Why is it that often when they want to offer something new it is worse than the last version??

I know new things need some time to get used to, but with some things I know right away that I will never like them. In the old version every important info was visible at one glance. You could at once see how many videos or singles or ELs you had sold on a day. Now you have to navigate through dropdown menus and choose categories and file types to be able to see that. What kind of improvement is that?

I totally agree.
If only it would remember my choices, so that I wouldn't have to select them every time.

Totally agree, now less information harder to see quickly.
Look at subs, not broken down now. More clicks to get less info, well done shutterstock. If it aint broke dont fix it.

I must be missing something, I cant even see WHICH images were sold today, just a total figure per category ie subs or enhanced etc.

CONTACT US page is blank lol, hmm I wonder why.

"With the launch of 2022, Shutterstock is hard at work improving the contributor experience, starting with the backbone a refresh of the contributor account."

FAILED, Please dont improve anything else. Cant wait for Phase II

I think this is all about reducing backend systems overheads, reducing man hours to maintain it, therefore reducing running costs. Its nothing to do with 'contributor experience' but then, it never is, history tells us that. Its the same old story, 'move on or suck it up', wrapped up in a 'we love you' blanket.

Not only it's worse but it's on purpose. It's meant to obfuscate info and make people visit the page less often. Sadly SS completely turned their backs on contributors

I don't think they want contributors to visit the page less often. After all they put google ads up on the contributor page last year, so more visits mean more money for them. (Unless the ads aren't on the new design? I don't know, I have an ad blocker and I don't have any new design on my dashboard yet)

It's not great. It's just a plain white page with grid lines which makes it hard to see, find the data you want. When you click on each day, it opens to a small box on a big screen so you have to scroll and when you do, it moves the X to close the box so it's off screen... so you have to scroll back again just to close it. And as if the scrolling a small box on a big screen isn't enough, it limits the amount of scrolling so they can have multiple pages. They must have been drunk when they came up with that one. I could be wrong but I always thought the idea of good webpage design was to reduce the number of clicks the customer/client is required to make to get to the page they want and not increase it unnecessarily?!?

All said and done, it is at a level that I've come to expect from SS so I can't really say I'm surprised!

Edit... I forgot to add that each new day is at the bottom of the screen so you have to scroll past all the other days / data before you get to the current day... and it remembers nothing on that main page of any selections you make... just to force you to make even more clicks again. I dread to think how they'll screw up the rest during the other phased releases!

When companies make their web-experience more difficult, I find that it's their subtle way of directing you to the app. None of the changes are meant for the contributor's convenience; in the business world of assets vs. liabilities, guess which one we are.

I bet the next 'beneficial contributor upgrade experience' will be to remove the "latest Downloads Map' because that really is slowing me down.  :o

The total earnings value for the specific download types seems to be gone too?  :o :(

I want to keep seeing how much I have earned with footage, but I can't figure out how.

I was seeing new design for few days, but now it's back to old ?

I didn't actually think new look was too bad, although I still prefer old.  But main point is - why doing it? Why fixing something that was not broken & worked well? Answer:  Need to give IT department something to do, so "improvement" was invented.  It was far better in my opinion to invest effort & resources in fixing horrendous QA or doing something about unfair compensation structure

I see the new design now too, though only when I click on the "Detailed earnings summary" link.

As far as I can see this change brings absolutely no benefit to the contributor, so I don't understand why the layout was changed at all. It's not better or (much) worse, or at least won't be worse as soon as I finally get used to where to find what information now, right now it's still confusing. The only thing that is already annoying me and will forever annoy me is that the subscription, on demand, enhanced and Single & Other sale categories are now not tabs, but drop-down menues. What was wrong with tabs? One click and you are there.
But there is no additional new information contributors could benefit from. Everything has just been moved to different places and that's all. Reminds me of supermarkets that re-arrange their shelves every few months, so everyone just runs around confused for weeks trying to figure out where everything is. With the supermarkets the point is to make customers find and buy new products, with Shutterstock I don't understand what the benefit is supposed to be for anyone.

If you want to complain about new view, Shutterstock has a special place for this. You need to click your portfolio icon/avatar in upper right corner, and a menu comes out. There, you can click "Leave feedback". You can leave low rating, but there is also space for comments.

Please leave feedback, this may help them see the problem.

Here is a list of complaints to copy and paste if you don't feel like writing:

Quote
1. No sorting by file ID or date.
2. Thumbnails smaller than before.
3. Thumbnails are always square. I can't see if I sold horizontal or vertical photo.
4. Less assets visible on single page. More clicking and scrolling to see full earnings.

Alternate version, not too spam them with identical text:

Quote
1. Image thumbnails are too small. They were larger in old view.
2. All thumbnails are square. I don't know which photo I sold.
3. I need SORTING by asset ID or upload date.
4. In old view I could see more thumbnails without scrolling. Why the small box in the middle?

One more version:
Quote
Thumbnails are too tiny and always square. They used to be bigger and now I cannot identify sold photo, because they are square and most photos are horizontal or vertical.
There is still no sorting by new, or sorting by asset ID, or sorting by upload date.
The earnings box or window that opens on the screen is too small. It shows less sold photos than before.

Yuk, sucks. Lot less information on the same page. I can only assume they have (stupidly) built it for viewing on mobile phones.

I am one of those people that stopped giving SS new work when the new payment structure came in.

SS income has been in decline and AS income has been increasing ever since. The last few months AS has actually been beating SS often as not. Total roughly the same. Glad I dont have to be as concerned about this any more, in year or so they will have slid into the second tier.

Screenshot pls. Still see the old design.

Here's a screenshot.

Not hugely worse, but certainly useless: they added a few unnecessary clicks to reach the same pages eventually. All earnings/downloads data is still visible.

When you click on the new vertical menu bar on the left, some links open in the same tab, some in a pop-up and some lead to an old page without the menu, with no way of going back (except using the browser back button). Seems a bit unfinished.

It's crazy that even expanding the days with the drop-down arrow doesn't tell you the license types sold automatically. You have to "filter" them in. Even then there's no link to the specific sales for the subcategories. It's all so bad non-intuitive.

Hmmmm the new page has struck. Mobile version is bleak. One thing I thought was good was how often a photo has been sold.
100% of my port has sold at least once. 75% more than once. But two images claim to have been sold 5 times. And they have not. They have sold more than that.

Of course how I could check is month by month year by year. And that's gone. At least on mobile version.

Anyone else notice that their images state less sales than they have actually had?

The last time they "improved" the contributor page it was a much worse page, so why expect anything different with "improvement" 2.0

eventually you will get used to it and then when they "improve" it again you will complain that the old version was better.

A reboot of my PC did the trick :-)

Once again, SS releases code and new pages, and artists become unwilling beta testers?  ::) Don't they have any computers on that floor of the Empire State Building?

Doesn't anyone higher up look at these things before they are activated? I mean, yes, people hate change and the new pages will always displease someone. Oh the map changed, "terrible terrible" I noticed we got over that one?

Since I can't see the new pages, and I'm not excited to do that, I wonder if there's something to include video, which was missing? Or maybe some improvements, that would be useful. I don't know why anyone changes their site, just to change it?

If there is a valid reason for making the change and if the answer is that it makes the site substantially better then thats a great reason. If not why are they changing anything? Some other reason, rather than just for the sake of change could be speed, or security. Somewhere in the front of my thoughts is, they aren't doing this for us or our benefit.

My main concern is a sales count number against images which is patently wrong. A certain image is claimed to have sold 5 times. Whilst I haven't kept count I know it sells quite often. They claim 5 sales of that image and I have been logging all of 2019 sales. 3 more years to go. In the first year 9 months it sold 3 times. So 5 is just wrong. But where are they getting 5 from. Have they only paid me for 5. It also states that all of my port has sold at least once. A thousand images. There were some pretty shonky images in the beginning.

Thankfully I now have the old, better version that doesn't require a dozen clicks to find out what I need to know. Hopefully the design team learn change doesn't always mean improvement. The earnings page is probably one of the few pages that pretty much tells me everything I need to know on the first screen.

Try this?  https://submit.shutterstock.com/earnings/top-performers?page=1&date_range=0&sort_direction=desc&per_page=100

Whether it's your numbers of theirs or new version or old, if your numbers don't match what's above, then there's a problem of some sort.

The advantage of the link I posted is 100 per page instead of 25. Much smoother searching with less page changes.

You have to sort them with the product type drop down menu.  I much preferred the table layout to this nonsense.

Now that I see it,  (I have the new page today) you hit the answer to the point. As I click the boxes, it adds to takes away each one of those, but not in their own columns, just totals, so I'd have to click each one, individually and see what the sales are. Terrible and nearly useless. Makes reading the sales much worse.

You and everyone else have my sympathy for what we are now looking at. Mostly of no use except watching the cheap subs add up. The simple spreadsheet was just fine, without all the selections and deselection and the fact that we can't see what's from where, when we do select something to be included. It's the worst!

I am currently having a new design as well, so maybe there is hope and they are working on a different  - better - version again. It's very similar to the old design, so maybe they realized that there really was no improvement when changing a working design for a design that just held the exact same information, but just hidden behind various drop down menus.
I haven't even been using the "old" new page anymore. It was so impractical to use that I rather passed on on the extra information it provided and just looked at my daily overal earnings.
