Title: Crash Dive

Anyone else seeing their sales take a dive since SS introduced the buyer's page with the not so obvious filter buttons which appeared last week?

Wow. Bad weekend but let's see this week. When that was thing implemented? That's gonna cause lots of changes...

It appeared on my buyer account last week though I can't pinpoint the date I reckon it was around Friday just before the zero sales days turned up :(

I saw a pretty big decline.

I've been tracking my overall ranking and it hasn't changed much. The search results have not changed.

I think the biggest culprit is that stupid giant sidebar that took up the valuable search result space. This created more scrolling and buyers are scrolling less often to the bottom, and download less images that appear at the bottom of each page. If they scroll less to the bottom, they're also less likely to go to page 2.

This is a user experience problem. I hope SS revert it and they will if they see a decline in OD, SOD and Enhanced sales.

My sales are ok, Friday was indeed poor, especially compared to previous days, but Saturday and Sunday were above the usual sales, and today is also ok.

I agree with Minsc though, side bar is bad. If you had an image, that was, for example in a third row of first page, you've immediately spotted it, without scrolling. Now it dissapeared from "first look". I don't know if this will affect sales, but I don't like it.

SS has been a bit sad sack of late and February was about on par (as in $6 more) with July 2011 - i.e. peak summer doldrums - one month after I returned from iStock exclusivity.

Even February 2012 beat February 2019 - along with all the other Februarys in between, some by a couple of hundred dollars.

I just received their (newly formatted) notice of payout email. They have the chutzpah to put in the headline "Great news!" - large and in bold!!

I beg to differ :)

January and February are my best months to date, so let's see what March brings. Could be a fluctuation.

I don't think the filter side bar is that bad, but the thumbnails are huge, so I can only see 3 rows. Awful design. Isn't there an option to decrease thumnail size and see more images on the page?

I hear yeah. I'm starting to have to look pretty far back in time to find a worse month :(

3,000 images and zeroes at the weekend and 5 measly sub sales all day they came in early and nothing since.

$5 so far is miserable

Last week was a krap fest whatever they're doing they need to stop it :(

And I just found a hilarious error in their search system.  Type in a word i.e. "Spam" comes up with search results.

Add a category i.e. "Food & Drink" and the results get reset and it forgets you are looking for "Spam" (or what ever you type in) and gives you gobbldygook results just based on "Food & Drink" all 27,929,224 results!

You can't search inside a category!

What a gang of idiots! >:(

Even better search for images and use their "Only Local" artists and I get Asian/Chinese and I'll say right now I don't live in Asia or China!

Nope hadn't noticed any change. I don't watch the buyers side very carefully. But thanks for pointing it out, I wonder what the filter buttons, opening by default, would change, to ruin sales?

Of course if some people are diving, then some people must be taking off like a jet. There is a kind of equilibrium in sales, page rank and downloads. One goes down, someone else must go up.

Maybe I can't see the new page yet, All mine did was default to opening with the Filters active, and if I click the bubble, it's the same. I might need to wait a couple days to see the new exciting new version.  ::)

How come mine shows more images, is the filter doing that? Do you have a small monitor?

Didn't try that, just saving the fun for a rainy day. That and the selection for only 300dpi images which is stupid and irrelevant!

SS has gone to the toilet 🚽

From accepting spam, poor images that should be declined to tolerating thievery and the new $1.50 video licence, this place has gone down in a hurry

Hopefully their stock price plummets and hits those in management where it hurts

It's based on monitor size. I have 3 images (with sidebar) on the first row in my standard 15 inch laptop.

My Feb was the worst in years. I would have to go back prob 5 years to get what I did in Feb 2019.
I think this is the new normal now.

Feb was nothing to write home about for me, but I just got back from being gone for a few days and it looks like March is doing pretty well (for only 4 days, 2 of them a weekend). Not 2012 well, but better than things have been, so I was wondering if they changed something. So far so good for me for March.

No, I didn't see a significant change in sales since the new buyers' page.

(I saw a dive when they started to accept everyone and everything and sales never recovered from then)

Looks like sales are back to normal again.

If you have a partial or complete vector portfolio, you can use m-rank.net to track your position.

I personally felt a sales decrease by the end of last week till Monday, but the losses got spectacularly covered yesterday and this morning. I am not sure if it's due to the design, or some other bug, as it seems a lot of things got delayed on SS at the same times: reviews were slow, a lot of people reported long reviews, and some others were as well mentioning a slow server to upload new files.

I got the red couch this morning! Hit page reload, everything was there, but slow. I think the search landing page changed today? Could be rolling site updates.

Holy Dire, Crash, Drop and Dive. That's not like a 20% fall, it's like off the Empire State Building kind of fall.

Both AS and SS did that, all at the same time. How many images do you have? How long have you been doing this? Something is wrong.

3,000 images in SS 1,700 on Adobe

5,000 on Alamy

Normally in the first week things are good and you can extrapolate what you'll get by the end of the month.

Perhaps Easter has come early?  ??? or maybe its this "Carnival" thing in Europe I learned about this week.

Hopefully sales will come in later in the month  :-\

Try again as the Post edit function isn't working

Been doing this since 2011 though slow to begin with I didn't really get round to major uploading until 2013.

Funnily enough normally for me things start slow on SS and the last two weeks nearly always do better than the first. Often Adobe starts better and SS overhauls it not last month though when for the first time for me adobe beat it and not because adobe was good  :'(

Same here though subs are few and there's been no SODS and two only ODDs
as for EL's forget it.

I think 2009 or 2010, but didn't add most until 2012 or 2013. 4,500 on SS under 1,000 on AS. I stopped caring about IS (they removed 3,657 of my images when they changed to Getty) and Alamy resting for now, 1,799 which means I take what falls on me, no protest or complaints, just bored. Mostly trying to add to P5 now and see what happens.

Hopefully you will recover some, I just can't understand dropping from $1,000 in a month to under $50 that's the worst I've ever heard of.

Oh my sales remain flat, Adobe is growing, without any extra effort or different attention. If it wasn't for increased subs and OD, I would be missing the EL downloads. Treading water is better than sinking.

I need to make it clear that SS has different files in many cases than Adobe. SS takes Editorial, AS not. AS takes some illustrations that SS doesn't.

IS would probably be better if I uploaded new, but I'm just tired of their convoluted upload system. Even DM doesn't work sometimes and I know that Franky does a great job, must be my editor or something.  Alamy takes both but downloads are so slim, I lost motivation.  DT I don't know why I upload anything there.

That's the whole group, I've dropped over 20 agencies because there's no sense in working for nothing, or insignificant spare change.

My interpretation is that it was so far this month - so more like on pace to hit ~200 - still a horrible drop. $1000 with 3,000 files in December is pretty awesome these days though.

Ah sorry I should clarify it's $1,000 per month across all the agencies at the end of last year. Jan. was $750 ~ I sidetracked myself in to talking about total revenue

The opening post was about the nose dive in SS sales this month ~ which has now reached a lofty total of $37  ~ so far not so good  :(
