's.

I think there may be fewer long-term subscribers too who I've always assumed were mainly responsible for the interest in the newest images.

SS are still my second-best earning agency although FT are hard on their heels.

I remember, a year ago, 25.000 new images were added every week. Now, it is 85.000 new images every week. And there is definitely not 3x more buyers on SS to compesate it....

SS should really put some upload limit, like 10 per day.

microstock will colapse one day in its own size..... I predict another year maybe, and after that, It will not be worth doing it any more

Welcome to the wonderful world of free market, supply and demand. Ten images per day is 70 per week. If just the top 1100 photographers (0.6% of the total) do it, you'll end up with the same number of new images. The only solution is to go out with a shotgun and kill everybody with a cam.

LOL!  Don't tempt me  8)

I don't think limiting uploads to 10/day will help either.  I upload 15-30 images twice a week.  It will just make the uploading process more inconvenient like it is on another site that limits uploads.  It won't really do much to curb the flood.

I'm selling more new images than old ones so no, the algorithm didn't changed. And as a matter of fact, sales are improving, for me. Of course, I upload about 3 times per week. Feeding frenzy  ;D

He will not shoot a poor transylvanian who swings gently a 12 pounds axe...
Maybe he misses, who knows?  ;D

I've moved towards only submitting vectors to SS and I do it continuously as I finish them.  I've noticed a definite drop in sales but every couple of files I upload take off and have 5-10 sales on the first day, obviously the well keyworded, well executed, and desired files.  So I guess no I haven't noticed any change in the performance of new files.

If that is true (and I think it might well be), then one of the reasons why new images are not selling as well could be the growing use of On Demand buying instead of subscriptions on SS. Subscribers tend to watch the new images, OD buyers search with keywords.

I haven't noticed a change, my earnings still fall quickly when I stop uploading for a few weeks.

Probably right.  Its to bad that 3% of the submitters have 50% of the images and will carry on a few years after the rest of us throw in the towel.  Its better if all of us pull or ports everywhere right NOW and starts from scratch.  By doing that the agencies have a chance to think twice before approving a bunch of crap.  Noone needs 200.000 sunsets or 300000 handshakes.
