Title: Christmas Card from Shutterstock
Post by: gostwyck on December 27, 2011, 16:07
Having been away for a few days over Xmas I've returned to find a nice Christmas card from Shutterstock waiting for me on my door mat. It had a seasonal photo and an illustration from credited contributors and 'Happy Holidays' written in 10 languages. It was a 5-section gate-fold card and actually cost them $1.82 to mail it internationally. I thought it was a really nice touch.

I just wondered if all their contributors got a similar card?

Yup, Got the same card, nice gesture, I've returned the courtesy, and sent one back.

I'm guessing that everyone who earned over X dollars got one, or perhaps the top X contributers.  I wonder what that amount was :)

Either way, a nice gesture from Shutterstock.

Nothing for me - I've only been back there since June though, so if it was based on earnings, I probably wouldn't have made enough.

Got mine.  I was very impressed too.  Actually hand signed by the brass.  They are certainly a class outfit.

Well I got an email from BigStock?  :-\

I suspect it could be a level or earnings thing, but I'd assume anyone who's over a certain earnings level, would probably make the annual sales numbers too?

Nice going, maybe some day I'll get one too.

It's certainly an interesting gesture. They're deliberately staking a claim to being the agency that treats its contributors as respected partners. That's a very positive thing as you wouldn't bother doing that if you were going to shaft the same people in the foreseeable future.

Or am I overthinking things again?

No, I meant way over $10,000 last (this) year.

The actual wording on the card is "Thank you for being one of Shutterstock's top contributors and placing your trust in us."  This can be interpreted as either a top volume contributor, top dollar value to SS contributor or a combination of both.  Chances are we'll never know exactly which is correct or even if everyone who met that criteria received a card.

Can someone scan the card? I'll print one for myself and pretend I got it from them.  :D

Show Me The Card!    ;D (please?)

Got one today, sent on Dec 13th: mail from the USA can take a long time to reach Europe sometimes.
Very nice design, not a usual greeting card.

Over 10K/yr for several years, and no card.  But I do live in Europe, and last week we had a strike of the post offices, so I expect lots of cards to arrive late.

It wasn't an email it was an actual card sent through the post!!!
