Title: Eliminate spamming, Eliminate spamming, Eliminate spamming in titles!
Post by: mike935 on December 24, 2016, 02:45
Do you want to write Santa two times in your title? Make him secret! Children, have you ever seen secret Santa? No? Here he goes. Cartoon Secret Santa illustration with Santa Claus sneakily delivering gifts while wearing a mask. EPS 10 vector.

Or do you want to write Christmas three times in your title? Do you? Then you can do like that. Christmas in a warm climate palm tree with Christmas lights and Christmas gifts cartoon. EPS 10 vector.

The next step you write petition to others stop spamming and we who have just one word santa or just one word Christmas would sign it. Ok? Your pictures would be closer to the top than our pictures thanks to Shutterstock's intricate algorithm. Double standards policy?

Or you can go and write like this. Xmas in a warm climate palm tree with garland lights and Christmas gifts cartoon. EPS 10 vector. Cartoon illustration with Secret Santa Claus sneakily delivering gifts while wearing a mask.

Let us all start learning English!

Thank you for this link. Yet I am very meticulous and zealous to justice. I just don't want to name specific names here. If one advocates for equal rights one must be honest and should not act like some loser politicians.

He's angry because I wrote the petition, so he scoured my 10,800 images until he found a couple where I had "Santa" or "Christmas" twice in the description, like when the image features a Christmas tree and Christmas gifts.

If he keeps looking hard enough he'll find that many people have words repeated twice here or there, especially in editorial images. I probably also have some that mention New York twice in the title because of editorial rules. Most likely we all have a few in our ports.

Every post he's made here has been about spammers...my guess is his account was suspended for it.

Don't feel bad, someone did that to me, too. Found a couple images of mine and posted them and made an example of them.  ::)

I believe I have a few in my portfolio. It certainly wasnt intentional. And it is certainly a FAR cry from the intentional, ridiculous spamming that is going on. anyone can see the difference.

It is a matter of degree.  If your account git suspended I assume you are a much worse and repeat offender. Or repeat repeating offender if you will.

Do we have to feel a sense of emotion that some people are more resourceful than others? I thought that those who fight with spam must themselves be blameless. I do fight with spam and I have not a single repeated word in any of my titles. It looks like everyone must learn to spam within the permissible next year. By the way, to be angry is not healthy.

Put your effort towards the serial spammers, the ones who know they are spamming as part of their strategy.

Why should anyone believe anything you say...you just registered here Dec. 13, have made 7 or 8 posts, and are anonymous to boot. No links to your port, so no one can call you out, eh? Yikes, its Christmas. Get a life.  ::)

I didn't name any names here in this topic. Then she comes and says, "It's me, he is talking about me!" It is her right. But why do I need to show my driver's license in turn?

There is a big difference between "Christmas in a warm climate palm tree with Christmas lights and Christmas gifts cartoon. EPS 10 vector."
and "Christmas Christmas Christmas Christmas Christmas Christmas Christmas Christmas Christmas Christmas Christmas Christmas Christmas Christmas Christmas Christmas Christmas Christmas Christmas Christmas Christmas Christmas"

If you can't see that then you are missing the point.

Thank You. If we know that we can add three times the word with legitimate connections, why not. Your example will do. It's just describing what's there and accenting that Christmas word. Time of year, lights, gifts.

The second one is where they should shut the door and close accounts. Not meaning, not connected, not specific subjects of the image.

Haven't we all said from the start, best keywords that apply to get views and placement and downloads? Not spam, not cheating, like your first example. Just what's in the image.

He is just bitter because he got caught, but the rest of us thank you for writing the petition.

They are obviously different. But they have same intention.

Second one is just crazy.

I dont think they have the same intention at all. in the first one, take out the 2nd and 3rd instance of the word Christmas and it changes the meaning entirely. Are there just lights from the city, lights from a house, or are they Christmas lights? Big difference. Same with gifts.

The second one, well, thats spamming...since there arent even any other words to describe anything, who even knows if its an image or an illustration.

The intention is TOTALLY different. But i think you all know that.  ;)  By the way, Merry Christmas!

Unless your a complete retard it's obvious what kind of lights and gifts are they.

Unless your a complete retard it's obvious what kind of lights and gifts are they.

"Ljubljana, Slovenia - June 7, 2016 People walking and sitting in cafe bars in Ljubljana's old town center on a bright sunny day"

"Ljubljana, Slovenia - September 1, 2015 - Congress square and Ljubljana's castle"

"Ljubljana, Slovenia - December 22, 2015 - Illuminated Ljubljana's castle, raising above old city center, decorated for New Year's holidays"

"Ljubljana's castle rising above old city center, Ljubljana, Slovenia"

For those of us who are not anonymous, I would guess that someone can pretty much always find a few images that repeat words in the title, like these examples in your relatively small portfolio. Was your intention to spam? No, of course not. You were being descriptive. You didn't repeat the word "Ljubljana" 80 times, thirty in the title and fifty in the keywords. You didn't flood the site with 1,000 almost-identical shots of Ljubljana.

As I've stated here several times and on the phone with SS, I'd be really happy if they changed the search results so that redundant words did not carry any more weight than a single word. That would instantly level the playing field for everyone. For whatever reason they either won't or can't do that.

Merry Christmas.

Let the creativity continues since shutterstock do nothing with the search results!

Happy mother is standing with other mothers at mother's meeting celebrating Mother's Day.

Pencil background. Two pencils and box for pencils. One pencil is red. Three pencils are blue.

Does Shutterstock support takes any action if you report clips with spamming and not relevant keywords?

For example looking for NYC footage and there is a ton of Asian cities...

How can one pencil be red three blue and be two pencils and a box? Makes no sense.

I have many photos with the same word two or three times. Not as spam, but because the word fits in various ways. I don't need to spam titles to get views and sales, but those idiots did.

You can't spam your way into a sale, a good quality of work will win sales over the spam fools. Buyers are smart enough to buy what they want, not just what they see first.

In this instance, maybe you have to think outside the box? :)

In all seriousness though, I think the OP is trying to compare apples to pears.

I didn't realise pencils were in such demand like weed say. I can't help thinking if the spammers applied their ingenuity to producing good images they would be more of a threat.
