I have only had a few eds in the past nothing to write home about. But my friend a long time in stock up until 3 or 4 months ago would almost have daily eds, now almost nothing!!
Have SS changed the licencing to make Eds obsolete? Selling for standard price. Or are buyers not admitting to using the purchased images as Eds?

Singles are a bit lite too!!!

Whats going on?  :o

There are no EDs, either ODDs or ELs and ELs dont come in droves, and ODDs you get a few per day.

Sales go up and sales go down.

I never got many ELs and I get ODDs daily, but never many on one day.

I just have one el (ed) today -  but it was a kind of one month pause...

it was more often before - this one month pause ...

but it is normal - ups and downs ...

Why wouldn't you abbreviate what Shutterstock calls "Enhanced Download" with ED? I would. And I had one yesterday. And one last month. Plus a few SODs. Not talking about ODDs. ;)

I'm pretty fresh on Shutterstock, so I can't compare it to how it was in the past. But EDs and SODs are providing a significant part of my royalties.

No one calls its a ED, I didnt make it up. They all call it an EL. If you want to call it an ED, go ahead. There is always someone who wants to be different.

I think in general, for all agencies, print run numbers are too generous so users can use standard licences for almost everything.

Plus buyers dont care or dont read the licence and just do whatever they please with the image.

An ED is an EL AKA Extended License.

And if the OP and others actually took a minute of their time and would give a quick look at the anything goes forum on SS then they wouldn't need to waste their time here posting trivial chit!

Forum link:

EL Link:

And dont forget not everyone posts their sales so the numbers can be and are deceiving.

You are such a deluded SS fanboy it is funny - you're "wasting your time on here posting trivial $hit" - don't know if your hypocrisy is funnier than your unrequited love of SS

Thanks for posting the relevant links.

For most of us, however, there is no such thing as "a quick look" through the Shutterstock forums.  They are so convoluted that trying to find any useful information is like trying to find a needle in a dozen haystacks.

I guess if you spend a lot of time there you can manage to navigate them, but not everyone wants to waste the amount of time necessary to familiarize themselves with the ins and outs of the SS forums.

I am a bit confused why you would attack the OP for posting a simple question in the relevant forum here at MSG ???

Don't expect an answer with any level of sense or coherent reasoning!

Oh, and in response to the OP, I have seen a slight uptick in EL sales this month.  Nothing major, but a noticeable improvement.

That's the thing about language, ED is fine except, well, it isn't.

I keep seeing ads on TV for medication that helps with the problem of ED.

I see they released the down voters from the asylum again. Its not ok to tell the OP the acronym used by many but it is ok to attack people. I always defend the MSG forum on SS, I wonder why I still do that.

I'm having my worst month for a long time.  No EL's, no SOD's, no footage sales, much less than usual OD's and subs are also down.  Don't think I've ever had it this bad with the normal ebb and flow.

lisafx thanks for actually keeping on subject with a post of a professional nature.

Maybe i should be not dumbfounded about the amount of posting regarding an abbreviation! Yes i did think maybe i should use Els (Enhanced license)  and not Eds but after checking the actual description on SS and this was a question about SS only i thought go with Eds. next time I'll just spell it out to save confusion and keep posting to on topic reply's.

Please give more view on the Enhanced download situation

I don't wish to stamp on anyone just would like to keep to relevant post.

thanks

I concur, the market appears to be in a state of ED. Perhaps a little blue pill to all the designers out there.

EL or ED who cares - but they have been stingy with E's of late. However, generous helpings of both chubby and slim ODD's, plus a goodish portion of SOD's has softened the blow considerably.

Yes, I used to get several ELs per month but I have had only one since August.  In the SS forum thread linked to by ruxpriencdiam, Susan wondered if OFFSET could be competing with SS and hurting our sales. People posted that they didn't think so. But if the onset of OFFSET is going to hurt us, it would seem that maybe the ELs are the first place we would see a decline?  :-\

Ooops, I forgot, we're not meant to talk about this sort of thing any longer, are we?

I thought it was the money we make that they didn't want us to talk about?

Well, the number of EDs sold directly affects the amount of money we are making so I assume it's all "privileged insights" into what's happening over there. Of course, I don't really know because the terms aren't specific enough for it to be clear what we can or cannot "disclose".
