I get all nostalgic remembering when SS was among the highest functioning sites......

That was before it was "improved" and given new functionality.

It is like this for all the sites improving their functionalities* (somebody call this "progress")

* Improving functionalities: a way to f..k deeper the contributor

I take back what I said earlier. Can't upload right now and download numbers are inconsistent.

Confucius famously said :
'If it's not in the bank then don't bank on it'.  He later amended this in 2009 with 'unless it's in a Cyprus bank in which case don't bank on it at all'. :(

Awfully sloppy Month. I find it hilarious and quite depressing at what we get used to as compared to 3 years ago. And "ALAMY" is now #2???  Wow.

I think someone it's trolling Alamy or Alamy trolling us. All you need is a few accounts and a few fake votes to push that number up. I highly doubt it's real. The rise was too sudden.

I think Alamy as number 2 is real.  The rise is probably because people from their forum have put their earnings in the poll.

I think your right about that, but it still doesn't exactly make the numbers real.  If people don't contribute to the (other) micros, and post only one site in a microstock poll, its gonna skew the results.  Wasn't that the reason istock exclusives were given a special category?

And 123RF being number 9 is not real. It is much better agency. I know it varies for everyone, but for me, it's number 3.

Do you sell more vectors there?
(For me it is very good for vectors and low for photos)

I think a realistic and truthful position of Alamy would be about number 10. Its sudden climb cannot be taken seriously.

No, I don't. Just photos.

I just do photos and 123rf are usually my 4th best earner although some months Alamy overtake them.

These "bugs" have been going on for years and shutterstock has done little to resolve the numerous issues.  As long is money is flowing in on SS's end they do not care how the bugs impact the welfare of their contributors.

It's number 3 for me as well. BTW, I only submit to 3 agencies. My Fotolia port is nearly 1/4 of my port at 123RF, but it generates more income.

This past year so far SS has been a fraction of what I'm earning on Alamy (net, not gross) due to both a significant increase in my earnings at Alamy and a sharp decline on SS. My SS sales the past couple of months have been at an all time low - about equal to when I started and had a fraction of the images I have now.

I was happy to see an uptick in SS stock and an uptick in earnings, but the fact that the uptick in number of files online is a multiple of earnings growth does much to explain why many people are seeing a drop in earnings there. To be frank, I've also been concentrating on adding new work on Alamy while my SS portfolio hasn't grown much at all. RM and higher end RF just seems like a better bet to me right now, though I'd still consider putting American editorial images on SS over Alamy as they seen to do better there.

Alamy is also growing at an alarming rate, but a few good sales each month can add significantly to your earnings there while good income on SS relies on volume. I've never seen so many days on SS without a single sale than I have the past couple of months.

Fotolia is growing but it's not "on fire" yet for me.

I'm not on 123rf so can't comment there.
