Many years there was a problem with verification and count of keywords. I noticed often changes but never saw it working properly. So this is just a next chapter

Thank goodness for this forum. I sh*t a brick thinking I was about to get booted from SS!  No way I can get through my whole portfolio. I have never edited an upload after approval. I wouldn't even know how!

Just got the same email:

We have become aware that your portfolio now includes titles with spammy repetitive words or phrases. Repetitive titles like orange, orange, orange and icon arrow, icon arrow, icon arrow create a poor customer experience, and are prohibited under our metadata guidelines. These titles are considered spam and are not accepted for publishing during the review process. Editing them in this manner after your content has been published is not allowed.

You are now required to edit these titles to bring them back into compliance. In the coming weeks, we will review our collection again. If you do not correct your titles, or you continue to create repetitive or spammy titles, your account may be suspended.

First it's really sad, but not surprising to see how much they care about us: they don't care at all... They threaten to close the account as if we were just numbers (which is somehow true but we pay their salaries so please show respect).
Second you can notice the same list of spammy words that some of you got, which of course I never used.... Seems like they are running a software and it messed up something.... Glad I'm not the only one getting the email... But I honestly don't know what to do... I emailed them... Let's see if they reply...

I received this as well.  Hope it was sent in error, as like most people here, I don't deliberately repeat words in titles.  They need to tell us what titles need changing or at least give an example from our portfolios.  Threatening to suspend an account seems unfair if we don't have a clue what they want us to change.

me too, but it addressed me by my first name, so i thought it was a personal email to me, telling me there is an issue with my port, so it is a blanket email to everyone, must be a mistake.  i do not use repeated words, i do not edit after they have been accepted, i have every description unique if it is a series, also no examples of my portfolio, so really hard to understand which descriptions they are referring to,

I got it too, the text was the same as yours but in Russian which is weird as all their mails to me are in English.

Could it be indeed an attack? It came from [email protected] - has Shutterstock ever used this kind of email address before? Usually they use @shutterstock.com

I would rather have them tell us it's a bug so WE CAN ALL BREATH A SIGH OF RELIEF...but a polite sorry would be welcome too. I was sitting outside at lunch, had my headphones on, enjoying the sunshine and music and for whatever reason decided to check email and saw this. I cut my lunch short to run back to work to follow up with SS.  They own me a bibbonbop at a Japanese restaurant...lol

something is wrong the email is from [email protected], when you click reply it goes to Shutterstock Contributors [email protected] which is their email address for buyers, for contributors it normally is  [email protected]

I'm banned from SS forums. Can someone go poke their head in and see if admins are chiming in and repost back here?

There are four threads going on in there on this topic, but so far no admins have chimed in.

I have received the same mail too and I definitely do not have spammy titles.
Here they give some explanations and examples:

Looks like a lot of people got that.   I went back and double-checked, because I'm very careful of keywording.   My keywords have been replaced in many cases with words from the title or description, and now include all single-word keywords, including "the", "on", "of", "with".    Maybe they're going to one-word keywords like Dreamstime uses?

You are right. My keywords have changed as well!!!!

Words like "Great Britain" are now "Great", "Britain". "3D illustration" is now "3D", "illustration".

The email could have been an automated message that was triggered by them tinkering with the system.

Why have they not notified us about the change?  >:( I wonder what the consequences of this are going to be.  ???

that issue has been around for years, it is a bug, they never fixed it

It's a separate issue - the email is about Titles not keyword splitting.

I just got this, too, I'm effing outraged. I've never spammed their titles, I've got 5,000 images there and no idea how to review and edit titles. I just can't believe they spam us with their insults. They used to be the best of agencies.
