I've noticed that if I upload on Thursday or Friday, the images become available on the weekend, and by Monday they are buried several pages deep in their respective categories.

On the other hand it seems that Sunday and Monday uploads take twice as long to review, probably to the onslaught of new images from weekend's shooting sessions :)

So, do you have any tactics that you are willing to share?  Or do you just upload whenever you have a batch ready?

I try to upload as soon as I can.  One of mine that came live on a Saturday was chosen for a lightbox and probably made me an extra $200.  Sometimes new images get downloaded on Saturday or Sunday and will be high up in the search on Monday.  I don't want to lose a buyer because I haven't uploaded the image.  They might bookmark my portfolio and come back later.

I just uploaded a few images today (Friday) in hopes they would be approved by sunday and live on Monday. Well, they approved the images in less than 8 hours on Friday night???? whats the deal, reviewers on meth? going live on Saturday usually doesn't bode well for images. Oh well,  better luck next time, in the Shutterstock image placement raffle.

I've noticed Shutterstock sales picking up on the weekends.  A few of my friends have also.

Yeah, me too. This sudden image approval surge at SS has thrown off my routine a bit.

I upload small series (up to 15 images) every time they review last batch. So, like every 2 days.

well, my last batch of 11 just got reviewed and 10 rejected, most for focus... so much for that (and it was the image that I thought had the sketchiest focus that got accepted - go figure). I did notice last thursday the review was super fast, just a few hours, then by Sat night it is pretty slow. I am guessing many people are trying to get Monday morning acceptances.  Then one has to worry about when they get indexed...

I'm uploading early in the week.
Like Pancaketom above, I too had problems with a shot rejected for poor focus which I thought was fine - it has since been accepted elsewhere!

I load whenever. Especially with DT. the good thing about DT is also the bad thing, the length of time for reviewing.

The good thing about this is you can upload whenever, and it locks your place in the queue. So a month later, just add keywords and you are approved or rejected within a few hours. I have a stack in line, and when I get the time at DT, just log in and release a few.

With SS, it does not seem to matter. Lately they have been a bit slower than usual, so I always try to make sure I have something waiting in line.

With Istock, well ... they continue to reject everything I load anyways.

Same happened here! I thought I read somewhere that they only review during business hours Mon-Fri. So annoying!

I upload when my images are ready for uploading, and they are reviewed when SS has time to review them. Should I worry about this?

Don't try to over analyze, upload as soon as you can, or as soon as you can motivate yourself to do it!

Don't try to over analyze, upload as soon as you can, or as soon as you can motivate yourself to do it!

I only upload after Noon if it's not raining, but if there's a Full Moon on a weekend and the rabbits foot is dangling with the toes pointing away from me, then I can upload in the morning, no matter what the weather.

I've found that photos with bad focus have a better chance of being accepted after 9pm when the reviewer is not sipping tea. They are forced to compensate for their own vision degradation.

Uploads sent in for review after Midnight in Moscow, have better acceptance and review times than those sent in while the Sun is shining in Alaska.  ::)

I get most of my sales, when I'm not checking my statistics. In fact the less I check, the more sales I have, when I do finally check! It's just amazing.

Agreed.  There are too many constantly shifting variables that make it impossible to plan for anything like that.

I have noticed that with my heaviest uploading activity starting on Friday and continued over the weekend ...  I have large spikes of downloads on Mondays and Wednesdays which seem to correlate when my new files come online which support the sales of my top sellers which are selling daily ...

Bottom line: It would seem that we should upload every day as possible   ;D
