I saw a post earlier about SS taking a couple of hours on 20 July for maintenance.  I don't see that now.  I just noticed that BS is also down for maintenance.  Not sure of the significance or if there is any, but ... it seems ominous, doesn't it?

Wondering what good might come of this?

Ohhhhh... just remembered; isn't it time to drop the 38 cent sub sales?

Wasn't it Freud who said that sometimes a cigar is just a cigar?  And sometimes maintenance is just maintenance.  Shutterstock is back, and I don't see any indications of any change.  Then again, I expected that there wouldn't be.

Worst Saturday in a long time, only 3 subs

Most popular file search within my own port: Most popular moved from 1 to 4 and 2nd moved to 7. 3 new files now hold the the top 3.

Other than that, I dont know if this is new:

I wouldn't worry about it - maintenance might mean a bit of dusting or simply retrieving the IT Director's wig from behind the main server.

Of course, for some here and on the SS forums it might mean anything from a search tweak to improve or destroy their numbers to a complete overhaul of the matrix and therefore a redefining of reality as we know it.

Fully agree with Red Dove.

I just figured the slow saturday was because of downtime, and its the first time ever I see a slight shift in my popular images.

Right now I even see the same old bugs pop up. LOL

I thought the part about BS and SS sites being down at the same time could be significant.  Wasn't thinking about the effect on sales at SS.  The time chosen for the outage (I think) was in consideration of sales.
Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean there isn't a conspiracy.

We do our maintenance on Wednesday nite at midnight because of the nature of our business. I'm sure that's why they do theirs on Saturday. Slowest d/l day. FYI, haven't had a d/l since Friday nite and I don't like it! Normally get half a dozen or so weekend days. Oh we'll, it is what it is.

I appreciate that Shutterstock tells people in advance that they'll be down for maintenance. Unlike some other sites experiencing PP anxiety.

They stated that they were making a system upgrade.

The last time they were down and I checked they were running Apache/1.3.34 which reached end of life status in 2010

Proxy Error
The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.
The proxy server could not handle the request POST /upload.mhtml.

Reason: Could not connect to remote machine: Connection refused --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Apache/1.3.34 Server

Today when I checked it looks like they have updated to Apache/2.2.15

In my book that is good news, still an older release but an improvement.  They must have reason for not updating to the latest release Apache 2.4.6
