Title: Editing--Image and/or elements of image have been poorly isolated
Post by: ruigsantos on April 11, 2014, 04:36
Lately I've been having rejections for bad isolated images, although I'm pretty sure they are well isolated. They are accepted everywhere, as always, so this is only a SS issue I'm having. I even tried to fix some irrelevant details that I think could have displeased the reviewer and resubmitted the images again with a note but it gets rejected again. Anyone had this problem recently?

I don't know if it's related but this started happening when I started submiting 24mp images (from the D800) instead of 12mp images (from the D90).

I would resubmit, your work is top notch, I just don't understand how they approve junk from other folks

It's not for camera reason. I've been using D800 for more than a year and I had bad isolation rejection just recently, too.

I did and it was rejected again.

About my work being top notch... I feel you are kidding me Luis. :) It's just average stuff I think.

I don't know if it is alright to post this url here, if it's not, I'm sorry.

This is the image, on another agency. This is the first version. I did a better one after for resubmitting but it was rejected again for the same reason.

On the 2nd version I filled some minor gaps of hair where some light kind of could be seen coming from the background. I even added a levels layer and dragged the slider all the way to the right to see if I was missing something on the background but couldn't spot a thing.

Anyways, I think I'll quit fixing and resubmitting images with this kind of rejecting to SS. It's not worth the extra time I spend.

It has happened many times to me, that I forgot something in the corners or a stripe here and there.
have you done the levels trick?

The top of the head looks a little rough, and the grey background peeks forewards in the hair on the back. Means that you have not overesposed the white background.
Her hand with the tube is out of focus and it is always problematic to isolate things out of dof.

Just suggestions, to consider.

I suggest you amputate her hand a bit, by selecting and feather 1 pix and delete. The white of course, gnawing 1 feathered pix into her hand.
