As they seem to read every post here about SS, they could always let us know.  I think stopping people discussing this would be detrimental.  We all want to sell more and it makes them more money if we do.  I can understand not wanting to reveal actual earnings but a thread like this should be OK.  Probably better for them to be able to see what we're discussing than forcing us to take it private.

Who knows? Sometimes, part of the secret is what is secret. Alerting people to what they can or cannot discuss would alert the opposition to what they should be looking at.
Personally, I doubt that this is something they are bothered about but, even so, talking about it could easily be a contravention of the terms of the contract. In which case the first thing you might know about it is having your account shut for violating the agreement.
Paranoid? Possibly. But since I don't gain anything from talking about SS I don't see any reason to do anything that might provide even a slight risk of getting booted.

I tend to agree, they  probably will want to set an example at one point, and I would hate for it to be one of us.  I think I am going to keep stuff to myself too. I dont want to risk it.

As there's an 80 page thread talking about sales in the SS forum, I don't think we should have anything to worry about.  I hope they would at least give us a warning if they don't like whats being discussed and I can't be bothered living in fear.  Being booted would be a catastrophe for me but living in fear of it happening would be even worse.

I don't regard observing a strict interpretation of the agreement as "living in fear" - there's no fear involved. The contract was obviously changed because there are things that they don't want us to talk about and we don't know what they are.  If you want to take the small risk of gambling on your guess of which bits of the business they don't mind you talking about, then that's your privilege. Personally, I don't lose anything by just not bothering to talk about them. If it was something that I felt NEEDED saying, then that would be different, but being chummy by giving other people details of some of my sales stats doesn't fall into that category.

Yup. And I don't mind adding that it is the ONLY place that I am really doing well at, at the moment (though DT and 123 have both shown some signs of picking up a bit).

The thought has crossed my mind, that they do not want members of Offset to see our numbers and vise versa.

I'm having my worst month for a long time.  No EL's, no SOD's, no footage sales, much less than usual OD's and subs are also down.  Don't think I've ever had it this bad with the normal ebb and flow.

Ditto

Different for me. This month EL's and SOD's have been following nicely. On target for a massive BME if it keeps up (it probably won't!).

Too soon to tell but I am starting to see a pattern emerge.  One month up the next down.  If this months trend continues it will be a very bad month as a result of very few OD's EL's & SOD's and some very strange sales patterns.

I'm not sure which I dislike more - Shutterstock's putting a chill over discussions with their new, vaguely worded TOS, or Istock's method of sending in anonymous administration shills masquerading as "contributors" to derail and obfuscate every discussion related to Istock.

Back when I first started with microstock, on the SS forum I had the misfortune to describe an EL as an "Extended License", rather than the proper term "Enhanced License."  I was immediately jumped on by an SS admin who corrected me in no uncertain terms that it was not to be referred to as an Extended License.  They apparently take their terminology quite seriously, so I wouldn't be surprised if they wouldn't take umbrage at the use of the initials ED when referring to their EL term.  May seem silly to most of us, but stranger things have happened before and likely will again.
